Raspberries are sweet, fragrant, everyone's favorite berry. It grows in almost all summer cottages. Breeders create new improved varieties of this healthy berry, one of which is the Maroseyka variety.

Breeding history of the variety

In the 70s of the XX century, Professor V.V.Kichina, with the assistance of the Moscow Institute of Horticulture (VSTISP), bred a new berry variety. The work was carried out on the basis of the Scottish raspberry variety. As a result of the painstaking work of the breeder, a large-fruited hybrid with improved qualities called Maroseyka appeared.

Description of the variety

The spreading, powerfully developed bush of the plant reaches a height of 1.5 meters. The branches are smooth, without thorns. The color of the leaves is dark green with warty edges. Maroseyka gives thick, strong shoots covered with a tomentose bloom.

A small wax coating protects the plant from fungal infection. Raspberries simultaneously form at least 10 young shoots. A medium-sized bush, if desired, can be formed into a small tree.

Ripening terms

Maroseyka belongs to medium early varieties. The fruiting period begins on July 10 and lasts approximately 1 month. In the south, the berries appear 10 days earlier due to the warmer climate.

Growing regions

Maroseyka is successfully grown in the middle lane, in Moscow and the Moscow region, St. Petersburg and in the south of Russia.

Yield

The non-remontant variety Maroseyka is considered a high-yielding variety. On each shoot, up to 20 berries are formed, and from a whole bush per season the harvest reaches 5 kg of tasty fruits. The bush can bear fruit for 10-15 years, but starting from the 10th year, the raspberries become smaller.

Berries and their taste

The size of the fruit is large and very large, the berries are conical, light red in color. Lots of double heart-shaped berries. Large "rubies" reach 12 grams in weight, but, despite this, they firmly hold on to the stalk, do not crumble.

The fruits of Maroseyka have a dense consistency and juicy tender pulp, thanks to this they are easily, without splashes, separated from the stem. Sweet berries with a pleasant raspberry aroma.

How to choose a raspberry seedling
Due to its unpretentiousness, raspberries live in almost every garden plot. But in order to get tasty berries, you must first plant a healthy and strong seedling. In nurseries, shops and private sellers, you can find a huge assortment of seedlings, but how to determine their quality and be sure of the abundance of fruiting already upon purchase?

Growing features

Seedlings of Maroseyka are planted in rows every 1.5 meters. For this grade, supports are installed and the garter wire is pulled. The bush is tied up at a height of a little more than a meter from the ground.

The planting hole should be at least 50 cm, and 40 cm deep for the free location of the roots. A distance of 1 meter is left between the holes.

Site selection and soil preparation

For Maroseyka, soil acidity should be at the level of 5.5–6.0. A light-loving plant can grow in the shade at the same time. It is better to choose a calm place where there will be enough sunlight.

Raspberries prefers fertile soil and, if the planting of seedlings is supposed to be in the spring, 1 sq. meter add 50 grams of superphosphate and 40 grams of potassium components; in the autumn - humus, compost, mullein with the addition of ash.

A plentiful and high-quality harvest in the future depends on the correct technology of planting a raspberry bush. It is necessary to choose the right planting material, determine the location and prepare the site.
Raspberry garter is a difficult and painstaking task. This requires time and imagination. But on the other hand, the benefits from this process are enormous. Thanks to the garter, the fruits ripen more intensively and regularly. Bushes are much less deformed, branches do not break off. After the garter, the berries are better preserved, and the greatest achievement at the same time is the convenience of harvesting.

Pruning

Maroseyka is cut in spring, summer and autumn. In the spring, frozen, broken branches are removed. In the summer, excess growth is cut out to avoid thickening of the raspberry tree. In the autumn, before the onset of cold weather, cut off excess crooked shoots and old branches, leaving only strong branches.

Watering and feeding

The Maroseyka variety is unpretentious, but requires competent care. The plant is fed twice a season. First, in early spring, until sap flow began. Top dressing is made from chicken manure with water in a ratio of 1: 20. This infusion is poured over the bushes. Ammonium sulfate granules are also used.

They are re-fed before the onset of cold weather with a complex mineral fertilizer, including potassium sulphide. Regular loosening of the soil has a positive effect on the plant, you need to do this carefully due to the close location of the roots to the surface.

Watering is required moderate, regular, to prevent the roots from drying out. Excess moisture can cause putrefactive processes. Drip irrigation is the best option.

The raspberry pruning process is an essential and essential part of caring for your garden and the key to harvesting large, juicy berries. Without pruning, raspberry shoots lose their strength and cease to bear fruit. It is very easy to avoid thickening of the raspberry tree: you only need pruning - in the spring, summer and autumn months.
One of the conditions for proper care of raspberries is proper watering. The rules for watering raspberries are the same for all varieties and varieties of this garden plant. Moistening should be carried out if the soil has dried out by 5 cm or more.
One of the most important conditions for growing large and sweet raspberries is timely fertilization. For each stage of development of the raspberry bush, different feeding is required. Fertilizers that are used at the beginning of the growing season of the plant are not suitable during flowering and ripening of berries.

Frost resistance and preparation for winter

It is better to bend the branches at the end of September, at which time the risk of damage is minimal. The variety easily tolerates a slight cold snap; frosts below 15 ° C are dangerous for Maroseyka. Moderate winter hardiness. A thick layer of mulch or agrofibre is used to cover the bushes.

Preparing raspberries for winter is another of the stages of berry care. If you start preparing raspberries for wintering in time, then next year you will get a rich harvest of delicious and sweet berries. Winter preparation activities include pruning, feeding, pest control, watering and shelter.

Diseases and pests

Maroseyka has a high resistance to crop diseases and pests. However, insufficient care and various violations of agricultural technology make the plant vulnerable to disease. The tree can be damaged by rust, anthracnose, chlorosis and root cancers.

To prevent diseases, gardeners, as a prophylaxis in the spring, practice spraying with "Fundazol", "Antracol", "Skor", "Previkur Energy".Instead of some drugs, you can use Bordeaux liquid or copper sulfate.

If a defeat occurs, then the diseased bushes are removed. Raspberry Maroseyka is loved by thrips, raspberry beetles and earwigs. To combat these pests, insecticides "Aktara", "Envidor", "Provado", "Detoil" are used.

Unfortunately, raspberries, like other plants, do not bypass various diseases and pests. Only by armed with the knowledge and the necessary means for this, you can cope with such troubles. To help the plant, it is very important to be able to recognize the disease in time and begin timely treatment.

Reproduction

During the season, many new shoots are formed at Maroseyka. Separate them from the main bush should be no more than 20 cm in size. Usually this is the middle of summer. Before the winter cold, the offspring have time to take root. Shoots must be separated from the mother bush along with a lump of earth in order to less traumatize the roots.

There are many ways to breed raspberries. Raspberries can be diluted with root cuttings, lignified cuttings and root cuttings. Regardless of the method of berry propagation, a number of requirements must be observed to ensure the receipt of high-quality planting material.

Review overview

Many buyers are satisfied with the quality and quantity of the fruit. The Maroseyka variety surprises with stable fruiting and an abundance of berries. Raspberries are great for winter preparations, pies, as decorations. Keeps perfectly frozen.

Compliance with the basic rules, feeding and pruning will keep the root system and branches healthy. Maroseyka will indulge its owners with an excellent harvest for many years.
