Features of a studio apartment

To find the right style for your studio apartment, you first need to understand what it is and what advantages it has.

In new buildings, you can find ready-made apartments of such a layout, but if an old-style house, most often, the main walls are removed, getting a spacious room without walls. Sometimes the kitchen and bedroom area are separated by small partitions.

Studio apartments are chosen for two reasons - because of the affordability of prices or because of the love of creativity and creativity. Based on this, you will need to select a style for your home, so that you feel comfortable and comfortable in it. Of course, with a creative approach to the process, there is a lot to roam.

If you are conservative enough, you should pay attention to more strict, restrained styles, which will also perfectly fit into the style of modern planning.

There are also many ideas for those who work from home and want to organically combine a sleeping and working place in one space not limited by walls. This is especially true for those who receive clients at home.

Popular styles

Scandinavian

One of the most successful solutions for a studio, since this apartment layout and Scandinavian style are at the peak of their popularity.

It is chosen for many reasons, one of which is a large number of light shades, which will make even the darkest apartment lighter.

Today there are several directions of the Scandinavian style, but we will consider the classic, from which you can "dance", depending on your preferences.

As we already understood, the style is made recognizable by the abundance of light colors in the interior - white, beige, pastel. The presence of various wooden surfaces of a natural shade and a large number of colors are required, due to which the apartment will be full of green blotches.

Wooden parquet or laminate must be laid on the floor, outwardly as close as possible to natural wood. It is important that its shade matches the color of countertops, shelves and other furniture.

There should be no colorful wallpaper on the walls, any absence of a pattern is desirable at all. You can glue light plain wallpaper or use light pastel paint.

But a moderate amount of textiles decorated with small ornaments is only welcome. Most often, preference is given to geometry or a restrained floral print. It is good if the patterns on the carpet, furniture, bedspreads, curtains and pillows overlap with each other. But this does not mean that they should be the same - the apartment will look too boring.

You can play on contrasts by choosing black furniture for the kitchen, which will look very impressive. Due to the light walls and floor, it will not create a gloomy atmosphere.

Do not forget about flower pots, paintings and photographs on the walls, vases and figurines, designed in a certain style.

The most important thing is that it will be very easy for you to separate the sleeping place; a white curtain screen is quite suitable for this. If in any other style it looks ridiculous, then it will fit perfectly into the Scandinavian one.

Remember that decorating an apartment in a Scandinavian style should be simple, but functional and convenient, if you think over everything carefully, then it is quite possible to cope on your own without resorting to high costs.

Loft

A loft-style studio is another modern, functional and very fashionable solution. Unlike Scandinavian, this style has little light and airy. It is dominated by "urban" colors, such as gray concrete walls or red brickwork.

To make the interior look brighter and not gloomy, be sure to place interesting decorative elements in the interior and add juicy blotches of color.

For example, inserts from decorative tiles in the kitchen area, a bright refrigerator, seating on chairs or multi-colored lamps.

To make the apartment as bright and comfortable as possible, it is good if you have the opportunity to insert French windows to the floor.

As in the Scandinavian style, the floor should be wooden, but the loft appreciates the effect of aging in everything, so you need to choose laminate or veneer with a worn effect. If the apartment already has a wooden floor or parquet, it is enough to cycle it by removing the old varnish or paint.

Ceiling beams are another integral part of a loft. If they were not found in an ordinary apartment, you can build fake ones from drywall and finish them from boards to match the floor.

Do not forget about the decorative elements - black and white paintings on the walls, books, lamps and figurines made of artificially aged copper and brass.

A wardrobe can serve as a partition between the guest area and the bedroom, which will visually increase the space due to mirrored doors.

Minimalism

This style involves the use of exclusively necessary objects and forms, here you can find only what is necessary for life. For a small studio apartment in which all the space is in sight, this is a great solution.

Minimalism was greatly influenced by the Japanese style, which also involves a minimum of furniture, the use of natural materials and no "overload".

The interior design uses light colors - white, light gray, milky. It is better if the walls are monochromatic, for example a discreet drawing on one wall. Laconic laminate or parquet can be laid on the floor.

More than five colors should not be used in the design, ideally if they are pure, deep colors - white, gray, black, blue, red.

Furniture should also be simple and laconic, geometric shapes. There should be no curls or other non-functional elements.

The amount of furniture should also be kept to a minimum. A sofa, a couple of armchairs, a bed and a coffee table in the main part of the apartment are enough. Install one large wardrobe in the hallway area, in which all your clothes should fit.

Built-in household appliances are welcome in the kitchen area, since only perfectly flat surfaces should be visible to the eye without cluttering up various cooking devices.

It's good if you are ready to give up the dining table, leaving only the bar counter, which will at the same time serve as a partition between the kitchen and the living room.

Properly thought out lighting and the most functional furniture are very important - they will make your home not only stylish, but also comfortable.

High tech

Literally translated from English, hi-tech is a high-tech style. In its concept, it is very similar to minimalism, since it assumes the absence of decor and the maximum functionality of all items. At the same time, many chrome parts are used in the design, and elements such as pipes, fittings or wires are not hidden, but, on the contrary, are exposed outside. Urbanism, coldness and cosmic "lifelessness" are brought to the fore. However, with the proper approach, an apartment in this style can be very cozy.

To design a studio in a high-tech style, give preference to clear and simple geometry. No complex elements that are inherent in futurism.

For the kitchen, choose built-in furniture and appliances to match the color of the walls so that they merge with the interior as much as possible.

Chromed pipes are welcome in the design of furniture; avant-garde lamps, glossy glass and matte furniture can be used as decor.

To zone the space, use sliding partitions. A sliding door can also lead to the bathroom and bedroom (if it is separate).

In general, give preference to modern artificial materials - concrete, plastic, glass, which are more often used in industrial buildings.

There should also be a lot of light sources to create the effect of light and free space.

The color scheme is predominantly restrained and urban, but, unlike minimalism, there can be bright blotches in the form of red, raspberry, turquoise, salad, yellow.

Provence

If all the previous styles are relatively young and modern, then Provence stands out from the general picture, because it is translated as "province". A rustic style associated with coziness, comfort, lots of textiles and faded colors. Nevertheless, it is this style that makes the studio apartment very cozy and comfortable.

In addition to pastel colors and a variety of weightless curtains with ruffles, the interior should use light floors, floral patterns, light carved furniture and many ceramic and porcelain knickknacks.

As in the Scandinavian style, a large amount of light is important here, you can rarely find wallpaper on the walls, most often it is a rough whitewash or "faded" paint.

Furniture should not only be functional, it also plays a decorative function. Necessarily carved, aged, with peeling paint.

There should be a lot of pillows and bedspreads on the sofa; here it is also appropriate to separate the bed with a curtain-screen.

Don't forget about flowers - ornaments, drawings, paintings, flowers in pots, vases - they should be everywhere.

Forged items are welcome in the kitchen, and there can also be a lot of utensils on display. Of course, it should match the style - copper or enamel.

Interesting design solutions

An amazing example of a combination of two modern styles - loft and Scandinavian. An abundance of white and light in the interior, brickwork, but painted white, bare wires adjacent to bright ceramic tiles decorated with Scandinavian patterns. Two colors were chosen as refreshing colors - yellow and blue, which serve as bright accents throughout the apartment.

Studio apartment in the style of minimalism, in which the interior is thought out to the smallest detail. There are a lot of built-in functional technology, glossy surfaces and chrome details that create a feeling of freedom and large space. A restrained black and white color scheme is used, a bright accent is the bedroom area with red lamps and bedding.
