Today, beds can be as simple or even futuristic as possible. In addition to the laconic design, the use of the latest materials is allowed in modern interiors. The lack of lush, pretentious decor does not mean that modern-style beds are devoid of variety - on the contrary, you can choose fantastic products that seem to have arrived from the future.

Peculiarities

The bed is very important, because we spend a third of our lives in it. The degree of convenience depends on how healthy the sleep will be, and in what mood we will wake up. The bed is a structure consisting of a frame with lamellas, on top of which a mattress is installed. The product is endowed with a headboard, may contain linen boxes, access to which is provided by a lifting, pull-out or roll-out mechanism. Not all modern-style beds have a frame, sometimes it is replaced by a podium. The lack of lamellas increases rigidity, but with the right mattress, the inconvenience is not felt.

The bed can contain a different base on which the mattress is laid:

  • solid, consisting of plywood or chipboard;
  • rack and pinion;
  • lamellar (orthopedic).

The base is fixed permanently or has a lifting mechanism.

All beds can be divided according to age for children and adults. The intermediate group - adolescent - contains features of both categories. For example, the size of the models is already an adult, but the two-tier or attic type of structures is borrowed from children's options, and they do not have to withstand critical loads, which means that the products can be lighter. In addition, young users often prefer armchair beds without armrests, which can be folded down for the day, increasing the space of the room.

Models for adults come in several varieties.

  • Standard wireframe. This is the classic with the simplest design. It is a square or rectangular frame with legs. The absence of linen boxes allows the bed to be well ventilated, which prolongs the operational life of the mattress and the entire structure.
  • With lifting mechanism. The product is complemented by a gas shock absorber frame that allows the base and mattress to be lifted with a slight effort to gain access to the drawers.
  • With drawers. In such designs, there is no lifting mechanism, and access to the boxes is due to their extension from the side surface.
  • With a roll-out system. The product is designed in such a way that the boxes under the base with the mattress can be easily rolled out with the help of rollers and moved to any part of the room. There are models that contain a second berth instead of boxes - it can also be placed separately from the main bed. When installing such structures, it is necessary to take into account the place for their extension.
  • Built into furniture (transformers). Beds built into a wardrobe or a suite, with the help of a special mechanism, easily acquire an upright position and become invisible during the daytime, turning into part of cabinet furniture. Such designs are convenient for one-room apartments or small rooms.

In addition to the above types, adult beds differ in size: they produce single, double and one and a half bed options.

Children's models are also divided into several types.

  • Single-tiered. A traditional bed for one child. The dimensions of the structures vary depending on the age category. The product can be equipped with shelves, drawers for toys or bedding.
  • Several levels. The products are intended for two children. Sleeping places can be located one above the other (two-story) or perpendicular to each other. For families with three children, beds with a roll-out extra bed are designed. Such structures are often endowed with shelves, a tent for the upper berth, boxes hidden under the stairs or bed.
  • Loft beds. They are a set of furniture for a work or play area, above which, like in an attic, a bed is installed. The design is similar to a two-tier model, only the first level is occupied by cabinet furniture or play devices. Sets with a table and shelves can also contain several berths.
  • Built-in (transformers). They have one or two berths, which are integrated into the cabinet furniture - a wardrobe, a children's wall. Such models are convenient and rational, they significantly save space.

In addition to the above list, children's beds can be divided by age (have different sizes), gender (for boys and girls). In the second case, the differences lie in color and design solutions.

For kids, bumpers, railings and other fences are provided.

Materials (edit)

The material of the bed directly affects its cost, durability and environmental safety. In addition to a rigid frame, upholstery fabrics and a backing are used for the manufacture of the product. Our ancestors slept only on wooden beds. They are tactilely pleasant, environmentally friendly, strong and durable. Today, not everyone can afford furniture from a real solid wood. Imitators come to the rescue - chipboard and MDF, covered with veneer of different types of trees. If you choose a model from these materials, it is better to overpay, but give preference to MDF. The board does not contain toxic impregnations, it lends itself to embossing, you can make a beautiful headboard from it.

Metal is partly or completely involved in the manufacture of the bodies of some beds. Iron models with a forged insert are used in loft, brutalism, gothic, and village styles.

Design

Modern interiors are often a mixture of styles with a dominant direction. Mixes can be composed of bionics, neoclassicism, futurism, postmodernism, minimalism and other contemporary styles. All furnishings, including the bed, must fully comply with the theme of these directions.

Today, fashion trends in beds are represented by Italian, Belarusian, Malaysian factories. Designers of domestic furniture have also developed many different models for the bedroom: with a soft headboard and ears, a canopy, with a hanging bed, using adult, children's and youth themes.

We suggest that you familiarize yourself with a selection of models that differ in various and beautiful design solutions.

  • Modern models are designed for one or two or more beds, they can have several levels. A bunk bed for children with a ladder and a slide resembles the deck of an old ship, and the ceiling is a starry sky, which little sailors are guided by.
  • To accommodate four children or guests at the same time, multi-beds have been invented. The strong metal frame will stand up to everyone without difficulty.
  • Stylish modern models bear little resemblance to the classic options. For their manufacture, eco-leather or other types of thin leatherette are used. In a strict palette of colors - gray, white, brown, beige shades.
  • If the author takes smooth lines, circles and ovals as the basis for the design, the result is an amazingly beautiful soft interior, headed by a simple but sophisticated bed.
  • An excellent design find - "floating" models.Illuminated from below, they create the impression of a flying bed - it seems that dreams on them will be just as airy.
  • Continuing the theme of "floating" beds, you can pay attention to products torn off the floor and suspended on ropes or metal hangers.
  • The design technique of placing a berth on the podium has become common. Different goals are pursued: you can sit down without crushing the beds, hide convenient boxes under the flooring.

It happens that the podium is a continuation of the interior line and the main structure in the room.

  • Sometimes modern furniture is ahead of its time in design forms and provides fantastic futuristic things.
  • Capsule beds are so diverse that they can be categorized as a separate group. Some resemble the body of the car of the future. Others are a beautiful, cozy place under a makeshift roof. And the third is a techno-style compartment with a TV and other electrical appliances.
  • Round beds are not new, but they look particularly stylish with a modern twist.
  • Models with clear broken lines adorn interiors in hi-tech, minimalism style.
  • Sometimes designers spy on their subjects from nature. Then they get headboards like pearl shells or tangled stems of herbs.
  • Transformers can please with a wide variety. They are able to literally create a cozy atmosphere out of nothing, for example, expand into a bunk bed, or adjust the sleeping place to any position.
  • Interesting models in which the mattress is surrounded by soft seats. Functional boxes of various sizes are hidden under them. The design also contains bedside shelves and a table.
