Modern people spend a lot of time in a sitting position. Pillows help you withstand many hours of being in one position for the sake of business, as well as comfortably take a nap on an armchair in the garden or in the living room. In order not to get tired while sitting in an armchair, you need to be able to choose the right pillow - fortunately, humanity has come up with many options for these important things in everyday life.

Peculiarities

An ordinary chair is not able to perfectly repeat the curves of the body of each individual person. Because of this, homo sapiens, sitting in one place for a long time (which by nature is two-legged, in general, is unusual - people should be in motion as much as possible), experiences at least discomfort, but often it ends with pain in the spine, neck or head. And these are only the external manifestations of sitting on an armchair. The unnatural posture disrupts the work of internal organs, muscles, and so on. All this leads to health problems that only get worse over the years.

If you set yourself the goal of making a special, ideally comfortable chair, it will be a piece of furniture designed for a specific owner, taking into account his height and figure. In order not to worry about this, it is easier to take a chair cushion by placing it under your back or under your head.

Such things make it possible to redistribute the load on the muscles and prevent incorrect processes in the body arising from a long sitting in a sitting position.

Advantages and disadvantages

When using a suitable pillow:

  • the spine is in the correct position, which avoids fatigue, clamps and other troubles leading to serious health consequences;
  • a person manages to maintain the correct posture, look beautiful, avoid pain in the back, neck, head;
  • there is no discomfort in the lower back, thanks to which you can pay attention to work for a long time, you do not have to get up again, thereby distracting from important tasks.

The disadvantages of certain pillows can only be talked about when they are used for other purposes, and also if a person is allergic to the materials from which such things are made.

Varieties

We are all accustomed to the fact that there are cushions that are placed on a lounge chair, for example, under the lower back or on the armrest, or even under the head. And this is just one kind of this kind of item. but there is a rather impressive class of products in the assortment, which are no longer the legacy of our great-grandfathers and great-grandmothers.

The modern achievements of civilization include orthopedic products, which are created on the basis of the latest knowledge about human nature and taking into account the technological capabilities existing in our century for the manufacture of this kind of things.

Office chair cushions come in a wide variety of shapes, depending on their purpose. These are both back support items and seat pads. So, under the "fifth point" you can throw a thing in the form of a ring. Due to the void in the middle of this bagel, the convenience of long-term stay in the chair is provided. At the same time, blood circulation in the pelvic area is not disturbed. There is no unnecessary stress on the sacrum and coccyx. And this equally works in relation to both a "light" person and a "heavy" person, whose body weight reaches 120 kg.

And you can choose a specially shaped lining with an orthopedic effect, which adapts to the characteristics of the human pelvis.Somehow it is not necessary to fix it on purpose, because on the side that is in contact with the chair, it is rough. It will not slide under a seated person. For the back, you can choose a product that is attached to the chair and has a characteristic convex shape. Such an object can be called a pillow only conditionally.

Some, in general, look like a regular frame. The advantage of this kind of supporting objects is that the spine receives support in the part where it has a natural bend, and thus the back is not overstrained. You can choose substrates of different stiffness.

There are so-called ergonomically shaped pillows with drawstrings that allow you to conveniently attach them to the back of any chair. These composite systems include side elements to ensure comfort even when the person is tossing and turning in the chair. And also on a hard chair, you can throw an ordinary soft product that will make both the back and the seat more comfortable. Thanks to this addition to the piece of furniture, it is easier to endure prolonged immobility of the pelvis, shoulder blades, neck and head.

Manufacturing materials

For pillows, depending on their purpose, a variety of fillers are used. It can be synthetic winterizer, holofiber, and even a feather. When there is a need to ensure precisely the orthopedic properties of the product, not so familiar stuffing is used. For example, the “insides of the pillow” are made from buckwheat husks. Such padding is suitable for things used, among other things, to provide a more comfortable sitting in a work chair.

It allows air to pass through well and creates a massage effect for the "fifth point", thanks to which the blood in the lower part of the body circulates well. Polyester is also used as padding. It is a synthetic filler with a resilient effect. It is mainly used in rectangular pillows. It is inexpensive, and keeps its shape for a long time.

A more progressive solution is latex. It is a strong, durable material of either natural origin (from Hevea juice), or artificial - foamed polyurethane, which has only latex impregnation. And also for modern orthopedic pillows, the so-called viscoelastic foam is used. Under the influence of the temperature of the human body, the product on this basis acquires appropriate bends, and this shape remains all the time until the material cools down. When another person sits on the chair, the pillow will adjust to him as well.

Even ordinary air can be used as a filler for the pillow. For example, some ring-shaped models are just like that... Thanks to the emptiness inside, they are easy to take with you on trips, inflate and put on the seat of any chair in which you have to work.

Manufacturers

There are a great many manufacturers of seat cushions. When it comes to such serious things as orthopedic products, the names are heard Espera Factory, Trelax, Fosta, Trives. Large selection of this kind of products from IKEA... Although the name of the company is not everything when it comes to choosing products that support comfort during work and rest.

Selection Tips

Leaning in favor of purchasing one or another pillow, there are a number of aspects to consider.

  • The size of the product must match the base, otherwise the most functional pillow will seem uncomfortable. You will not be able to experience anything but irritation when using it.
  • It is advisable to choose a pillow with a removable cover. This will make it easier to care for the product. In addition, the cover, if it is badly worn out, can be changed, and the pillow itself will safely continue to serve.
  • The type of the chair itself is also taken into account. It is one thing to buy a thing for an office copy, another thing for garden ones, for example, wooden pieces of furniture. A fabric pillow with holofiber is more suitable for a lounge chair, and for a work chair you can choose a product with latex or other "advanced" filler.
  • When it comes to orthopedic pillows, it is advisable to consult with doctors before purchasing a particular type of product.
  • What matters is the color, texture and design of the pillow in general. It should correspond to the taste of the future owner and the general environment in which he finds himself.

Before buying a pillow, you need to hold it in your hands and try it in practice, as far as possible in the sales area, and also make sure, at least visually, of its quality.

A good-quality item will last a long time, will help to maintain good health when you work, and will allow you to relax as much as possible during your rest.
