During repairs and in everyday life, many faced the problem of applying any sealant. I would like the seam to come out even and neat, and the consumption of the sealant itself was minimal. At the same time, everything must be done efficiently. An electric sealant gun, powered by a 220 V network, is ideal for these purposes.

Principle of operation and features

The electric gun is designed to facilitate the application of the sealant. With minimal energy consumption, everything can be done much more accurately and faster than not using this device.

The body and piston rod are a must on any sealant gun. They help to squeeze the composition onto the desired surface. There is a trigger to control the amount of sealant squeezed out. Experts advise to choose closed types of pistols due to the reliable fixation of the container with the sealant, which excludes the ingress of the composition into the device.

When the trigger is pulled, the piston starts to move, acts on the container with the sealant and the composition is squeezed out through the spout. The only drawback of the electric pistol is its poor mobility, since the range is limited by the cord.

It has much more advantages:

  • constant high power;
  • minimum consumption of sealant;
  • accuracy of application;
  • light weight compared to the battery model;
  • variability of models;
  • the cost is several times less than that of battery analogs.

How to use it correctly?

Using an electric sealant gun is easy. The main thing is to follow the sequence of actions.

  • First of all, it is necessary to prepare the tube for further use. Its nose is cut off at an angle of 45 degrees. Given its tapered shape, the amount of sealant to be squeezed out can be matched to the thickness of the joint. Experts advise beginners to make the first cut the smallest and, if necessary, enlarge it. Some recommend simply piercing the opening, but because of this, the resistance of the squeezed out material increases dramatically, which negatively affects the work.
  • After opening it is necessary to refuel the pistol. At this stage, it can be difficult if you are doing everything for the first time. First you need to loosen the locking nut of the gun. Retract the stem to the stop. Insert the container with the sealant into the body and fix it. After that, you can start sealing the seams.
  • The surface must be treated before application. Dust, dirt or oil will adversely affect the adhesion of the surface and the sealant. You also need to dry the place of the future seam. It is not recommended to make it wider than 12 cm.
  • Seam filling is the fourth step. It is very simple. You need to pull the trigger of the gun under the sealant, moving it as the joint is filled.
  • The final step is "smoothing" the seam with a spatula.

Precautionary measures

The sealant must not come into contact with the skin of the hands. It hardens very quickly, and it becomes problematic to wash it. Glasses and gloves provide reliable protection for hands and eyes. Robe will protect your clothes well from dirt.

Fresh drops can be removed with a damp cloth. If you do not do this immediately, then the composition will grasp tightly and it will be possible to remove it only mechanically. This is the main reason why the tool must be immediately cleaned of the mixture that has got on it.

How to choose?

Before going to the store, you should think about the operating conditions of the tool, on the basis of which you should make a choice.

  • Volume. Cartridges are rated for 280 ml. This is a household option. Tubes with a volume of 300-800 ml are designed for professional use. For two-component sealants, there are devices with a special mixing nozzle.
  • Frame. Steel guns are suitable for cartridge sealants and aluminum guns are used for tubes.
  • Convenience. Take the gun in your hand. Determine if you are comfortable holding it.
  • Appearance. There should be no damage, cracks or chips on the case.

Experts advise to pay attention to the tools of the brands "Caliber" and "Zubr". These companies provide a wide variety of closed-type pistols. Their feature is a very flexible pricing policy, in which you can purchase a device designed to work with cartridges and loose materials. Their cost is two times lower than that of imported counterparts with the same high quality.
