Mechanical liquid soap dispensers are often found in apartments and public places. They look more modern and stylish compared to conventional soap dishes, but they are not without drawbacks. First of all, this is due to the fact that you have to use the device with dirty hands, which leads to the appearance of soap stains and dirt on its surface.

More convenient and practical is the touch-type model. It involves the contactless use of the dispenser - just raise your hands, after which the device dispenses the required amount of detergent. The dispenser stays clean, and the user does not risk "picking up" bacteria during operation, since he does not touch the device with his hands.

Features and characteristics

Touch dispensers for soap are devices that provide a batch of liquid soap. They can also be filled with shower gels, liquid creams, or other skin care products instead of soap. Having appeared in Europe, such units are widely used in public places. Although such "soap dishes" are widely used not only in the bathrooms of shopping centers and similar establishments, but also in ordinary apartments and houses.

The popularity of the devices is explained by their numerous advantages:

  • the ability to reduce the time of hygiene procedures;
  • ease of use (just bring your hands to the apparatus to get the necessary portion of soap);
  • easy pouring of detergent thanks to wide openings;
  • a variety of design options and colors, which allows you to choose a device that matches the style of the bathroom;
  • economical soap consumption;
  • the ability to adjust the amount of detergent supplied (from 1 to 3 mg at a time);
  • versatility of use (the device can be filled with soap, shower gels, shampoos, dishwashing detergents, gels and body lotions);
  • safety (during use, there is no contact between the device and human hands, which reduces the risk of transmitting bacteria during operation).

The sensor dispenser consists of several elements.

  • The detergent dispenser takes up most of the device. It can have a different volume. The minimum is 30 ml, the maximum is 400 ml. The volume is usually selected depending on the place of use of the dispenser. For public bathrooms with high traffic, maximum volume dispensers are more suitable. For domestic use, tanks with a capacity of 150-200 ml are optimal.
  • Batteries or connectors for AA batteries. They are usually located behind the soap container and are not visible to users.
  • Built-in infrared sensor that detects movement. It is thanks to its presence that it is possible to ensure the contactless operation of the dispenser.
  • Dispenser connected to the detergent container. It ensures the collection of a predetermined portion of soap and its delivery to the user.

Almost all models on the market today are backlit, which makes the use of devices even more convenient. The presence of a sound signal in some of them also makes the operation more comfortable. The sound becomes evidence of the correct operation of the unit.

The bowl of the soap container is usually made translucent - so it is more convenient to control the consumption of the composition and, if necessary, top up it. Indicators showing the battery charge level allow you to replace them in a timely manner.For the full functioning of the dispenser, 3-4 batteries are required, which are enough for 8-12 months, which makes the device very economical.

There are two types of dispensers depending on the type of dispenser.

  1. Static. Such devices are also called wall-mounted, since they are fixed to the wall. Such dispensers are used mainly in public bathrooms.
  2. Mobile. They can be installed anywhere, and can be easily carried if necessary. The second name for this type of device is desktop.

Non-contact dispensers can vary in the volume of the soap container. For a family of 3-4 people, a 150-200 ml dispenser is sufficient. For large organizations or objects with high traffic, you can select dispensers, the volume of which reaches 1 or 2 liters.

The devices are divided into three types depending on the material used.

  1. Plastic - the lightest and most affordable. They can be of different sizes.
  2. Ceramic - the most expensive. They are distinguished by their reliability, design variety and high weight.
  3. Metallic products are characterized by increased strength, usually made of stainless steel.

Depending on the filling method, automatic dispensers are divided into two types.

  • Bulk. They are equipped with flasks into which liquid soap is poured. When the product runs out, it is enough to pour it (or something else) into the same flask again. Before filling the liquid, it is necessary to rinse and disinfect the flask each time, this is the only way to ensure the hygiene of the device. Bulk dispensers are more expensive, since the manufacturer makes money from the sale of the devices themselves, and not from the sale of consumables.
  • Cartridge. In such devices, soap is initially also poured into the flask, but after it runs out, the flask should be removed. A new flask filled with detergent is installed in its place. Cartridge models assume the use of only a certain brand of soap. They are more hygienic. Dispensers of this type are cheaper, since the main item of expenses for the owner of the device is associated with the purchase of cartridges.

Differences between dispensers can also be caused by the form of the washing liquid outlet.

There are three main options.

  • Jet. The inlet is large enough, the liquid is supplied by a stream. These dispensers are suitable for liquid soaps, shower gels, antiseptic formulations.
  • Spray. Convenient, because thanks to the spray of the composition, the entire surface of the palms is covered with detergent. Suitable for liquid soaps and antiseptics.
  • Foam. Such a dispenser is used for soap-foam. The device is equipped with a special beater, thanks to which the detergent is converted into foam. Dispensing foam is considered to be more convenient and economical. However, such devices are more expensive.

It is important that the detergent used is suitable for the type of dispenser. For example, if you use foam soap in a dispenser with a large outlet (jet type), the product will not foam (since the dispenser is not equipped with a beater). Moreover, the foam soap in its original form resembles water in consistency, so it can simply flow out of the wide opening. If you use regular liquid soap in foam dispensers, the outlet can quickly become clogged due to the thicker consistency of the product.

In the kitchen, built-in models are often used, which are placed directly on the countertop of the sink. For the installation of such a device, only self-tapping screws and bolts are required. The container with soap is hidden in the lower part of the countertop, only the dispenser remains on the surface. Concealed dispensers are especially useful if they have large volumes of soap containers. Some models are equipped with a sponge holder.

Design

Thanks to the variety of offers from modern manufacturers, it is not difficult to find a dispenser suitable for a specific interior.It is better to select metal models for plumbing. This allows for the unity and harmony of design.

Ceramic dispensers are presented in a large assortment. Thanks to their respectable appearance and dimensions, they look especially good in classic interiors.

Plastic models have a wide color palette. The most versatile is the white dispenser, which is appropriate for any interior style. Fancy or colorful dispensers look great in a modern setting. Such a device should be the only color accent of the interior or a harmonious addition to it. For example, a red dispenser should be combined with accessories of the same color.
