It has long been no secret that some bathrooms located in elite-type houses, which were developed taking into account unique design plans, have a small problem - the difficulty of selecting protective structures to separate the bathing area from the rest of the space. Often people resort to this problem because of the triangular baths, which are known to be very difficult to choose the right curtains or screens. But, undoubtedly, the best choice for such baths is a semicircular cornice.

They are made from a wide variety of materials. But we must also not forget about the fasteners, which are both domestic and foreign.

To install such a cornice, you do not need to make a lot of effort., because there is nothing complicated in this matter. Installation will take literally half an hour, but it is better to immediately contact real professionals who will do it in a matter of minutes and with maximum quality.

Features and purpose

The first and only purpose of the semicircular curtain rod in the bathroom is to fix the material that will reliably follow the contour specified by you or the master. Without a good bar, the entire decorative component does not matter, since everything will be covered not only with soap stains, but also wet ones.

Undoubtedly, decorative oval bathtubs made directly according to the design project, or triangular will not do without a good eaves in a semicircular shape. There are two types of them, namely, single-row and double-row. In addition, they often offer curtain rods with additional slats, for example, for drying towels, or other attributes. In addition, there are two fixations of the canvas on the cornice, which are designated in everyday life as simple and complex.

At the moment, it is the telescopic rod that is very popular with consumers, which in its appearance resembles an arc. Such cornices are very convenient to use; they do not spoil the walls at all during installation. However, when installing just such a cornice, additional screws are required, namely on the ceiling. This type is one of the most difficult to install, so it is better to immediately seek professional help.

If the installation is successful, the cornice will be securely fixed, you will be able to hang absolutely any curtains on it: from any material and of different weights.

If this particular bar is used, you can forget about design problems., because it will already give the bathroom interior a sophisticated look and aesthetic appeal. In addition, if the selected curtain is made of really high-quality material, then your room (bathroom) will have the most inimitable and unique style.

If you come to the conclusion and are going to build a triangular bath with your own hands, then the selection of the cornice and curtain should be carried out in the following way: first you need to measure the radius of the product, and at the next stage add a couple of centimeters to the resulting figure. This is the easiest and most reliable way, since when buying other products, you will need to rely on a number of factors that will bring you a lot of worries. This method of choice has only positive reviews.

Varieties of designs

Depending on the material used, the semicircular rods are divided into three types.

  • Plastic. It is the cheapest and most affordable option for a person.Its advantages are only in light weight, easy installation and, of course, low price. However, there are also disadvantages, namely: unattractive appearance, poor strength, rapid accumulation of dirt.
  • Aluminum. Slightly better than the previous version. This type is of higher quality: it does not rust and has good resistance. Also, one of the advantages is the appearance, which remains really attractive for a long time after the purchase. However, these models also have a number of disadvantages: over time, they begin to fade, deform and emit an unpleasant sound when the curtains move along them.
  • Steel (stainless steel). This product is the best choice, as it can retain its original appearance for years, even if the bathroom is not in the most favorable condition. However, we hasten to warn you: it is better not to undertake the installation of such a product yourself, since it requires really strong and good fixation, which only a professional can provide.

By design features, the following types of semicircular cornices are distinguished:

  • telescopic (sliding);
  • strings;
  • flexible.

The best option at the moment is the telescopic view. Its peculiarity and difference is that the original length, which was set by you or the master, can change. A similar cornice moves apart similarly to a telescope, as a result of which it received this name. By the way, this mounting option is the most reliable: special rubber gaskets are located at the ends of the rod. In this regard, the walls during the installation process do not have to be drilled.

Pros:

  • fast installation and ease of installation;
  • the best price on the market;
  • a good indicator of strength for both standard curtains and vinyl sheets;
  • preserves wall surfaces;
  • suitable for any bathroom interior.

Minuses:

  • installation is not possible in all cases - mainly in the presence of a bath of a standard form;
  • does not withstand a lot of weight, so not all curtains are suitable (for example, instead of one single curtain, you can put two curtains 150x90).

String cornice is simple yet functional. In appearance, it resembles a thin metal string. Many manufacturers are improving this model every year, and at the moment it is the most practical option.

It is worth noting that this species has no disadvantages as such, but there are several advantages:

  • the ability to install in any premises;
  • easy installation;
  • can withstand any weight, so you can hang curtains of any material and any size on it, be it 180x200 or 240x200 cm;
  • inconspicuousness (this is the case when a person wants to emphasize the beauty of the curtains he has chosen);
  • a wide range of colors, but the gilded version is especially worth highlighting.

As for flexible curtain rods, here the advantages are noticeable immediately, you just have to look at the product itself. They are made of a special type of aluminum, which bends easily, so they can be given absolutely any shape, which is very important for the unusual shape of bathrooms and non-standard bathrooms. Flexible curtain rods are attached both to the wall and to the ceiling, which gives them additional reliability. There are no downsides as such, and it really is.

But nevertheless, it is worth choosing the right cornice based on personal needs, tastes and preferences.

Installation rules for non-standard cornices

Undoubtedly, you can attach these products by hand yourself, but you should not hope for a positive result if you have not taken into account all the nuances of the work.

If, nevertheless, you decide on an independent installation, then you need to pay attention to some important points.

  1. The system that you will be installing should be a couple of centimeters from the edge of the bathtub or shower room. The frame should merge with the curtain material, so to speak, "match".
  2. Fastening to a tile will be problematic for self-installation.And, if you have just made repairs, it is better to immediately contact a professional, since, most likely, you will have to do "cosmetics".

At the moment, consumers are popular with options with telescopic rods, which, in addition to the standard fasteners, are also mounted on the ceiling. However, such a mount is not suitable for all cases, since it requires a really spacious bathroom, preferably with high ceilings. If you are the owner of such a bathroom, you are undoubtedly in luck, because these systems look really attractive, and the risk of their collapse is zero. Dismantling such cornices is also quite easy, while the ceiling and walls will remain unchanged.

Step mount

Before starting work, you need to prepare all the necessary tools and materials, namely:

  • a set of dowel-butterflies, which are sold in absolutely any hardware store;
  • set of drills;
  • drill or hammer drill;
  • the pipe and the curtain itself;
  • building level;
  • pencil (it will serve for marks).

At the very beginning, you have to measure the area and find the right place for the fasteners. To do this, you need a pencil, with which you have to put points in the place where you will drill. However, do not forget that they need to be arranged so that they are on the same level (in a line). Since the tiles are likely to chip off, it is best to drill along the seam.

Important! At this stage, you need mindfulness. First you need to check all the points that you have set. They should not in any way intersect with other communications present.

In order for you to feel more comfortable while taking a shower or bath, you need to make good ventilation. To do this, you need to retreat from the ceiling by about 10-15 centimeters.

The holder, which is intended for curtains, should extend by about the same centimeters over the edge of the sanitary ware. This prevents drafts and splashes from flooding the floor.

The next step is to attach the cornice. You must fasten it with expansion dowels. But it is worth remembering that there are special screws for drywall, which are also sold in any hardware store.

This structure must be attached to pre-fixed elements.

If necessary, you should put on decorative caps.

The next and last step is attaching the string, as well as cutting the anchors. This step is only necessary if you are mounting a rod that works with a string type.
