The kitchen is a kind of "heart" of an apartment or house; it is a place where food is prepared, pies are baked and tea is drunk. In the kitchen, you can confer with a friend or read an interesting book "a bite" with a cake. That is why I want to make it as comfortable and cozy as possible and at the same time save as much free space as possible.

The latter was mentioned for a reason, because typical high-rise buildings with the same typical apartments are designed in such a way that little space is left for kitchens.

Very often, the layout of the kitchen is inconvenient, it does not include a modern set, and if it does, then there is nowhere to turn around. In a situation where you are the happy owner of just such an apartment, but want every room in your home to be comfortable for living and at the same time pleasing to the eye, you should pay attention to the varieties of modular headsets.

Modular corner kitchens perfectly cope with all requirements: they are ergonomic, economical and beautiful at the same time.

What it is

The concept of "modular furniture" is relatively new for the Russian furniture market. The principle of the module means that each piece of the headset is self-contained and can be combined with the rest, depending on the wishes and needs of the buyer.

It is not necessary to buy all the elements of a modular headset, you can select only those that are necessary and group them according to the area and shape of your kitchen.

Advantages and disadvantages

Modular furniture is now experiencing a kind of "boom" on the Russian market, and both kitchen and bedroom sets, living room walls and combinations for children's rooms are popular.

They owe their popularity to two main qualities.

  1. It is relatively inexpensive. For most people, such a criterion as budget is very often one of the highest priorities.
  2. To freshen up the atmosphere, you just need to swap some of the elements. The room will take on a new look, while not a single ruble will be spent on changing the decor (just a little personal time).

All elements of the module, as a rule, are approximately the same in width and have a significant degree of compactness, which allows them to be placed even in the most modest-sized room without cluttering it. Very often, the same element has several options, for example, a wall cabinet can have two or three doors.

Another advantage of modular furniture is the ability to create different compositions from it. At the same time, you do not need to rack your brains, "adjusting" element-by-element details to each other - on the manufacturer's website and in catalogs there are already all possible options for assembling modules. There, on the site, you can calculate the final cost of the entire kitchen, simply by adding up the price of all selected elements.

As a rule, the delivery of elements of modular furniture is carried out assembled, so the placement in the room is very fast. And since no parts need to be manufactured or ordered specifically, waiting times are kept to a minimum.

There are also disadvantages to modular kitchens. For example, if your kitchen is much larger than the standard ones, then it will be more difficult to choose a modular option for it, since this type of furniture is designed specifically for typical apartments. Problems can also be created by all sorts of irregularities in the walls - niches, built-in wardrobes, etc.Old houses often have bay windows and arched windows.

If your kitchen is small, but one of its walls is occupied by a bay window, the corner option will most likely have to be abandoned.

In addition, when choosing modular kitchen furniture, you should take into account that you will be offered a few finishing options. Precisely because one of the main advantages of such furniture is its versatility and combinatoriality, individual design solutions are not used in its creation. Therefore, if your apartment is not a standard one, and you yourself do not strive for simple solutions, your option is an individual order of furniture.

Features of corner headsets

The corner kitchen is suitable for square spaces. The working area is located, as the name suggests, at an angle along two adjacent walls. Even in a small kitchen, this design will look organic. The top and bottom modules can be varied in different ways, placing the top and bottom cabinets that you need.

Stopping at this option for the design of the kitchen, it should be remembered that outwardly all cabinets are almost the same (door design, width, height), but inside they can vary greatly in filling. The latter makes the corner modules as functional as possible.

As a rule, corner modules are available in three widths - 45, 50 and 60 cm. This applies to single-door cabinets, but if there are two doors, then each digital value should be multiplied by two. The height of the floor pedestals (bottom module) in all versions has the same value - about 0.85 m, this figure includes the height of both the base / plinth and the table top. The latter does not mean at all that it is impossible to change the height of the pedestals in any way - many headsets are produced with legs, by adjusting the height of which you can raise the headset by a few centimeters.

The optimal width of the tabletop is 0.6 m, and the width of the lower cabinet is 0.56-0.57 m., for the formation of a "visor". The upper tier is usually produced with a depth of 0.3 m, and this depth is less than that of the lower tier, although this rule is not observed in all versions. In some types of design, wall cabinets in the upper tier do not have a sash that opens vertically, but a cabinet-type door that opens towards itself. But these are special cases, mostly lockers on top are single or double doors.

Materials (edit)

The materials for the modular kitchen are a combination of plastic and MDF (fine wood fraction). Plastic is the most budgetary option, but also the most short-lived and primitive in design. MDF boards, in addition to the properties of strength and environmental friendliness, are also quite affordable at a cost, while suggesting various finishes.

Corner modular kitchen cases can be produced in two types.

  • Glued... That is, the headset is almost ready-made, after its delivery, you only need to hang the doors, although they are often already mounted.
  • Made... This is a kind of "constructor" of boards and fittings, which is accompanied by an assembly diagram. You can use the services of collectors or you can mount the modules yourself.

The only part of modular kitchens that differs in design and assumes a relatively wide range of it is the facade, that is, the doors of the cabinets of the upper and lower tiers. There can be glass (both frosted, textured, and ordinary transparent), and fancy patterns, and a lattice, and aluminum parts.

The rest of the "spare parts" are produced in a maximum of three or four shades and do not differ in special variety.
