Parents of young children often face the problem of potty training. In this delicate issue, special attention has to be paid to boys, who show a desire to relieve themselves while standing, repeating after adults. However, this is not entirely hygienic, because the spray is flying in all directions. In this case, normal nursery pots are not suitable and nowadays, urinals are replacing them, which are only gaining popularity.

Peculiarities

Children's urinals have recently begun to appear on the market, so they are new to many parents. Let us consider in more detail why such products are needed and what are their main advantages.

  1. The urinal will teach the boy to relieve himself standing up from childhood, which in the future will greatly simplify getting used to toilets in schools, shopping centers and other public places where such devices are mainly installed in men's latrines.
  2. Some young children are afraid of the toilet, they are afraid to fall into it, or they are afraid of a splash of water. There can be many reasons, and having a urinal will help solve them.
  3. Children's travel urinals for toddlers will be a great solution in situations where going to the toilet is problematic, for example, in public places where there is no such room, traffic jams or long journeys. Also, the presence of such a sink will save the child from the need to use public toilets or simply go to the bushes.

Despite the fact that the bowl is usually designed for men and boys, the children's travel urinal is made for girls as well. It is equipped with a different anatomical top for convenience.

It is worth remembering that from childhood a boy must get used to both the urinal and the toilet. Therefore, the child should be taught to these two subjects at the same time.

    Varieties

Today, manufacturers of children's urinals offer numerous product options, so choosing the right one is not difficult. The main classification parameters are the shape of the product itself, as well as the shape of the discharge, the method of installation and the material.

    Plum shape

    Automatic

The principle is that a motion sensor is installed in the bowl, which is triggered when a person is approaching and moving away from it... When the child moves away, the drain automatically turns on. This option seems very convenient, but in this case the boy does not get used to flushing after himself.

    Semi-automatic

Here the drain works like in ordinary toilets, where you need to press a button to let the water flow. This mechanism is considered to be the most appropriate and suitable for the child.

    Manual

In such models draining is done by turning on the water pressure manually, using a tap... These options are not popular with most consumers.

    By installation method

    Floor standing

The models are installed on the floor on a special stand. A special feature is that they are portable, they can be moved from place to place. You can also adjust the height of the bowl. Minus it can be considered that they are not connected to the flush system, as they are portable. Floor standing models are made on the principle of a pot urinal, so the child needs to close the lid after use, and the parents need to wash it themselves.

    Wall mounted

These models are attached to the wall with suction cups or Velcro. Wall-mounted urinals are more mobile and compact, they can be moved and outweighed higher or lower, adjusting to the child's height. For small bathrooms, a sink that attaches to the toilet itself is an excellent option.

    Hidden

In this case the urinal is built into the wall, hidden by additional structures. Models with this type of installation are considered the most inconvenient, since their installation takes a lot of time and money, the service life is short, in case of malfunctions, it is necessary to disassemble the entire wall.

    By material

    Plastic

Plastic urinals are the most popularbecause this material is easy to clean, it is durable, lightweight and inexpensive.

    Ceramic

Such material looks more solid, it is more fragile than plastic, but it also costs more.

In terms of the form of execution, urinals are generally monotonous, similar to standard male models. However, various decorative ornaments have been invented for children.

So, urinals can be made in the form of a frog or a penguin - the top is decorated with the head of an animal, and the urinal itself takes the place of the body. In stores, you can find models for every taste.

In order for the boy to be interested in using the urinal, it is worth looking for a model with a scope. Its principle lies in the fact that in the center of the urinal there is a device with a turntable, into which you need to get into.

    Selection Tips

The most successful option would be a wall-mounted urinal made in a decorative style. In addition, it is easy to install and use, and the child's trip to the toilet will take place in the form of a game.

There is also travel or camping urinals, which are made in the form of a bottle with a different top (for boys and girls). They are often equipped with a loop for easy portability or attachment to a stroller, for example. This portable urinal comes in handy on the road or on the go.

    Installation recommendations

Installation of the urinal is not particularly difficult, since the design itself is simple. Water is drawn above the bowl for draining, and from below - the drain itself. Also, a siphon is installed under the urinal, which prevents the penetration of unpleasant odors into the room.

Since the floor siphon does not require a connection to the water supply system, then we will consider the recommendations for the installation diagram of a wall-mounted urinal.

    1. It is necessary to immediately decide how the pipes will be supplied: hidden or open, in order to calculate the amount of work and the necessary costs for materials.
    2. If the children's urinal is not attached to suction cups or Velcro, then you need to make markings on the wall and screw it on. Before that, you should make sure of the strength of the wall - whether it can withstand the weight of the device. If the material from which the wall is made is not strong enough, then an additional structure should be assembled from the frame and panels.
    3. Connect the urinal to the room plumbing system using a siphon. The siphon outlet pipe must be connected to the sewer socket and fixed. All pipe connections must be tightly sealed.

After the installation work, it is necessary to check the health of the urinal, and only then can you start using it.

I like the mounted options the most. Simple, easy to clean. Perhaps it would have been better with a pipe connection, but we needed to be quick and easy.
