Talking about the size of washing machines usually only affects their width and depth. But height is also an important parameter. Having dealt with the properties of low washing machines and evaluating the best models of such equipment, it will be much easier to make the right choice.

Advantages and disadvantages

One of the advantages of low washing machines is obvious and connected already with their size - it is easy to put such equipment under any shelf or cabinet. And installation under the sink in the bathroom will be greatly simplified. That's why such specimens attract the attention of people trying to save living space in the house. In terms of workmanship, they are usually not inferior to full-size models. Of course if you choose the right car and take into account all the basic subtleties.

A low-rise washing machine is almost always produced with an “automatic” system. No wonder: it would be impractical to do mechanical control in such a small device. Experts point out that there are no top-loading models among the low washing units. This is due, of course, to the main motive that buyers pursue - to free the vertical plane.

Almost all specially made models not only fit perfectly under the sink, but also do not interfere with daily hygiene procedures.

However, it is worth noting a number of negative aspects of low-rise washing machines. The most important disadvantage is the small drum capacity. For a family with children, such a device is hardly suitable. Installation under the sink is possible only when using a special siphon, which is quite expensive. And the sink itself must be made in the shape of a "water lily".

Therefore, lovers of other types of plumbing are unlikely to be able to use a low washing machine. There are also purely practical weaknesses. So, it is difficult to find a model with a good spin in the small-sized class.

Engineers and ordinary consumers agree that such equipment is less reliable and does not last as long as full-size samples. But its cost is higher than that of traditional versions with a big drum.

Dimensions (edit)

There is a kind of unwritten standard for conventional washing machines - 60 cm by 60 cm by 85 cm. The last number indicates the height of the product. But manufacturers are not obliged, of course, to comply strictly with these conditional restrictions. You can find modifications, the depth of which ranges from 0.37 to 0.55 m. In the category of automatic washing machines, the height of 0.6 m is already the lowest possible value.

Sometimes even lower models are found. But they all belong to the semi-automatic or activator class. The largest of the small washing machines are 70 cm high. Although it is sometimes difficult to visually distinguish the difference with full-size models from 80 cm and above, this technique still saves a lot of free space. The smallest possible depth is 0.29 m and the smallest width is 0.46 m.

Review of the best models

Electrolux EWC 1350

A high-quality washing machine is made in Poland. The manufacturer claims that his product will be able to completely dissolve the detergent in water (subject to the prescribed dosage, of course). The designers took care about the ideal balancing of the laundry, which allows you to achieve a quiet spin. The maximum load of the Electrolux EWC 1350 is only 3 kg. She will wring out this laundry at a speed of up to 1300 rpm.

Other parameters are as follows:

  • energy consumption per working cycle - 0.57 kW;
  • water consumption per cycle - 39 liters;
  • sound volume during washing and spinning - 53 and 74 dB, respectively;
  • indication of washing stages on the display;
  • imitation of hand washing wool;
  • the ability to postpone the start for 3-6 hours;
  • hourly current consumption - 1.6 kW;
  • net weight - 52.3 kg.

Zanussi FCS 1020 C

This compact washing machine also holds up to 3 kg of laundry. She will wring it out at a maximum speed of 1000 rpm. However, as practice shows, this is quite enough. During washing, the sound volume will be 53 dB, and during the spinning process - 70 dB. Both electronic and mechanical controls are provided.

Users will definitely be pleased with:

  • washing mode in cold water;
  • additional rinsing of linen;
  • solid stainless steel drum;
  • the ability to independently determine the degree of load;
  • the ability to change the spin speed at the discretion of the user;
  • 15 programs carefully selected by engineers.

Eurosoba 600

The number "600" in the model name indicates the maximum possible spin speed. At the same time, for delicate fabrics, you can set the regulator at 500 rpm. The display is not used in this model. A programmer is provided to control the course of washing. In the official description of the manufacturer it is mentioned that such a washing machine is perfect for use in the country.

The Swiss design has more loading capacity than many other modifications - 3.5 kg. It is stated that it can work for up to 15 years. The dimensions of the device are 0.68x0.46x0.46 m.

Both the hatch and the drum are made of stainless steel. The machine will be able to automatically weigh the laundry and determine the required water consumption.

You should also pay attention to such useful options and properties as:

  • suppression of excess foam;
  • imbalance tracking;
  • partial protection against water leakage;
  • small weight (36 kg);
  • low power consumption (1.35 kW).

Eurosoba 1000 Black and White

This model has higher performance. She will be able to wash up to 4 kg of laundry at a time (in terms of dry weight). The designers have made sure that the washing machine works efficiently and safely with all types of fabrics. The "Biophase" mode is provided, which perfectly copes with blood, oily and other organic stains. The own weight of the product reaches 50 kg.

The unit is controlled in a purely mechanical way. The black and white colors taken out in the model name fully reflect the appearance of the device. Of course, foam suppression and automatic weighing are provided. Also worth noting:

  • overflow protection;
  • partial protection against water leakage;
  • automatic regulation of water flow into the tank;
  • eco-friendly mode (saving at least 20% of powder).

Candy Aqua 114D2

This machine works as well as full-size products under the same brand, which are designed for 5 kg. You can put up to 4 kg of laundry inside. The start of the wash is postponed, if necessary, up to 24 hours. The brush electric motor provides spinning at a speed of up to 1100 rpm. The current consumption per hour is 0.705 kW.

During washing, the sound volume will be 56 dB, but during spinning it rises to 80 dB. There are 17 different programs. The drum is made of stainless steel. Net weight - 47 kg. The entire surface of the product is painted white. Important: by default, this is not a built-in, but a free-standing model.

Selection features

When choosing a washing machine under the countertop, one cannot confine oneself to the consideration “to fit”. It makes no sense to buy a device that is not powerful enough. In this case, even such a mundane (and often overlooked) parameter as the length of hoses and network cables should be taken into account. It is categorically impossible to lengthen them, only direct connection to the water supply, sewerage and power supply is allowed. Therefore, it is necessary to check how the car fits into a specific place in the house.

A removable top cover is welcome.Removing it, it will be possible to save 0.02 - 0.03 m in height. It seems that this is not much - in fact, such a change allows you to fit the technique under the countertop as elegantly as possible. It is advisable to immediately make a choice between mechanical and electronic control.

When evaluating the size of the device, one should not forget about hoses, protruding hatches, outgoing boxes for powder, which are added to the standard dimensions.

Installation tips

It is advisable to connect washing machines to sockets with a 3-wire copper wire. First-class insulation is also very important. Experts advise installing residual current devices and voltage stabilizers. Docking aluminum and copper wires should be avoided in every possible way. Regardless of the specific place of installation, the machine must be placed strictly horizontally; it is even worth checking its position at the building level.

It is better to connect the drain to the drain siphon not directly, but through an additional siphon. This will help to avoid extraneous odors. The valve must be placed so that it is possible to disconnect the machine from the mains without disrupting the operation of the water supply in other parts of the house. To protect washing equipment from dirt and limescale, you can install a filter at the inlet. Another prerequisite is consideration of design features; even if the machine is covered with a wooden box, this box must match the surrounding interior.

Attention: the transit bolts must be removed in any case. Already the first starts, if these bolts are not removed, can damage the machine. Connecting to the water supply through a flexible hose is better than a rigid pipe because it is more vibration-resistant. The easiest way to drain the waste water is through a siphon located directly under the sink. The outlet where the washing machine is turned on must be 0.3 m above the plinth at least; its location is also very important, which excludes the ingress of splashes and drops.
