As a rule, Hotpoint-Ariston washing machines have a built-in self-diagnosis option, in which almost all error codes begin with the letter F. That is why the appearance of the H20 icon on the display seems rather strange.

We will try to figure out why such an error appears, and how to cope with the malfunction on our own.

What does it mean?

An error with code H20 in the Hotpoint-Ariston CMA appears in a situation when the unit there was a failure of the water intake... If in this code zero is read as the letter "O", then the well-known chemical formula of water is obtained. That is why technology manufacturers use a similar encoding to make it easier for the user to remember and understand such an error.

It should be noted that a malfunction can make itself felt when starting any washing program, usually it occurs 10-15 minutes after the machine starts working... A hallmark of a problem will be the lack of water entering the tank or set in a small volume. There are situations when water is collected in excessive quantities, but it is immediately drained - and this happens endlessly.

A little less often, a malfunction manifests itself at the stage of spinning and rinsing, although if you run these programs separately, the CMA will work out the specified cycle without problems. This is the peculiarity of the H20 encoding.

In the overwhelming majority of cases, a breakdown means a malfunction in the water filling unit. As a rule, the CMA pauses the wash cycle and writes a malfunction message to the monitor.

Reasons for the appearance

There are many reasons that lead to the appearance of the H20 error. Most often, the problem is associated with the inoperability of the filler valve: it is often clogged with particles of fine debris, as well as corrosion that gets into the unit with technical water. It is likely that you are dealing with a malfunction of the valve itself or its contacts - be sure to check if the water supply tap is open, in addition, make sure that its pressure is sufficient for the operation of the AGR. In these cases, the problems encountered have nothing to do with the operation of the equipment itself.

When draining water from the drum, the reason is often an illiterate connection of the inlet hose to the sewage system.

If there is too little water inside the unit, or, conversely, too much, then the causes of the problem are most likely rooted in the operation of the pressure switch.

In some cases, the failure of the electronic plateau leads to the appearance of an error. We pay special attention to the fact that if after the appearance of the H20 coding, the F01 coding immediately appears, then, most likely, the breakdown is associated with the second malfunction.

How to fix it?

Most often, the H20 error in the Hotpoint-Ariston washing unit can be solved on your own without resorting to the services of the service center masters. We have compiled all these minor faults into one list and made recommendations to fix the problem.

Lack of water supply to the MCA

This can happen if the shut-off valves of the fluid supply to the unit are closed, or if there is no water in the plumbing system. In the first case, it is necessary to completely unscrew the shut-off valve, and in the second, to perform actions to restore the water supply as a whole.

      Drain valve filter clogged

The filter installed in the area where the inlet hose is connected to the CMA looks like a mesh with small cells. Its main purpose is to protect the unit from large particles of debris that can lead to the destruction of its working elements. Over time, the filter becomes clogged and this leads to an error. In this case, disconnect the water supply hose, carefully remove the mesh with pliers and wash under strong water pressure.

After that, you can soak the mesh in a concentrated citric acid solution for 10-15 minutes in order to remove organic residues.

Self-draining the water from the drum

A similar malfunction usually occurs in a situation when the drain hose, as well as its connection section, are below the level of the CMA drum. In this case, the unit will pour water for a very long time at the end of the start of the wash, and then it will turn off and give an H20 error. In order to stop self-draining, you need to raise the center of the hose just above the level of the tank and fix it in this position.

Malfunction of the control board or display system

If the error with the H20 code made itself felt for the first time, then it is possible that this is a consequence of interruptions in the operation of the control unit or the display system of the machine. To cope with the problem, first you need to restart the machine - for this, it is disconnected from the electric current, left for a quarter of an hour and started again.

Important: the reason for such "glitches" is often the high humidity in the room where the AGR is installed.

If the above measures do not help, and the Hotpoint-Ariston machine, as before, refuses to run the specified program and displays the H20 error on the monitor, then most likely there are more serious problems, and you cannot do without the help of a professional technician. However, if you are determined to cope with the breakdown on your own, then we hope our recommendations will help you.

          Breakdown of the pressure switch

The collection of liquid in the CMA tank is monitored by a special water volume sensor, it provides the electronic module with information about how much liquid is poured into the tank. If this sensor fails, then both too little and too much liquid may enter the reservoir. It is not difficult to diagnose such a breakdown. To do this, you need to do a few simple steps.

Remove the top panel of the clipper. Make sure that the pressure tube connection is tight - it is possible that it is clogged or simply flew off, both of which immediately affect the operation of the entire system. In addition, the tube could break, then it will have to be replaced with a serviceable one.

After that, you need to arm yourself with a special measuring device with a multimeter and check with it all the main contacts of the pressostat and its wires.

If the listed elements of the system are serviceable and in working order, then, most likely, there is a breakdown of the sensor itself, although in fairness we note that such a malfunction occurs quite rarely. In this case, you should take a new part and put it in place of the broken one.

If checking the operation of the valve and pressure switch did not lead to the restoration of the machine's operation, and the error information still appears on the display, then it is worth checking the control board. Often the cause of a malfunction is a burned-out track or a triac, which are responsible for monitoring and controlling the operation of the water intake valve.

For to fix the breakdown, you should buy a new functioning part and fix it in place of the broken one with a soldering iron. This is a difficult technical work that is better to be entrusted to the masters - since any amateur activity can aggravate the situation and worsen the performance of the machine.

In rare cases, the Hotpoint-Ariston CMA freezes due to interruptions in the firmware of the electronic board. Sometimes the problem is solved by rebooting the "brain" - for this you need to turn off the machine and reconnect it after 25-40 minutes. If this measure did not lead to the restoration of the unit's operability, you will have to change the board, or engage in flashing it. Both are expensive, so often users simply purchase new washing equipment.

If an H20 error occurs, do not panic right away - such a malfunction is often associated with a normal malfunction of the equipment, which disappears after the device is turned off and restarted. The overwhelming majority of breakdowns with this error are insignificant, and they can be fixed on their own. - for example, clean the filter, remove the dirt plug on the drain hose, or replace the inlet hose. But in some cases, the situation requires replacement of more serious elements, for example, a control module.

In this case, you should not do the repair yourself, it will be right to contact the professionals of the service center.
