Homemade plum Renclode Tambovsky is a variety with dessert fruits suitable for fresh consumption and preservation - preserves, jams, marmalades, compotes. The fruits are used in cooking and confectionery. Thanks to unpretentious cultivation, even a beginner can cope with cultivation.

Breeding history

The originators of the variety are breeders SN Satarova and Kh. K. Yenikeev from the Central Genetic Laboratory belonging to the All-Russian Research Institute of Horticulture named after IV Michurin. The presented plum was obtained by crossing the varieties Skorospelka red and Renklod green.

Description of the variety

A medium-sized tree with a wide spreading (up to 3 meters in diameter) rounded-oval, almost spherical crown, reaches a height of 3.5 m.Skeletal branches of a grayish shade and young shoots of green color with a reddish and brownish tint are covered with dark green foliage. The leaf blade is of medium size and round in shape, serrated edges, well-visible veins and small villi.

Renclode Tambov blooms profusely - the branches are completely covered with caps of snow-white fragrant flowers, because of which the foliage and the shoot itself are practically invisible. Almost all of them form an ovary. Fruits are formed both on bouquet branches and on annual growths.

Fruit characteristics

Rounded, slightly elongated, dark purple fruits are covered with a thick bloom of pruin, have a mass of 20–35 grams and numerous subcutaneous punctures. The skin is thin but firm. A small bone separates well from the pulp.

Taste qualities

Yellow, with a greenish tinge, dense juicy pulp has a moderately sweet taste with a slight piquant sourness. The tasting committee classified the variety as dessert.

Ripening and fruiting

Plum belongs to the mid-late category - the crop is harvested in early and mid-September. Fruiting occurs 3-4 years after budding in the nursery.

After planting a plum sapling on the site, of course, the question of the beginning of the fruiting of the tree always arises. Most varieties of plums begin to bear fruit 4 years after the seedling is planted. However, there are those that differ in an earlier or later period of fruiting. The difference in the beginning of fruiting is determined by the color of the plum. So, purple varieties always begin to bear fruit earlier - by 2-4 years, but yellow varieties differ in later fruiting.

Yield

The peculiarity of this particular variety is in different fruiting, which can be regular, and then an average of 8 to 10 kg is collected from one tree. With irregular fruiting, a maximum yield of 30 kg is observed, but the average is 25 kg.

Growing regions

The variety develops well and gives a full return in the southern and central regions of the Russian Federation.

Self-fertility and the need for pollinators

Renklode Tambov is self-infertile; to obtain stable yields, there should be pollinating varieties nearby: Skorospelka red, Renklode, Renklod kolkhozny and others.

Growing and care

The planting site should be sunny - shading makes the fruit watery and savory. The soil is loose, breathable, fertile, with a moderate acid-base balance. If at the place of future growth there is not such a land, then you will have to make an effort and bring it to the desired condition. The earth is deoxidized with dolomite flour, gypsum or chalk.

Plum does not tolerate prolonged waterlogging, therefore, there should be no swampy lowlands and groundwater deposits nearby. In extreme cases, an artificially made embankment up to half a meter high saves.

The size of the planting pit is 50x50x60 cm, at the bottom a drainage 10-cm layer of pebbles, gravel, crushed stone or broken brick is organized. At the same time, a temporary support for a young tree is installed. If the soil is heavy, clayey, then add river sand, peat, enrich it with organic matter (humus, compost, bird droppings), specialized complex mineral fertilizers, wood ash.

Bad soil is removed from the site, part of the fertile mixture is poured into the pit, filling it by ⅓. The exposed roots are pre-soaked for half an hour in "Kornevin", then gently spread over the surface of the earthen mound and covered with the remaining soil. The trunk circle should be watered abundantly with warm water, and the next day, cover with a layer of mulch or loosen.

Further care of the plant consists in watering, weeding, feeding, sanitary and shaping pruning.

In the first year, a young plant needs frequent watering - drying out of the soil is unacceptable, but it is also impossible to arrange a swamp. You should be guided by the situation - in rainy weather, watering is canceled, in extreme heat and drought, it is watered every day. A mature tree is irrigated 4 times a month.

The best option for feeding plums is 3-4 times per season. In early spring, nitrogen fertilizers are applied, during the budding period they are fed with potassium-phosphorus preparations, after harvesting - with nitrophosphate, in the fall the trunk circle is covered with a thick layer of humus.

Sanitary pruning is carried out in early spring, removing damaged, dry, affected, growing inward shoots. Formative pruning allows you to give the crown a beautiful and well-groomed appearance, the removal of excess shoots allows air and sunlight to penetrate deep into the crown.

For normal development and timely release to fruiting, the plum must be planted at a favorable time, provided with food and water. It is necessary to choose the right seedling, determine the location, prepare the planting pit in advance.
If you wish to get a full harvest in the future, and to renew the tree, the plum is grafted onto crops that are classified as pink. In this case, the plum cuttings are implanted on the mother plant, which will be responsible for further vegetation and nutrition of the scion.
Pruning plums is not easy and very important. If it is not carried out, the number of branches on the tree will be excessive, the crown will become too thick, the fruits will begin to shrink. You can trim plums in spring, summer and fall.
Plum feeding is one of the important stages of fruit crop care. In order to properly and fully feed the plum tree, various types of fertilizers are used. Both mineral and organic options are used. Many of the folk remedies are found to be useful and effective.

Disease and pest resistance

The variety is characterized as having a fairly strong immunity and rarely gets sick. However, this does not guarantee a complete absence of diseases and pests. Pests such as the plum moth, aphids and plum moth can be dangerous for the plant. In the fight against parasites and diseases, traditional preventive treatments with insecticides and fungicides will help.

Despite the fact that plum is considered more hardy than many fruit trees, it is not immune from diseases. It is attacked by viral, fungal and bacterial infections, and parasitic insects harm it. It is necessary to notice and recognize the signs of plum disease in time. They are easier to deal with and defeat early on. Well, in order to protect the garden tree from such a misfortune in the future, preventive procedures can be carried out.

Resistance to soil and climatic conditions

Renklod Tambovskiy is characterized by average winter hardiness, yielding to apple and cherry trees, which does not allow growing it in temperate latitudes.

Reproduction of plums will help save on planting material: you do not have to pay money for a seedling. In addition, this activity is simple and exciting. Plum can be propagated by cuttings, root shoots and layering.
