Types and use of serpyanka for plaster

Knowledge of the types of plaster serpyanka, as well as the features of their use, is very important. Without figuring out how to use a mesh for plastering walls, it is easy to make many serious mistakes. You should also take into account professional advice on choosing the mixture itself.

A specialized tape formed by a mesh and an adhesive mass is sold under the name serpyanka for wall plastering. Such material is used in a wide variety of construction work. Where serpyanka is used, corners and uneven places are reinforced very effectively. The tape can also come in handy when working with sheets of plasterboard. Often it is used to close cracks, improve the planes on the walls and on the ceilings.

Serpyanka is used almost exclusively for interior work. The same tape that is used by plasterers is also useful for:

• applying paint;
• gluing wallpaper;
• elimination of irregularities in plasterboard structures.

The mesh is obtained on the basis of fiberglass or synthesized fibers. It is sold in rolls, the usual width of which is 5 cm. It is easier to work where such a coating is applied, and there is no risk that the surface will bulge. Important: the tape should not be glued to the material itself, but after preliminary application of the putty. This is the only way to ensure decent adhesion. Serpyanka is applicable for:

• intersections between drywall sheets;
• intersections between plasterboard sheets and other materials;
• transitions from walls to ceiling;
• connection points of finishing panels;
• junction of walls with boxes of window and door openings;
• cracked vertical and horizontal planes.

Construction serpyanka differs from the “simple” one precisely by its manufacture on the basis of synthetic fibers. As a result, the problem of rotting is completely excluded. The density of the material ranges from 0.015 to 0.05 kg per 1 sq. m. Tape "serpyanka" is rolled into rolls. Also, sometimes a braid is produced, whose width ranges from 42 to 230 mm; the length of the Serpyanka bays varies from 20 to 150 m.

Construction tape made of lavsan is produced in rolls with a width of 0.05-1 m. The total value can reach 100 linear meters. m. The largest rolls are 1.3 kg.

It is worth paying attention to the polypropylene serpyanka, also sold under the name of the construction bandage. This is a particularly thin material, unsuitable for plaster thicknesses exceeding 1 mm. But the lightness of the coating allows you to abandon the preliminary application of the putty. The polypropylene mesh is up to 0.12 m wide, the length of the rolls reaches 100 linear meters. m. Even the heaviest version weighs no more than 0.102 kg.

As for the fiberglass serpyanka, it is fragile. This is due to the use of thin glass filaments. Therefore, it is impossible to strengthen the corners. However, such a serpyanka is elastic and therefore easy to work with. The mesh reaches 90 linear meters in length. m.

Before plastering concrete or gypsum board, any type of serpyanka is used. But they pay attention to its thickness. It should not protrude outward, but the strength of the reinforcement must also be provided.... Small (0.1-0.3 cm) cells are suitable for indoor work. If you need to prepare the surface outdoors, you will need a serpyanka with a cage of 0.5 cm.

It is not difficult to use the mesh for plastering work.But it is necessary to choose periods when during operation and 48 hours after it the temperature will be approximately 20 degrees. When preparing the walls in the room, it is necessary to exclude any drafts. The base will have to be dried. Even the best serpyanka, when applied to a damp base, can provoke further deformation of the joint.

The presence of dust and dirt is strictly unacceptable. Before applying the tape, check the correct installation of the fasteners. When cutting a serpyanka, it is necessary to exclude curling and loosening of the threads. The mesh itself is pressed into the still wet plaster layer.
