Respirators are used for respiratory protection everywhere: in the food, woodworking, construction and chemical industries. At large enterprises of metallurgical and paint and varnish specialization, all workers are provided with special protective masks. One of the leading mask manufacturers is the British company Spirotek.

Peculiarities

Masks for protection against the effects of harmful substances on the human respiratory system are of several types.

First of all, all respirators have three degrees of protection.

  • FFP1. This is the lowest degree of protection - efficiency is about 80%. A respirator of this type will only protect against coarse dust at rates not exceeding four maximum permissible concentrations of harmful substances.
  • FFP2. The effectiveness of this type of mask reaches 94%. In addition to coarse dust, these respirators also trap fine and liquid aerosol contaminants. They are used in conditions when the MPC does not exceed 12.
  • FFP3. Purify the air that a person breathes by 99%. This is the highest protection class. They can be used for contamination up to 30 MPC. Excellent protection against fine solid dust and aerosols.

Respirators also differ in design.

  • Half masks. They are in the shape of a petal and only protect the respiratory system. Most often, they are additionally equipped with a valve through which breathing occurs and excess moisture is removed from the respirator. These are the most inexpensive models. They can be insulating (i.e. closed) and filtering.

Insulating models have the highest degree of protection, since they do not come into contact with pollutants.

  • Closed masks. Protect not only the respiratory system, but also the mucous membrane of the eyes from toxic substances. Typically, these respirators are used when biological threats (viruses, bacteria), as well as when working with highly toxic pollutants.

Model overview

The most popular are disposable masks from Spirotek, which are presented below.

  • VS 2200V. It is a half mask with an exhalation valve. The material from which the product is made is non-flammable. Spirotek VS2100V is equipped with a special valve that allows the respirator to be used in conditions of low and high temperatures, as well as high humidity. The degree of protection is up to 12 MPC (FFP 2). The inner surface of the half mask is made of hypoallergenic material.
  • Spirotek VS 2100V. Protects in conditions with a concentration of harmful aerosols up to 4 MPC (FFP 1). This half mask features an ergonomic shape and additional sealing material in the nose area for added comfort. The product will provide excellent protection against dust, fog and smoke.

Thanks to the adjustable straps, the mask can be precisely "adjusted" to individual sizes.

    • Spirotek VS 2200CV. This half mask is distinguished by the presence of a special Typhoon exhalation valve with a protective cover, as well as an additional filtering layer based on charcoal, which increases protection against irritating effects of gases and vapors (up to 1 MPC). Terms of use - from -400C to + 70C and at a concentration of harmful substances up to 12 MPC (FFP 2). The half mask has a special shape that allows you to complement it with protective or regular glasses (with diopters).
      • Spirotek VS 2200AV. Also equipped with a Typhoon valve. It allows you to additionally protect a person from the effects of irritating gases and vapors. General protection - up to 12 MPC.
        • Spirotek VS 2200WV. This respirator is specially designed for welders. Provides reliable protection in environmental conditions with a concentration of harmful substances up to 12 MPC (FFP 2).The outer layer in the form of cells perfectly protects the product from dirt and deformation.

A distinctive feature of this model is a low profile, which allows you to supplement the half mask with welding goggles or a shield.

          • Spirotek VS 2300V. This is an anti-aerosol half mask that protects against pollution up to 50 MPC (FFP 3). Equipped with an exhalation valve "Typhoon".

This mask has been tested to protect against fine dust.

            Selection rules

Spirotek produces high-quality masks, any of them will reliably protect a person from inhaling harmful substances, but provided that the product is selected correctly.

In order for the half mask to reliably protect and be convenient to use, some recommendations should be followed when buying.

            1. Possible number of applications. Disposable respirators are affordable, they are simply thrown away after use, which means there is no need to clean the product and change filters. Reusable products need to be properly processed after use, their cost is an order of magnitude higher than disposable models. If PPE is used frequently, a reusable mask is the best choice.
            2. The size of the respirator must correspond to the individual parameters of the person. There are three sizes of half masks available as standard. In most stores, you can try on the product, making sure that it is securely fixed to your head and that the adjusting rubber bands do not press too hard.
            3. The presence of an exhalation valve. Such half masks are significantly better than models without a valve. The fact is that this device allows moisture to be removed from the mask space, thereby ensuring a longer service life of the mask. For comparison, a regular half mask without a valve must be changed every 2-3 hours, while models equipped with it may not lose their properties for 8 hours.
            4. Manufacturing material. Better to give preference to modern nonwovens. These respirators are hypoallergenic and more comfortable to wear.
            5. Contamination protection level. The greater the amount of harmful substances, the more reliable protection a half mask should have.

Protective half masks from Spirotek are reliable and affordable, and a wide range of models will allow everyone to choose a product for their needs.
