Correct fastenings for a corrugated board fence without welding are very important in practice. All site owners need to figure out what components are needed in a particular case. The next significant question is how to make a prefabricated fence from a profiled sheet with fasteners without welding (according to technology) with your own hands.

Peculiarities

Beautiful and relatively strong corrugated fences are very convenient in practice. However, it is critical to get this construction right. The mistakes can be quite serious. Provided correct installation, there is no doubt about the convenience and long service life.

It is advisable to mount the profiled sheet on the fence without welding. The point is that even perfect welds, by definition, weaken structures and reduce their lifespan.

For a thick metal, this is not very important, but for a thin profile, this factor is very significant.

Fence fasteners are selected taking into account the material of the pillars and other supporting structures.

  • Brick and stone supports are required to be mounted on auxiliary lintels, and not on the stone itself.
  • It is not recommended to use wooden posts for corrugated boarding. Even well-treated wood with proper care will last a maximum of 10 years. This solution is only suitable for temporary hedges.
  • Sheets can be installed on the professional pipe quite easily.

It is recommended to additionally paint the barrier.

Types of fasteners

There are various accessories for fixing the corrugated board to the fence. Most often, self-tapping screws are used for this purpose. This solution is suitable even for inexperienced, novice craftsmen. The bolted connection (more precisely, on self-tapping screws) is quite reliable and guarantees the durability of the structure.

Unlike a simple screw, such a product provides a very fast fastening. The reason is obvious: there is no need to pre-drill the metal. Self-tapping screws are made from carbon or stainless steel alloys. In some cases, strong types of brass are used for them.

It is worth noting that some self-tapping screws are made with the expectation of screwing into concrete; they are necessarily made from the toughest steel grades and are pre-drilled.

There is no point in using expensive roofing grade fasteners. It is quite possible to get by with simplified products with a press washer. For your information: the same hardware is suitable for the facades of houses. They are specially coated to reduce the risk of corrosion. It is useful if there is also a decorative layer that exactly matches the color of the profiled sheet itself; in some cases, additional equipment with rubber gaskets is practiced.

Self-tapping screws can be designed mainly for wood or metal. The first option has infrequent threads and ends with a sharp end. It is suitable for joining sheets with a thickness of 1.2 cm. Products for metal mounting are equipped with more frequent cuts and are attached to the base with a layer of up to 0.2 mm.

Self-tapping screws can have:

  • a hexagon-shaped head (it is more comfortable than a slotted one and looks more harmonious);
  • a large washer (it reduces the threat of deformation or destruction of a thin sheet, increases the service life of a heavily loaded hardware);
  • synthetic rubber gasket (much better leakage protection).

It makes no sense to take hardware with a zinc coating less than 12.5 microns for the profiled sheet.If it is too thin, weather resistance is not guaranteed. The length of products for metal varies from 1.3 to 15 cm, for wood - from 2.9 to 8 cm. The section will be 0.42-0.63 and 0.35-0.48 cm, respectively. Weight per 1000 units can vary from 4 to 50 kg; standard tensile strength - 100-150 kg at least.

Trying to use screws without wide washers is to provoke rapid deterioration of the flooring.

Soon, the sheet may come off and completely collapse. Even the retention itself with simple screws is not effective enough. In addition, only the gasket makes it possible to compensate for the local breakdown of the protective coatings. The number of fasteners is determined by the number of lags and overlap.

In some cases, brackets for corrugated board are used. By default, they are in the shape of the letter V. Such products allow you to connect engineering systems. Brackets for flooring with a hole are made of galvanized metal with a thickness of 0.2 cm. The size of the hole is M8, M10 or M12; the same rivet nuts are provided.

The V-shaped bracket is made with weld-on nuts. For its manufacture, a galvanized alloy with a thickness of 0.15-0.2 cm is used. This solution allows you to suspend engineering systems to a profiled sheet with a small wave. Most often, the bracket has only mounting holes located at the edges.

Sometimes the profiled sheet is mounted using rivets, the cross-section of which varies from 3.1 to 6.7 mm. The fasteners are screwed in with a special gun. Usually they spend 7-10 units of hardware per 1 sq. m. This solution allows you to refuse through drilling (it is carried out only on one side). When buying rivets, you need to pay attention to the mass of the profile (in accordance with the bearing capacity of the fasteners).

Installation technology

Making a fence from a professional sheet with your own hands is not so difficult. It is recommended to wrap the hardware with a screwdriver. Experts advise, when calculating the number of fasteners, to double their number at the ends in comparison with the usual calculation. Then the building will be stronger and more stable. The support elements must be screwed in at right angles to the deck surface.

Assembling a fence from a profiled sheet on bolts is no more difficult than using self-tapping screws. Moreover, the bolts can only be obtained from the inside of the site. This increases the security against intruders. It is worth considering that it is impossible to install the bolts alone. In addition, they are clearly more expensive than self-tapping screws and at the same time less diverse in visual terms - there are only silver and black models.

In order for the prefabricated fence to be reliable and beautiful, you will first need to try on parts of the structure. After marking the bolt, a passage is drilled. Only then is the workpiece attached to the cross members. Usually 6 bolts are consumed per profile sheet. Regardless of the choice of hardware, it is necessary to look so that the sheets adjoin tightly, and the overlap is uniform.
