Soldering stretch ceilings is a popular decorative technique and a necessary element when covering a large area of the room. With the help of modern equipment - machines and seam patterns, you can form original design elements or connect narrow canvases into one continuous structure. It is better to understand the difference between straight and curved soldering of black and white or colored ceilings, a complete overview of all the important points of installation and the very technology of their creation will help.

Peculiarities

When placing stretch ceiling structures in a spacious room - in a hall, hall, home library, it is often necessary to cover a significant surface area. Non-breaking material webs - in fabric or PVC-performance, rarely have a width of more than 3-4.5 m, respectively, they cannot form an integral structure in the interior. In this case, stretch ceilings are soldered. along the edges of individual stripes.

This allows you to get a canvas of almost any size, and also leaves a lot of room for the implementation of design ideas.

The use of soldering is often seen as an alternative to creating a layered design.... Instead of loss of height, a color ceiling uniform in height is obtained with any number of color combinations. On matte canvases, the seam is practically invisible, glossy and satin ones do not have such an advantage. In addition, it is not recommended to combine two different textures in one coating, since characteristic micro-risks can form along the edge of the joint, which appear especially clearly in bright sunlight.

Poorly suited for adhesion and textured or decorated coatings. Mother-of-pearl, metallization, glitter and silk imitation prevent the formation of a strong bond. The highest quality seam is obtained when creating a solid canvas from materials with a general texture, density and thickness. When performing work on soldering on the machine, the finished ceiling will withstand practically the same loads as its unbreakable, one-piece counterpart.

The ways

You can connect the edges of PVC stretch ceiling canvases using 4 methods. Among the available methods are the following.

  1. Connection or HFC welding on a special press... It is used by the largest firms, provides reliable fastening of the edges of the canvases.
  2. Chemical bonding with chloroacetic or methyl chloride based substances... Quite a rare way, it is used in production to create non-standard design solutions.
  3. Welding on rolls and presses... It is carried out only in production, it is carried out directly during the manufacture of products.
  4. Roller soldering. Such machines are the most readily available and widespread. Almost any company that provides PVC ceiling tensioning services has them.

In most cases, it is the roller or HDTV method of fastening the elements that is used. The choice of technology largely depends on how the soldering will be performed. There are 2 main options.

Rectilinear

This scheme provides for the connection of the even edges of the canvas. Welding of PVC in this way is fast and ensures high reliability of seam soldering. The following technologies are used for soldering.

  • Roller machining. In principle, it resembles a plotter for printing images on textiles. The edges to be joined are placed on a substrate, a thermal roller is rolled along them on runners. Usually, just one hot pass is sufficient to obtain a strong connection. The processing temperature is the same as that needed to melt the vinyl.
  • Soldering by chemical method... For this, press clamps are used, mechanically connecting PVC, melting under the influence of a solvent. Unlike gluing, there are no foreign inclusions between the edges. The material literally fuses to form a single fabric with a seam width of only 1 mm. It is only important to observe accuracy when applying the reagent in order to maintain the specified geometry for the soldering line.

These methods are quite simple, they are often used when creating single-color one-piece large canvases, significantly reducing the cost of the finished ceiling.

Curvilinear

The soldering method, in which parts of the stretch ceiling are connected by smooth transitions and bends, is called curvilinear. It is technologically more complicated than usual, since at the slightest disruption to the production process, the strength of the entire structure suffers. It is quite difficult to make an accurate calculation of the tension of materials with such fastening of parts.

It is important to understand that a curved seam is made in short straight sections of 10-15 cm in order to ensure uniformity of impact along the entire length.... With different thicknesses of materials, the joint formed by the HDTV head roller is more noticeable.

Color selection

When determining the color palette of the future multi-component canvas it is better not to mix more than 2 colors. The most impressive are contrasting combinations of black and white, red and white, green and yellow, light blue and dark blue matte finish. The seam on them is almost invisible, the whole composition looks whole and harmonious.

Be sure to take into account the peculiarities of the stylistic solution. In an interior with strict geometry, it is better to make straight joints, which help to further zone the space.

Wavy and zigzag connections are suitable for creating an atmosphere of home comfort. Variants with sharp transitions or multi-colored ornaments will decorate the space in an avant-garde style.

Functional aspects are also taken into account. The choice of color combinations can be directly related to the purpose of the object.

    • Kitchen... Calm coffee, beige colors look good here. You can also play in contrast by combining white with juicy light green, lemon, orange, grassy green, fuchsia. These colors emphasize the zoning of the space if the kitchen serves as a dining room at the same time. Banned - black, mocha, dark green.
    • Bedroom. This room requires the use of soft pastel colors - beige, milky, peach, dusty rose, delicate turquoise.
    • Children's. You can zone the sleeping area with a soft blue, pink, creamy or pink-beige tone of cocoa, and in the playroom you can make the ceiling bright and juicy, but taking into account the contrasts. It can be orange, blue, plum, yellow, red combined with white.
    • Living room. For this room, the overall compliance of all interior details is very important. In a designer room in an avant-garde or boho style, an orange-purple, coral-blue ceiling will look interesting. For a living room in an oriental style, Japanese minimalism in a combination of black and white or red and white is more suitable. For a classic interior, you can use white and gray tones.

    Tools and materials

It is important to understand that any soldering when working with stretch ceilings requires the use of precision industrial equipment. It will not work to connect the canvases with a hairdryer "right on the spot". The material is prepared in advance and joined in a workshop specially equipped for these tasks.

The professional soldering machine is a batch-type HDTV equipment with a desktop installation. It is compact, efficient enough, and uses high-frequency current to create seams.

The most authoritative company in the production of HDTV machines is VelDech - its PVC welders are equipped with pneumatic drives. In addition, when selecting equipment are important:

    • dimensions of the structure (length, width, height);
    • heat exposure time adjustment;
    • power of the supplied current.

Also, the required equipment includes a computer with specialized software for calculating the geometry of curved structures and creating a projection for cutting canvases. Only high accuracy and thorough verification of all data can save the operator from mistakes when working directly with the web.

In addition, the production must be special cutting table with a PVC cutting machine. A PC-based layout map is fed to it. All processes are automated, but require control by the operator due to the dimensions of the canvases and the possible distortion of their geometry during feeding.

    Technology

After choosing the technology for joining the canvases, a diagram of the future fastening of the elements is drawn up. It is also needed for a rectilinear type of soldering - to determine the location of the seam, agreeing it with the customer. In the case of a curved connection, a future pattern is drawn up according to the scheme, and it can contain an unlimited number of details. It is only important that the film of different colors has the same density and stretch coefficient, otherwise, under load - when flooding, tears may appear at the attachment point.

Before the material is cut, the scheme is calculated on a PC, separately for each half.

The simplest is considered to be a curvilinear symmetric junction, the details of which are located in a mirror image. The more colors or details are involved, the more difficult the joining process is. Schemes in the form of oriental symbols in monochrome colors are popular - the symbols of yin and yang.

The production process of a brazed stretch ceiling is as follows.

    1. Calculation of the cutting scheme.
    2. Formation of a markup map... It is transferred to the canvases automatically or printed out and the cutting points are applied manually.
    3. Along the lines formed, cutting material.
    4. Pieces of PVC prepared for soldering are turned inside out, grabbed with clamps. This will keep the material on the machine while the seam is being formed.
    5. The edges of the blades are placed on a soldering table.... A head is installed on top - a current conductor, the joint is pressed. Within 2-3 seconds, the surface of the web is exposed to heat, which does not require the use of additional consumables for gluing the edges.
    6. The work item rises. The next section is leveled, sent under the head. At one time, no more than 15 cm of the seam is processed. This is necessary to create a strong connection.

Upon completion of the work, the operator receives a completely ready-to-install one-piece web structure with a barely noticeable seam.
