Nothing gives a feeling of coziness and inviting atmosphere like a beautiful bedspread. Made of different materials, it gives the furniture a neat look, emphasizing its uniqueness. Among the huge selection of types of canvases, jacquard bedspreads are especially popular with buyers.

Features and Benefits

Jacquard bedspreads are universal models of capes that have entered the classics of furniture coatings. Jacquard is not a composition of fabric or fiber, as many mistakenly believe: the name means a special way of weaving threads, forming a complex colored pattern.

Its name is associated with the name Joseph Jacquard, who invented a special loom in 1801, on which a unique fabric was created. Today, production is carried out on modern equipment, but the original principle of creating a pattern has remained unchanged: a complex woven pattern must be repeated.

Jacquard bedspreads have a lot of advantages, they are:

  • are made from threads of different origins (natural, artificial, mixed), differing in the finished fabric in a different type of surface texture;
  • intended for different types of furniture (suitable for a bed, sofa, armchairs, crib and even a folding bed);
  • have a wide range of sizes, allowing you to purchase a product exactly according to the measurements of furniture, taking into account the decorative allowance of the side edges;
  • due to the special interlacing of the threads, they are resistant to deformation (do not stretch), are distinguished by high strength rates and excellent performance characteristics;
  • have a dense, pleasant to the touch texture with a slight relief and a double-sided mirror pattern;
  • are considered durable furniture coverings, easy to use, compact and mobile when folded;
  • unpretentious in care, calmly tolerate washing in a washing machine on a delicate mode and are not capricious when ironing;
  • have the richest color gamut, due to which they are able to fit into a different color type of the interior, being a bunch of existing style items or an accent of a room;
  • they are made with a different theme of the picture, thanks to which they can be used in a specific chosen style, emphasizing the design idea, and also create a visual illusion of an increase in space;
  • are single canvases or are part of a set, supplemented by pillowcases on pillows;
  • depending on the model and the volume of components, they differ in different costs, allowing you to choose a product taking into account your preferences and not to the detriment of the existing budget.

Buyers consider the disadvantage of jacquard bedspreads to be the high cost of spacious models made of natural threads. In addition, products are distinguished by the ability to accumulate dust, look untidy and too simple if they consist of one layer.

Views

Depending on the origin of the threads that form the canvas (satin, linen, silk, woolen, cotton and synthetic), jacquard bedspreads are divided into several varieties:

  • jacquard satin - the usual tapestry fabrics made of cotton without a clearly marked seamy side (embossed front and depressed seamy), double-sided jacquard with a mirror change of pattern on each side (stylish elite bedspreads);
  • jacquard-atlas - models with a shiny-looking and smooth texture, iridescent in the sun, made with different weaving steps when creating a canvas (elegant and solemn bedspreads);
  • silk jacquard - canvases made of natural and mixed threads with pleasant tactile sensations, characterized by a minimum thickness of material, a shiny texture, a presentable appearance, excellent hygroscopicity and air exchange;
  • fleece-jacquard - a pique jacquard bedspread - a special type of fabric with a combined interweaving of two thickened threads that looks like honeycombs, miniature rhombuses or a cage (the structure of textiles for polo shirts), depending on the variety, can be knitted, for children (with fleece) , dividing into plain and multi-colored canvases.

Models differ in the number of layers, so there are:

  • single-layer, in the form of a canvas with a dense or thin texture, characterized by the absence of decor and visualization of both sides;
  • multi-layered, consisting of a front jacquard layer, a padding polyester insulation and a back layer of satin or polyester (quilted models with a mass of decorative elements in the form of ruffles, frills, textile flowers, bows, pleats, ribbons and other additions).

Each model is unique in its own way and, with the right choice to the main elements of the interior, can decorate such styles as country, kitsch, shabby chic, minimalism, fusion, hi-tech and others.

By the type of production, jacquard bedspreads can be simple capes or quilted models with an inner layer of insulation, which gives the bedspread texture and significantly increases the presentable appearance.

Color and pattern

The colors of jacquard bedspreads are varied. More often, the drawing consists of two soft contrasts: excess paints can deprive the canvas of luxury and sophistication. However, in the lines there are models with a skillfully selected palette of three or four shades that do not interrupt the sophistication and luxury of the pattern. The repeating print of the canvas can be complex, large-patterned, one- and two-sided, pile (jacquard fleece) or concise, shaded with a stitch.

The main line is made up of models with a contrast of two shades of the same color: the pattern is obtained by interweaving light and bright threads. It is customary to select the tone in such a way that it merges with the overall design idea, but does not fill the area of the room with an abundance of the same color. A jacquard bedspread will be appropriate if its shade matches the tone of a table lamp, a flower pot, or a picture frame.

Today, the focus is on gentle pastel shades (pink turquoise, blue, light green, light green, turquoise, powdery, mint, lilac), as well as tones for gold and silver (beige and light gray silk).

Dimensions (edit)

The size range of jacquard blankets is varied. It can be conditionally divided into several categories:

  • for children - compact products with dimensions of 100x140, 120x145 cm;
  • single - options for a single bed with parameters 90x200, 100x200, 120x200 cm;
  • one and a half sleeping - canvases with dimensions of 140x200, 150x200,160x220, 170x240 cm;
  • double - models, the length and width of which is 200x220, 20x240, 230x250, 250x260, 250x270, 260x280 cm;
  • euro size - spacious counterparts with dimensions of 200x220, 220x240, 240x260 cm.

Subtleties of choice

In order for the purchased product to successfully fit into the existing interior, be durable and emphasize the delicate taste of the owners of the house, it is worth taking note some simple tips:

  • a silk jacquard bedspread looks beautiful and expensive, but it is unstable to the appearance of clues, puffs and wrinkles during operation, and after washing it leaves streaks, which makes the bed look sloppy;
  • jacquard-satin is somewhat denser, wrinkles less, but if there is a pet in the house, it will quickly become unattractive (forms clues from animal claws);
  • jacquard-satin bedspreads are comfortable, have less crease, are environmentally friendly, suitable for any season, are air-permeable, do not accumulate static electricity, however, they can shrink slightly after washing;
  • The best models are quilted products with a sintepon layer, a pile underside and additional decor: they practically do not wrinkle, they can be a stylish cape and a light blanket.

The choice is made taking into account the characteristics of the bed: so that the product covers the furniture from all sides, except for the headboard with a back, 30-40 cm are added to the sleeping area on each side.This stock will allow you to beautifully decorate the surface by closing the sides of the furniture.

Taking measurements before purchasing a product is a prerequisite.

If the model of the bedspread has a frill at the edges, it should be edged in the desired size: it is ugly if the frill of the purchased bedspread will be located on a horizontal surface, instead of vertically on three sides. Fringe is excluded: it simplifies the look of the material, instead of luxury, it brings banality and boredom to the style
