Any parents want to be sure of the safety of their kids during their outdoor games at their summer cottage. The presence of a playground can act as its guarantor, however, in order to protect children from injuries, scratches and abrasions, it is necessary to choose the right coverage for this area. Modern manufacturers offer different options. These are plastic and rubber modules, artificial turf, soft tiles. Let's consider the advantages and disadvantages of such coatings in more detail.

How to choose?

Undoubtedly, the easiest way is to cover the playground with sand or lay an artificial lawn there. In addition, these methods will not require serious financial costs from the parents. However, in humid conditions and after precipitation, babies will not feel comfortable on such a surface. As for the cleaning of the territory, it will also cause certain difficulties.

Seamless rubber and soft pads are in great demand. This is due to the fact that these materials do not wear out for a long time, and, if necessary, can be easily repaired. Coverings can be laid using two different technologies (self-leveling and modular). The main thing is to carefully prepare the surface before starting work. Also, consumers often use plastic modules due to their low price, ease of installation and maintenance.

Before deciding on the choice of flooring, it is necessary to assess the quality of all options, focusing on the price category. Important points are the verification of the necessary certificates and compliance with GOST. At the same time, it is important to foresee what area will be allocated for the arrangement of the playground, whether it is possible to prepare the surface on your own, whether professional assistance is required during installation.

Varieties

Thanks to modern technologies, the choice of coatings for playgrounds is presented on the market with a fairly wide range. The main point that buyers are guided by is the reduction of the risk of injury to the child. Most often, parents opt for such types as tartan, plastic, soft tiles, natural turf and artificial turf. Let's try to figure out why these options are in greatest demand.

Tartan coating

This material is known for the fact that it is often used in stadiums to equip treadmills for athletes. The composition contains synthetic rubber, which protects users from dust, does not emit harmful substances, and also does not provoke allergic reactions. Despite the fact that the coating can have a rather bright color, it is absolutely harmless to the health of children, since natural dyes are used in the production.

The laying technology in this case is bulk. The surface must be flat and firm. Preferred options are asphalt and concrete. The coating retains its original appearance for a long time, is resistant to mechanical stress and temperature extremes, does not slip at all and is perfectly cleaned. However, the material has a rather high price, and for installation it is necessary to resort to the services of specialists.

Artificial turf

This surface has advantages over conventional lawn grass. It is much less trampled than natural, paths and bare areas do not appear on it.Artificial turf is appreciated for the fact that it constantly looks great and does not stain things.

In this case, it is important to pay attention to the height of the blades of grass. It will be difficult for very young children to play in too tall grass. In addition, it should be clarified what density the lawn will have, which will directly affect its convenience, and what thickness the blades of grass will have, which will determine the aesthetic value of the coating.

Before laying such a lawn, you need to take care of surface preparation. First you need to clean it, get rid of debris, level it as much as possible. If the flooring is to be laid directly on top of the ground, it must first be tamped using a roller or board of sufficient width. If the area is too uneven, you can get rid of the top layer of the earth.

Due attention should be paid to the drainage system. If it is absent, there will be a risk of soil rotting under the lawn. Therefore, you will have to make ditches through which rainwater will drain.

If the surface is made of asphalt or concrete, a backing should be made before laying. Its sheets are superimposed with edges on top of each other, and the joints are glued. Also, the border is fixed with glue. After 12 hours, the grass will straighten and begin to stretch upward. After installation, an ideal surface is obtained, which is not afraid of precipitation and temperature drops. Also, it does not wear out and does not fade in the sun.

Rubber modular cover

Experts consider this option the safest for young children. In addition, it is durable, does not wear out, and is not afraid of heat and precipitation. Products have a bright color scheme, allowing you to choose the desired option for every taste. At the same time, the dyes used are absolutely harmless to the health of babies. The coating is non-toxic, does not cause allergic reactions, and absorbs noise.

Since this type of coating is presented in a wide variety of colors, consumers can bring to life the most unexpected design ideas. It should be noted that drainage is not required in this case. The outflow of water is carried out independently.

The rubber modular cover can be soft or hard. It can be located both on a solid surface and on the ground. The thickness of the modules is from 30 to 80 millimeters. When preparing the soil, the selected area is cleaned, carefully compacted and covered with a small layer of rubble, on top of which cement mixed with sand is laid. After that, you need to use a primer.

The modules are fixed with bushings, they exclude the possibility of displacement of the coating during use. If the laying is done on top of asphalt or concrete, the surface is treated with a special primer, which will also prevent the appearance of cracks and fill the existing ones. The glue is applied with a roller or brush, and the tiles are placed on top and pressed firmly. In this case, the water flow should have a slope of 2 percent.

Modular plastic cover

This option is made of plastic elements that are resistant to water and temperature fluctuations. It does not require any specific experience to install, it is an environmentally friendly product. The indisputable advantage and distinctive feature of this coating is the ability to disassemble if necessary. This is especially convenient in summer cottages. Maintenance includes periodic flushing with water from a hose.

The cover should not be placed on grass. It is better to cover the surface with sand, wet it and tamp it thoroughly. The squares made of modules are securely fixed on such a surface.

Natural coating

This is the most inexpensive option, however it has limitations. Due to the potential for injury to children, it is not recommended to use gravel and crushed stone. You can consider sand, natural grass, decorative chips as suitable options. Concrete should be applied with great care.
