Peculiarities

Modern buyers choose porcelain stoneware for parquet. It replaces conventional parquet flooring.

There are many advantages when choosing such porcelain stoneware:

  • price;
  • practicality;
  • aesthetics;
  • environmental friendliness;
  • easy care;
  • resistance to absorption of unpleasant odors;
  • lack of deformation;
  • resistance to temperature changes;
  • durability;
  • variety of color palette;
  • presentability.

When choosing porcelain stoneware, it is important to consider the size of the tiles.

The following sizes are most often in demand:

  • 200x1200 mm;
  • 300x1200 mm;
  • 300x1800 mm.

The first two are considered widely used. In practice, they are often combined with each other to add flavor to the interior. In addition to these sizes, you can find on sale varieties of 150x900, 250x1500 mm and other options.

Laying technology

Porcelain stoneware under parquet is produced in the format of parquet tiles. Laying is carried out using the same technology. It is worth paying attention to the fact that cement mortar cannot be used in the work. Porcelain stoneware tiles are laid on a two-component adhesive. This adhesive has high adhesion.

Laying takes place in several stages:

  • Preparation. It consists in leveling the floor. For example, using a concrete screed.
  • Preparing the glue. Mixing takes place strictly according to the instructions.
  • Styling. The glue is applied to the floor and tiles. For easier application, purchase a spatula or trowel. Next, lay the tiles edge to edge. Be sure to control the level.
  • Grinding seams. The final stage is carried out only a day later (after the glue has completely dried).

The laying technology is optimally simple. Observe all the nuances, and everything will work out. Do not forget about the distance between the tiles. Experts advise purchasing plastic crosses. Place them at the junction of 4 tiles. In the process of work, it may be necessary to cut the tiles (for example, due to the irregular shape of the room). To do this, use a tile cutter.

Styling types

There are several types of laying porcelain stoneware tiles under parquet:

  • chessboard - stacking in squares;
  • laying in a straight line, diagonally;
  • braiding - interweaving of wood veneer;
  • laying tiles of different sizes;
  • laying with an offset of a fifth of the tile length;
  • herringbone - at an angle of 45 degrees.

Colors and design

Today, the texture is not surprising to anyone. When purchasing material, pay attention to the striking design and uniqueness of porcelain stoneware tiles. Porcelain stoneware finishes can be divided into five groups:

  • Classic granite. This is a copy of a typical floor. Such a floor is laid with a herringbone, deck. Porcelain stoneware is produced in the form of long dies or square plates. A print of a narrow parquet floor is usually applied to the surface.
  • Floorboard with orthogonal or tangential cut. It can be of several types: lacquered, vintage, antique solid wood, classic flooring, similar to natural solid wood (suitable for country, modern design). Brushed matte, semi-matt board is used in billiard rooms, clubs, restaurants, libraries, bedrooms. The vintage is characterized by chips, abrasions on the tiles, inscriptions. Antique solid wood is a fashion trend (old wood).
  • Wooden mosaic. There are two types - standard and 3D.In size it resembles standard dies, or large slabs with mosaic decor. Dies are performed mainly with geometric faces, which makes working with them laborious.
  • Palace or inlaid parquet. Such porcelain stoneware tiles look expensive and beautiful. This is due to the fact that many decorative techniques are used in production (inclusions from stone, squares, stars).
  • Plywood, OSB, chipboard. This option seems impossible, many buyers are afraid to purchase such a tile. In terms of performance, it is not inferior to the rest of the options.

For each porcelain stoneware tile, different decoration methods are used:

  • mosaic;
  • burning out;
  • graffiti;
  • ornaments (Mezen, Moroccan).
