The jigsaw is a versatile compact tool that allows you to cut thin products from a variety of materials. This article covers the features and range of Hammer electric jigsaws.

Brand info

Hammer Werkzeug GmbH was founded in Germany in the late 1980s. From the very beginning, the creators decided to engage in the production of power tools. In the course of development and optimization of the structure, the company moved its head office to Prague, and most of its production facilities to China.

Peculiarities

The range of jigsaws of the company is designed to work with different types of materials, namely wood, plastic, metal and even ceramics. The difference between products from most analogs from the budget segment is the high quality of assembly and a well-thought-out ergonomic design of the handle, made with the use of elastic materials, which increases the convenience and safety of the tool.

All models provide for the connection of a vacuum cleaner for removing sawdust.

Models

The most popular models of the company's network jigsaws on the Russian market are several options.

  • LZK 550 - budget model without pumping mode with a power of 550 watts. The maximum cutting speed is 3000 strokes / min, which allows cuts in wood to a depth of 60 mm, and in steel to a depth of 8 mm. There is no possibility of quick attachment of the file.
  • LZK 650 - a version with increased power up to 650 W and the presence of a pendulum mode, which allows you to cut wood 75 mm deep.
  • LZK 850 - the most powerful (850 W) and expensive option with the pumping mode, which allows you to cut wood to a depth of 100 mm or steel to a depth of 10 mm.

The assortment of the company also includes cordless jigsaws, the most popular of which is the LZK 1000.

This model is equipped with a storage device with a capacity of 1.3 Ah, is characterized by a cutting frequency of 600 to 2500 strokes / min and the absence of a pumping mode. These parameters allow the tool to cut wood to a depth of 30 mm, and steel to a depth of 3 mm. The possibility of quick fastening of the canvas is provided.

Advice

To work with the tool as efficiently, convenient and safe as possible, it is necessary to adjust it before starting the process. Jigsaws are usually equipped with three basic adjusters. The first one is responsible for the slope of the sole. In most cases, it is sufficient to set it strictly perpendicular to the cutting axis. Only in rare situations does it become necessary to install a different angle (to perform cuts of inclined structures or to obtain parts of complex shapes).

The second important setting is the cutting frequency regulator. She is always selected for a specific material and used canvas empirically.

When working with soft materials (such as wood), it is worth setting the speed to the maximum available position, while hard products (metal and ceramics) are best cut at the lowest frequency. When using a narrow blade, it is worth lowering the frequency slightly to prevent overheating or breakage.

The third important regulator is responsible for the presence and amplitude of the longitudinal component of the rod movement ("pumping"). It is worth dwelling on this adjustment in more detail. It is recommended to increase the amplitude of the longitudinal stroke only when cutting thick enough wood products., since the pendulum vibrations of the blade allow you to remove chips from the cut.

If you need to quickly make a not very accurate cut of a soft part, you can set the regulator to the maximum position. If you have to work with a jigsaw with ceramics or metal, then it is better to remove the pumping to zero, otherwise you may encounter a crooked cut or even damage the blade.

When purchasing a Hammer tool, you should immediately choose and buy an additional set of files for different materials and parts, since most models are equipped with either one universal file or separate files for metal and wood.

Reviews

Most owners of Hammer jigsaws note their high quality at a very reasonable cost, as well as the convenience of working with the tool due to its ergonomics. Owners of budget models like the LZK550 consider the lack of a swap mode to be the main drawback.

The quality of stamped steel soles in cheap tool options is also a source of criticism.... Some reviewers note that despite the presence of a network of certified service centers, some spare parts for repairs sometimes have to be ordered from China.
