Brightness of colors, passion and cheerfulness are the main features of the interior in the Mexican style. Every detail of it radiates positive and energy. To some, such an abundance of original ornaments and specific strokes will seem overly catchy - and even tasteless. But such is the nature of the Mexican, childishly direct and always enthusiastic perception of the world.

Specific traits

In the interior of Russian apartments and houses, this style direction cannot be called widespread - it is too exotic and has a kind of southern mentality, unusual for the peoples of cold countries. But still Mexican style, if you use some of its techniques and folklore motives in decoration and decor, will create an incredibly warm, positive atmosphere in your home.

Characteristics:

  • surprisingly colorful and organic combination of different colors in the interior of one room;
  • the main colors are red, burgundy, terracotta, dark blue and dark green, rich yellow, noble brown, bright colors are diluted with pure azure shades of walls, furniture and curtains;
  • the floors are tiled or tiled with mosaics, decorated with bright original rugs and paths made of bamboo, palm fibers;
  • embossed plaster or paint is used for walls - the deliberately rough texture of the coating is especially appreciated;
  • the ideal ceiling in the Mexican genre is wooden (preferably real beams);
  • the kitchen and bathroom are almost always tiled with patterned tiles or tiles with a decorative insert;
  • interior doors are often replaced with fancy semicircular arches, colored stained-glass windows;
  • windows can follow the contours of arches, but there are also usual shapes with multi-colored shutters, their design can be different, but the use of wooden blinds is characteristic;
  • the furniture is made of common and valuable species: walnut, pine, cherry, etc .;
  • niches with candles, mirrors, figurines installed in them are considered typical decor elements;
  • plastered walls suggest decorations in the form of paintings made in national and modern styles, necessarily bright, but also coinciding with the general palette.

Also characteristic features of the style are dishes and utensils made of ceramics, houseplants (mainly cacti). If the house is made in this style, then cacti and palm trees in tubs and clay pots are placed in the courtyard.

The conclusion suggests itself: you need to create an interior in the Mexican style with a cool head, clearly distributing the individual components of the color palette, otherwise, at best, the decor will be pretentious, at worst - tasteless and even vulgar imitation.

Room design options

The passionate Mexican style allows many liberties in the treatment of colors and materials.

If this is a house, then its rooms located nearby may have a contrasting color of the walls. For example, the bedroom is done in warm brown-beige tones, the living room is painted in a raspberry hue, and the kitchen is in orange tones combined with green and pink accents.

but the unique exotic design can also be used in urban environments - regardless of whether it is a large apartment or a small one. Even on a small footage, knowing the principles of such a design, you can recreate an incredibly attractive image of rooms using just a few bright accents and national ornaments inherent in Mexican style.

In the interior of rooms for various purposes, of course, furniture plays a significant role, which should be of high quality, durable, preferably made of natural wood. Color and texture - any, often interior items are decorated with ornaments in the national spirit. In addition, the style accepts all kinds of folding and wicker furniture, leather accessories with bright unusual upholstery.

    Let's see what kind of design is traditional for this direction.

    Bathroom

    Features of the design of bathrooms - sinks and bathtubs with ornaments, unusual forms of mirrors, the presence of living plants, a combination of yellow and blue shades in the decoration of the floor and walls... But sink countertops and shelves are usually made of wood.

    Kitchen

    Wooden headsets and kitchen cabinets, an apron in the form of a ceramic tile panel, a patterned floor and earthenware are the main trends in the creation of Mexican cuisine. We add that cutlery, pots, vases, plates are always placed on open shelves and racks, and household appliances are built-in and hidden behind furniture fronts.

    Lighting - built-in lamps and pendant lamps, dining table and chairs - wooden.

    Living room

    For the hall and living room, good-quality furniture with leather (natural or artificial) upholstery is suitable, an abundance of pillows of different colors and sizes is characteristic, it is better - handmade. Walls can be decorated with paintings, shelves with souvenirs, musical instruments, mirror surfaces, floors with mosaics and carpets. An important point is the absence of empty spaces.

    Bedroom

    The color scheme of the bedroom must be chosen with care, the walls are recommended to be painted in calmer tones: ocher, yellowish, beige, neutral blue, lilac or pink. It is easy to compensate for the mutedness of these shades using pillows of various colors, as well as table lamps and wall lamps with shades and lampshades made of colored glass.

    Interior examples

    The interior design in the style of burning Mexico suggests unique combinations, in fact, unacceptable in other directions.

    • A beautiful version of the kitchen in a country house with a national stove, wood and leather furniture, a combination of brown and green colors.
    • Bedroom in pastel, beige and blue colors. The bed has a wrought-iron headboard, patterned pillows and bedspreads that accentuate the Mexican style.
    • A Mexican-style bathtub is always original, with wooden furniture, in this case painted.
    • A modern Mexican living room is pink plaster, multi-colored upholstery, striped rugs, decor in the form of ceramic lamps, panels and vases.

    This style direction is completely devoid of conventions, which is why design requires a scrupulous approach, because any inaccuracy is fraught with distortion of a full-fledged Mexican image.
