Today, most Russians who want to update the interior in a modern way are faced with the problem of choosing a style. It is easier to transform a new building where you can walk around thanks to the area and interesting layout. For the same reasons, the situation with changing the interior in the Khrushchev is more complicated. A few square meters (even in 3 rooms) and the standard arrangement of rooms do not allow you to show your self.

If you still really want to change the apartment purchased on the secondary market beyond recognition, we recommend that you get acquainted with the loft style.

Style features

The style under consideration is characterized by simplicity, minimalism and bright colors, which visually makes the room larger, where, with the right approach, you can compactly place everything you need. Thanks to the skillfully used loft style, for example, the interior of a two-room apartment in Khrushchev can be changed beyond recognition and adapted for a family of 4-5 people.

The fact is that the mentioned style assumes an open space, without the presence of doors, which visually increases the area. If possible, the existing partitions are eliminated, and the resulting space is divided into zones: a recreation area, a meal, etc. In other words, the kitchen, bedroom, living room do not go anywhere - they just acquire some kind of openness. One zone from another is separated by shelves, sofas, less often screens.

On the one hand, such a layout is considered modern and original, but on the other hand, due to the lack of doors, it can become a reason why family members will interfere with each other.

But if you have a young family or a family where there is no need to isolate from each other, then decorating an apartment in this way will only be an advantage, since does not imply special costs for decoration and furniture.

Finishing options

For finishing they use mainly white, bright red, orange, and black-brown tonesthat are necessarily connected (for example, the walls can be in black and white or white and red). It is important to visually increase the space that only 1 wall is darker (for example, red), and the rest should be white.

If we talk about loft-style wall decoration, then one of them can be left in its original form (if the house is brick) or slightly ennobled with varnish-and-paint materials.

If the house is not made of brick, and the thickness of the walls does not allow removing the plaster, then for decoration, a brick or stone layout is often used. It is not allowed to use wallpaper or plastic panels during wall decoration, since they are far from the natural environment. These can be plastered walls or walls covered with wallpaper for painting (the same requirement for the design of the ceiling).

As for gender, then preference is given to parquet, wood-look laminate or floor tiles... The latter option will be quite cold, so it is allowed to use small plain rugs that resemble natural fur near beds or sofas.

Furniture

As for furniture, when making repairs in a loft-style apartment, you should not worry about the high costs for it. Because the simpler the better. Vintage options will be in trend. If the family has a craftsman with a minimum of imagination and skillful hands, then the best option would be the restoration of old Soviet furniture (chairs, dressers), which is enough to refresh it with varnish.

Speaking about the times of the USSR, it is worth noting that you will have to part with your grandmother's carpets and rugs for sure, since they significantly clutter up the space. Besides various shelves, especially necessary in a one-room apartment, can be made independently by altering various boxes.

Well, if there is no old furniture or there is no desire to be engaged in restoration, then they will do quite well, unlike furniture made of carved massifs, modern inexpensive options, with which furniture production is replete today. When doing furnishings, avoid bulky wardrobes, corner sofas with impressive armrests and solid walls. In order to have a place to put things, it is advisable to purchase a wall, but it should be small, breakable into modules.

This also applies to hallways. There is no need to buy headsets or more. You can get by with a hanger and shoe rack. Preference is given to shelves, dressers and small sofas.

As for the kitchen, here the loft is manifested mainly in the little things: in lacquered wood-like shelves, in Provence-style jars and, of course, in lighting and textiles.

Lighting

Loft-style lighting means a lot, but these are stretch ceilings that are not so familiar to us with a large number of energy-saving light bulbs. Here it is necessary to recall Ilyich's light bulb, which everyone hastened to get rid of at the beginning of the 20th century.

So loft lighting is lighting presented centrally, in groups concentrated in the place you need.

This is, for example, a row of 2-3 low hanging bulbs above the dining table. If desired, the bulbs can be decorated with discreet shades, the choice of which is great in the Ikea store. It is allowed to use one large low-hanging plafond above the work table. Besides, it is permissible to place floor lamps on both sides of a sofa or bed.

Textiles and accessories

Loft does not rule out use of textileshowever, it is limited to decorative pillows or curtains, which are used as a partition or doors to a dressing room. As for the windows, they should be fully open or covered with roller blinds or blinds. It is not recommended to cover the surface of dining tables or coffee tables with a tablecloth (the use of oilcloth is especially undesirable) or napkins.

As for accessories, there should be as many of them as possible, and the more original they are, the better.... However, do not forget that accessories are not just some trinkets cluttering up the room. First of all, these are things that are necessary in everyday life, seeming at first glance as accessories. For example, a jar that plays the role of a box, or an ottoman resembling a chest. Since the loft does not imply the presence of a storage room in the apartment, the same bike, placed on the wall, can also play the role of an accessory.

Loft in interior design is a bold solution that allows creative people to rationally use every square meter. You will have to get rid of the superfluous, but the necessary will play in a new way.
