A practical solution for large families is a three-tiered bed. It is often purchased for children's rooms. And models for adults are perfect for summer cottages if a large number of relatives and guests regularly come there.

Features and Benefits

Compactness is the reason why multi-tiered beds are purchased. The presented model can simultaneously accommodate three people, while the furniture will fit in a narrow bedroom. Such beds are purchased by families with several children. The products are durable and resistant to wear, they serve for a long time. A variety of design solutions simplifies the selection of furniture for any interior.

In the collections of the brands, there are both beds with tiers located one above the other, and those that move forward.

The latter take up less space and are safe for small children. At the same time, the models provide the same level of comfort as regular beds. They are used not only in apartments, but also in kindergartens, boarding schools, budget mini-hotels and country houses.

Depending on the features of the location of the tiers and the purpose of the beds, they are divided into several types. Models for adults have large dimensions, it is permissible for them to use low partitions. These beds can be made without railings and with high steps. By the type of transformation, furniture is:

  • Non-folding type. The most common model. The tiers are located one above the other, the third floor is located under the very ceiling.
  • Roll-out. A good solution for small children, since the beds are not high from the floor, and the child will not be able to injure himself or fall. The upper part remains stationary, while the lower tiers slide out like a nesting doll. If unnecessary, berths can be left in the retracted state.
  • Retractable corner. The elements of the bed are located at an angle to each other, which saves space.
  • Three-bedroom transformer. The bed is created according to the "3 in 1" type. In the assembled state, it has only one berth; if necessary, it can be decomposed into 3 parts.
  • Combined type. The model combines elements of roll-out and fixed beds. Two tiers are located motionless, in addition, a third berth is extended from below, where it is convenient to lay the smallest family members.

Beds with a bedside table or with a table are distinguished by a high level of practicality. By combining different pieces of furniture, it is possible to free up more space in the room. In addition, the solution looks original and allows you to play with the interiors.

The elements made in the same style make the design of the room integral and harmonious.

Materials (edit)

For the manufacture of three-tiered beds, wood is used. The most common wood species is pine. It is durable, wear-resistant, resistant to temperature extremes and moisture. Also, parts can be made of plywood, chipboard or MDF. Beds, which are based on a metal frame, are easy to install and are resistant to corrosion and external shock.

How to choose?

Before buying furniture, a number of criteria are taken into account. They take into account who exactly will sleep on the beds, where they will stand and how much free space is available in the room.For small children, it is better not to take a model with floors located on top of each other, as the child may fall. In this case, it is better to give preference to pull-out tiers.

What are the requirements for beds:

  • The frame and bottom of the model must be as strong as possible.
  • Fences should be located along the edges so that the child does not fall from the second or third floor. The handrails should be 15-20 cm above the mattress.
  • The degree of comfort depends on the choice of mattress. Orthopedic models have a beneficial effect on the spine, and a good filler will not bend under weight.
  • There should be enough space between the ceiling and the mattress so that the person can sit on the bed without bumping their head.

When buying, it is recommended to study the technical data sheet of the model, familiarize yourself with the materials used.

In addition, the store is obliged to provide quality certificates from the manufacturing factory.

How to place?

The layout of the room requires special attention. There are no strict requirements as to where the bed should stand, however, the most practical solution would be a place against the wall. If there is a window nearby, it should be borne in mind that the light will wake up the sleeping people in the morning. Placing in the far corner of the room will be a winning solution when it has a small area. Otherwise, the bed will take up most of the aisle.

When the model is installed in a large room, a corner arrangement is a good option. They put closets next to them, attach shelves, it is possible to install them above the sleeping places - this way it will be possible to save free space even more.

Manufacturers

When buying furniture, consider where it was made. The highest quality is distinguished by European beds, which occupy a leading position in the international markets. Such products meet international quality standards, are made from the best materials and serve for a long time.

Chinese models occupy a large market share. They are cheap, however, and have a much shorter lifespan. For the manufacture of beds, they mainly take low-quality raw materials. Often, Asian factories are engaged in the creation of counterfeits for European products. It also happens that Western companies have their factories in China; in this case, production is carried out using original technologies.

How to do it yourself?

When equipping a room, you can purchase a ready-made three-tiered bed. Those who wish to receive furniture with an original design can make it themselves. This will not only allow you to control the production process from start to finish, but also help save money.

Materials purchased separately will cost less, in addition, so the owner of the apartment will be able to verify the quality of the raw materials used.

To make a bed, you will need a standard set of equipment: a drill, a building level, a circular saw, a grinder, putty, primer, boards and bars. At the measurement stage, you will need a pencil, tape measure or ruler, a building level, and screws, screws, dowels and metal corners are used as fasteners. It is recommended to cover the parts with special anti-fungal impregnations, varnish or paint - this way the finished product will last longer.

Before starting work, you need to cut:

  • sidewalls - 6;
  • ends - 2;
  • support strips - 9;
  • bases for sleeping places - 3;
  • vertical supports - 2;
  • supports for the headboard and sidewalls of the tiers - 8;
  • steps - 2;
  • lintel between the headboard supports for the middle floor - 1.

All elements are sanded and coated with protective compounds. At the joints, holes with a diameter of 3 mm are cut in advance. After they go directly to the manufacture of a three-tiered bed:

  • The supporting strips are attached to the lower slats of the frame at a distance of 44 mm. For fasteners, take the corners.
  • The railing is fastened with screws.
  • The frame is placed as close to the wall as possible, after which the headboard supports of the upper tier and the sidewalls of the middle tier are attached to it.
  • The second floor is being mounted, supports are attached to it.
  • The railing is installed and connected to the outer sidewall.
  • The side parts of the third tier are fastened with dowels to the wall.
  • The frame of the last floor is installed, after which the sidewall and headboard are also mounted on the wall. The outer side part is connected to the railing.
  • Fix the steps with screws.

After assembling the wooden frame, the final finishing stage begins. Irregularities and cracks are putty, the surface is sanded. To keep it perfectly flat, it is recommended to apply a primer. The frame should be painted in two layers; if desired, patterns or illustrations can be drawn on the sides.

When the bed is ready, mattresses are installed, bedspreads and pillows are selected to match the decoration of the room.

Interior ideas

Models for children's rooms are distinguished by their variegated and original design. For babies, beds with images of cartoon characters and patterns that have unusual colors are suitable. For girls, you can choose a princess corner, made in light pastel colors. Pictures with locks, animals, flowers are used as decor, while pictures can be present both on the frame and on bed linen.

In order for the child to like the bed as much as possible, soft toys are placed on it. They will become part of the interior, in addition, children will be able to sleep with them. Additionally, matched pillows and bedspreads are selected. Extra clothes and seasonal items can be stowed away in the laundry drawers, which also saves space. The finishing point of the interior will be a soft carpet with large fibers and a frameless ottoman next to the bed.

Beds combined with wardrobes and shelves are a high level of practicality. Such models are installed in the corner of the room. In this case, the tiers are pushed out from under each other, and the shelves can be located in the lowest of the beds. Models in the design of which several variegated tones are combined, for example, blue and salad, will look original. It is important to take into account that the number of primary colors should not exceed two, and it is better to choose neutral ones as additional ones.

The three-tiered bed, made of dark wood, is characterized by simplicity and minimalism. Combined with gray or blue bedspreads, it gives the room concept and austerity. The model will look with solid sandy walls and wood flooring. Alternatively, the lower tier is double, and drawers can be located in the wall.
