Not so long ago, a fashionable novelty appeared on the furniture market - a floating bed. This model is a sleeping bed of different sizes, which hangs at a certain distance from the floor. This design looks very interesting and original.

Features, pros and cons

Modern furniture factories produce products of various modifications. Many of them can be used to revive the interior of the bedroom.

Stylish floating beds will organically look in the rooms, made in a modern style. Outwardly, these models look like a comfortable sleeping place, attached to the wall and located above the floor. It seems as if the bed only holds onto the wall surface. In fact, floating beds have special supports that are perfectly hidden and do not catch the eye. As a rule, such a support is located in the central part and becomes invisible thanks to a correctly installed backlight.

Beautiful flying beds fit into many ensembles. Such furniture will delight and admiration of your guests. By placing original furniture in the room, you can transform the interior and make it more modern or futuristic. It all depends on the personal preferences and desires of the owners.

"Floating" beds are installed close to the wall surface. Thanks to this fastening, the sleeping bed will not lose its comfortable characteristics over time, will not loosen and will not begin to creak. Fun fact: The floating effect bed completely changes the atmosphere in the room. Furniture of this unusual design creates a fresher, cleaner and more open environment. That is why these types of beds can be placed in both light and dark interiors.

Don't think that the flying effect bed is only for adults. Similar interior items can be put in a children's bedroom. But for such rooms, it is recommended to buy models that are not too high in order to avoid possible childhood injuries. Also, for younger users, it is better to buy beds with side bolsters.

However, like all pieces of furniture, "floating in the air" options have their drawbacks. They are static and cannot be rearranged from one place to another. These beds are wall-mounted once and for all.

A flying bed is not suitable for a small bedroom. The designs of such furniture are large and do not have additional storage systems. Even ordinary beds with legs may have linen drawers or niches, using which you can refuse dressers and wardrobes in the room. Nothing can be placed or installed under the "floating" bed. If you place any boxes or boxes under it, then its visual appeal will be lost.

It is quite difficult to install such products. It is recommended to trust such work to professionals.

Models

Flying furniture comes in different shapes:

  • The most popular are traditional rectangular options. Also, a fashionable round bed will look spectacular in the interior of the bedroom.
  • Sleeping furniture of rectangular shape most often it is attached to the wall with backs or two sides at once (if it has an angular structure). Behind the headboard in such instances there is an angle that ideally joins the wall.
  • Legs in floating beds are reliably hidden. Today, such furniture is presented in options with one support in the center. Rays depart from it in different directions. Thanks to the correct design, the load is optimally distributed along the beams, which makes the sleeping place reliable and designed for heavy loads.
  • Supports are sliding. Their height can be adjusted to your liking.
  • There are beds in which several legs are installed at once (3-4)... As a rule, they are located closer to the central part and are not visible at all. Models of beds in which such hidden details are made of tempered glass are especially popular today.
  • It is interesting in the interior of the bedroom that options look in which the lateral lumen is semicircular. The bases of such models seem to be raised, but the sleeping place itself remains level.

Materials (edit)

The lion's share of modern furniture factories produces "floating" beds from natural solid wood or laminated chipboard and MDF boards. Of course, options with timber frames and bases are more expensive. But here it is worth noting that the external finish of MDF does not always indicate the cheapness or low quality of furniture.

For example, some models are made on the basis of a solid metal frame. Consumers leave only good reviews about such structures, because they are highly durable and can withstand up to 500 kg. At the same time, outside such beds are decorated with MDF plates, which have different colors and patterns.

The decoration of the "floating" products is also varied. Such furniture is not cheap, therefore it is finished with expensive materials. Models with upholstery made of eco-leather, natural leather or various high-density furniture fabrics are in great demand.

Often times, wooden beds are not supplemented with upholstery. The mattress is simply laid on them and made out with a blanket. Often, the side sections of such models are equipped with bumpers.

Dimensions (edit)

Today in the store you can find a floating effect bed of any size. The most common are standard options with a length and width of 160x200 cm, 180x200 cm and 200x200 cm. More spacious are the "royal" models, their dimensions are 200x220 cm.

Such beds should be bought only from trusted and high-quality manufacturers, so as not to run into a weak and unreliable design.

Many furniture salons make custom-made floating beds. Such a bed will cost a lot, but it will be perfect for your bedroom.
