Large format air conditioners are quite powerful. However, more modest in size devices can also prove to be on the good side. Arctic Air products are a prime example of such technology.

Device

Mini-air conditioners Arctic Air and Rovus have proven themselves very well due to the peculiarities of the internal structure. The main component of the apparatus is an air filter-evaporator. The exclusion from the system of compressors, all kinds of pipelines not only simplifies and reduces the cost of the design, but also reduces the risk of breakdown, but it is not always practiced. The case of the miniature air conditioner contains 2 air passages.

Through the first passage, air masses are taken from the room so that they can be cooled. In the second, of course, air is drawn in for the purpose of warming up. Sometimes a flexible hose is provided to allow overheated air masses to be discharged onto the street. Usually this sleeve is directed to the window.

The body of the miniature air conditioner is equipped with movable louvers that allow you to adjust the air flow.

It should be borne in mind that models without an air duct cannot be considered air temperature regulators. The addition of an air duct has almost no effect on the total cost of the structure. If anything, the additive is not essential enough to be considered a major nuisance. When the air is saturated with moisture, this is not enough to lower the temperature sufficiently. And raising it as needed without an air duct is completely impossible.

Principle of operation

Portable personal the air cooler works like this:

  • air enters through the intake holes;
  • when crossing the compressor, according to the mode, the jet will be heated or cooled;
  • then it is sent to the filter, which retains some of the dust particles and other large impurities;
  • through another hole, air is discharged outside;
  • the overheated part of the air is removed as far as possible from the receiver.

Early portable mobile coolers were equipped with reservoirs to help collect condensate. But in more modern versions, this was abandoned - it warms up to a rather high temperature and goes outside after evaporation... As for the filter, it can be of different design. Modern filtering systems are able, along with fine air purification, even to additionally adjust its humidity as needed. There is a special mode in some models, in which the jet goes directly through the filter without changing its temperature.

Of course, in the 21st century, manufacturers of climatic technology cannot just refuse to use automation in their products... Thanks to it, it becomes possible to set the desired thermal regime, focusing on a certain threshold for warming up the air in the room. As soon as the threshold value is reached, the miniature air conditioner will automatically switch to the desired mode.

Sometimes night mode is a useful option. It is slower than usual, but it eliminates unnecessary noise.

Advantages and disadvantages

The main advantage of any mini-air conditioner is precisely that it belongs to the "mini" category. By purchasing such equipment, you can save space and provide the desired microclimate, even in a confined space.Mobile equipment, by the way, can be easily moved to the desired location. For the price, a mini-air conditioner is noticeably more profitable than a full-size device. He eliminates the need for special installation.

It is not difficult to transport a modest climatic device - it will fit in a motorcycle sidecar or bicycle trunk, not to mention a car. The weaknesses of this technique are:

  • relatively low power (they are not efficient enough over a large area);
  • quite loud noise during operation (since a fan is also added to the design);
  • the need to manually remove condensate (but this is not typical for all models).

Models and their characteristics

It is worth starting a review of possible options with a mini-air conditioner Arctic Air 4 in 1. Its standard technical characteristics allow you to use the device in floor and table modes, and even in a car. A pleasant microclimate will be created everywhere. And thanks to its small size and weight, you can easily take or store the device with you. The main operating principle is a combination of humidification and air purification, which is achieved by evaporation of moisture.

The manufacturer claims that this mini air conditioner looks attractive and its multi-colored lighting can be adjusted. The device can additionally function as a night light. On a full filling with water, it will work up to 7-8 hours. The fan is practically silent, and you can also choose three different speeds.

The official description mentions that the necessary pleasant microclimate is created next to the user as quickly as possible.

There are 3 backlight modes:

  • single color;
  • periodic change of tones;
  • no backlighting at all.

The Cooler model is currently out of production. but there is in the assortment its more perfect version - "Arctic Plus" (Ultra)... This product features a number of advanced technologies and allows you to quickly cool the room. It maintains a comfortable temperature without any problems. It is stated that the required microclimate is achieved in a matter of minutes.

Another characteristic feature of the product is that it works without any additional settings and time-consuming installation. All that is required from the user is just to add water and plug the device into an outlet. The liquid is discharged in the form of a mist, which greatly improves the result. Thanks to the capacious (0.61 l) water reservoir, the Arktika Plus mini-air conditioner can work up to 12 hours.

An interesting feature is the adjustment of the direction of the cooled air stream. For this purpose, a grille located on the front plane is used. The sponge filter can be washed and reused. Therefore, savings on consumables are also achieved. The brand description mentions that "Arctic" helps to improve sleep and health.

The lighting is optimized for the bedroom and guest area. The lighting is soft and delicate, does not irritate or invigorate the nervous system. Switching backlight modes occurs in 1-2 seconds. "Arctic Plus" does not contain freon, but this is not required for normal cooling and air purification. Therefore, the device is completely safe for humans, pets and the environment.

When creating a sponge filter and a seat for it, the designers tried to ensure maximum ease of replacement. The device can be turned off automatically if the appropriate setting is selected. Mini-air conditioner "Arktika plus" is designed for a current of 5 V and a power of 1.5 amperes. The fan makes 2750 revolutions per minute. The linear dimensions of the cooler are 0.17x0.155x0.16 m.

User manual

The cooler (air conditioner) "Arktika plus" must be above the floor, always on a flat surface. Only under this condition will the air be cooled efficiently enough. After pouring water into the working container, you need to wait about 3 minutes.The filter must still be saturated with water and reach the required humidity. If there is not enough liquid, this will be warned by the characteristic blinking of the indicator.

Connect the device directly to an outlet. The supplier and manufacturer are not responsible if the mini air conditioner is switched on via an adapter, any adapter or extension cord. You can judge the speed of the fan and the intensity of the emitted air flow by the readings of the indicator lights. They are located near the start button. The official instructions also write that the filter needs to be replaced about once every 6 months.

The work of Arctic Air is organized somewhat differently. This mini air conditioner is powered by a micro-USB cable. It can be connected to any power supply with an appropriate output. Unlike a cable, a special electrical adapter will have to be purchased additionally. Given this circumstance, we can say that the "arctic" cooler is optimized for humidifying the air around a personal computer or laptop. For Arctic Air to operate as efficiently as possible, only chilled water needs to be poured into the 0.375 L reservoir.

It is strictly forbidden to use mini-air conditioners in the bathroom. It's too humid there to guarantee safety. Do not expose the device to excessive heat or direct sunlight. It is desirable that the distance to any object is not less than 0.5 m. Full-fledged operation is possible only when the device is installed in an upright vertical position.

The manufacturer declines all responsibility for the consequences of moving the cooler with water. First you need to drain all the liquid, and only then move the device to another place. You can fill in only clean, and ideally distilled water. Application with an empty water tank, with the exception of drying, is not permissible. It is advisable to use the mini air conditioner in a clean room, as excessive ingress of dirt and dust particles can shorten the service life.

Storage of air conditioners "Arktika" with a reservoir filled with water is not allowed. It is forbidden to use non-original adapters and USB cables. It is not permissible to touch the device, power supply or wires with bare hands. It is also strictly prohibited:

  • place the mini-air conditioner near a heater, boiler, other heating equipment or the back of the refrigerator;
  • put any objects on top;
  • block the outlet and inlet openings;
  • turn the device over;
  • immerse it in water and other liquids;
  • place it near open fire, flammable objects;
  • allow children under 8 years of age to be accommodated;
  • operate the mini-air conditioner if the insulation of the wires is broken.

Review of customer reviews

According to real users, the operation of the cooler in Arctic Air does not give rise to any complaints. Everything is arranged very simply and logically, therefore the probability of breakdown is reduced to almost zero. But there are also negative assessments. So, the plastic case could be assembled a little better. Some people speak badly about unstable controls. The charging port is located in a very large recess, and it constantly moves.

And here holding the float that controls the level of the water chamber with a small piece of polystyrene works quite reliably... Complaints are sometimes made about the interior lighting. In real life, it may look worse than in promotional materials and not meet the expectations of consumers. It is recommended to buy devices of an earlier year of manufacture, because later ones are of poor quality, but with the expectation of repeating the original success.

The design of the mini-air conditioner itself does not cause any negative emotions. Everything is very concise and simple. The combination of a white cabinet with a black control panel and a back panel successfully fits into the style of various rooms.Ventilation and the device of the water tank, their work fully corresponds to the declared characteristics.

It should be noted right away that you shouldn't expect too much from a mini-air conditioner (that's why it is a "mini"). But compared to a fan, the air is cooled more - the difference of 4 or 5 degrees is obvious at a distance of 0.4 m.

Therefore, we can say that Arctic Air will help out those who need to cool and slightly humidify the air directly at the workplace... The disadvantages mentioned above do not interfere with coping with the main task. The undoubted positive properties of the mini-air conditioner, which are noticed by all consumers, can be considered its lightness and excellent transportability. In this case, the current consumption will be less than 8 W per hour.

It is separately noted that:

  • mini-air conditioners Arctic Air and Arctic Plus cope even with unbearable heat;
  • sleep really improves thanks to these devices;
  • the characteristic feeling of dry air is excluded;
  • hypothermia, which occurs when more powerful air conditioners are operating, is prevented;
  • air cooling starts immediately after turning on the device;
  • the devices work long enough and stably.

Advice

As already mentioned, the adapter has to be purchased additionally, and it is better if it is immediately a branded device from the manufacturer. The filter needs to be replaced not only at the standard time (every 6 months), but also when the efficiency of the air conditioning decreases. In this case, they are guided exclusively by their feelings. If the air is very dusty, the filter may lose its power even after 2-3 months of operation. The device is designed for a certain area of the room, and it is not recommended to exceed this figure.

If you need to cool the air in a large room, it is better to consider a more efficient air conditioner. After operation of the device, the filter must be dried. The water is simply drained and the fan is turned on for another 30 minutes so that mold does not appear. You can use the device in the bedroom, in the guest area, in the office and even in the country.
