Angle grinder (angle grinder) or, in simple terms, "grinder", is a universal construction tool that is used both in professional activities and in everyday life. With this "beast" you can cut and grind a wide variety of materials (brick, concrete, stone, ceramic tiles).

Hilti grinders have long won the love of Russians, thanks to their excellent quality and democratic cost.

A bit of history

The now well-known company was founded by brothers Eugen and Martin by the name of Hilty. She began her work back in 1941 in the small town of Shan (Liechtenstein). Initially, only a small workshop appeared, which was engaged in the production of tools for construction.

Significant profits have come to the company since the manufacture of the hand-held rock drill in the late 1960s. Further, Hilti expanded its range, and a large number of construction tools appeared on the market, which were distinguished by excellent quality and affordable prices. The company appeared in Russia only in the mid-90s. Today, Hilty is a large group of businesses that are located in most countries of the world.

Characteristics of cordless angle grinders

The assortment of the Hilti company includes a huge selection of construction tools, including cordless angle grinders ("grinders"). Note that it is not always convenient to "depend" on the network for most of the repair work. Therefore, the use of "grinders" on the battery speeds up the workflow several times. And also the use of this type of angle grinder is quite safe.

The features of Hilty's cordless angle grinders include the following advantages:

  • comfortable ergonomic design;
  • safe application (disc adjustment, emergency shutdown and disc brake);
  • sufficient battery capacity;
  • high efficiency;
  • brushless motor, which is "responsible" for the durability of the service life;
  • special abrasive discs that are designed specifically for cordless tools;
  • compact weight;
  • no key is required to replace a work item;
  • availability of automatic telephone exchange, which prevents uncontrolled rotation of the angle grinder body in the event of a "jam" of the disk.

The range of their application is wide enough:

  • cutting and grinding metals, steel and mineral materials;
  • finishing works and dismantling;
  • polishing and deburring.

With all the availability of Hilti products, some models of cordless angle grinders have a rather high price. Perhaps this is the only drawback of the tools of this company.

How to choose a disc for wireless grinders and other models?

When choosing any angle grinder, the size of the disc (or circle) is an important indicator. This is the working element of the "grinder", which is in contact with this or that material. The cutting depth directly depends on the radius of the blade. By standard standards, the diameter of the angle grinder is 115–230 mm. Thus, the maximum cutting depth for a 115 mm blade will be at least 25 mm, for a 230 mm wheel - up to 70 mm.

Note that the circles of the angle grinder grind off over time, and as the working element wears out, the cutting length decreases.

When choosing a disc, decide on the specific purposes for which the "grinder" will be purchased. LBM (115, 125 mm) have small dimensions of the working element and will perfectly show themselves "in business" in domestic conditions (grinding, cutting).Heavier grinders (150-230 mm) will perfectly show themselves in professional construction activities (cutting hard materials and even bricks).
