Clamps are products designed for reliable pipe connection. They are used in the construction industry, when installing and dismantling pipelines, repairing highways and in other areas. They are indispensable for solving everyday and professional tasks. Among the workers, the stainless steel clamp is more popular. Such fasteners have a number of significant advantages and are available in various standard sizes.

Features and purpose

Metal clamps are most often made of stainless steel. In production, 3 types of it are used:

  • ferromagnetic stainless steel or W2;
  • W5 (non-ferromagnetic);
  • W4 (hard to magnetize).

Steel products are manufactured according to the standards regulated by GOST 24137-80.

A stainless steel clamp is a fastener that provides a strong and reliable connection of water supply pipes and sewage systems. It reduces the risk of corrosion on metal products, eliminates leaks at the joints.

The main advantages of stainless steel clamps:

  • resistance to adverse external influences (high humidity, temperature drops, exposure to acid and alkaline compounds);
  • strength and durability;
  • maintaining the accuracy of crimping in aggressive environments;
  • multifunctionality;
  • wide scope of application;
  • possibility of reuse after long-term operation;
  • extensive lineup.

Stainless steel does not rust, does not oxidize and does not come into contact with other types of metals.

The disadvantages of fasteners made of this material include its high cost.

The stainless steel repair clamp is used in the following situations:

  • when sealing leaks caused by through corrosion;
  • when repairing cracks in pipelines;
  • when fistulas occur in the pipes;
  • to seal the chimney;
  • as the basic fastener of the pipeline to the wall surface.

Stainless steel connecting clamps are universal. They are used for both metal pipes and PVC piping systems.

Species overview

Manufacturers offer an extensive selection of stainless steel clamps with various design features. Popular models of such fasteners.

  1. Worm. Its design includes a screw and tape. Promotes even load distribution. Differs in the reliability of the connection.
  2. Wire. Designed for fastening thick-walled hoses and pipes. Recommended for use in high vibration and high pressure environments.
  3. Coupling. Used to secure thin-walled tubes and hoses. Convenient for installation in hard-to-reach places.
  4. Leg clamps. This is a fastener designed for fastening pipes with a large diameter. Its design includes a rod, a ring and self-locking nuts.
  5. Crimp screw clamps used for the repair of sewer and pipeline systems.
  6. Unilateral. It is made in the form of a U-shaped tape with perforations in the upper part (it is provided for threaded mounting). This fastener is recommended for small diameter pipes. And also manufacturers produce double-sided models (2 half rings connected by threaded pairs with screws) and multi-piece products consisting of 3 or more working segments.
  7. With a flag latch. These products are recommended for fastening pipes to walls or other surfaces. Due to the use of flag clamps, the pipeline will not sag under its own weight, due to which the risks of deformations and leaks will be reduced.

Stainless steel clamps with or without a holder can be equipped with a rubber seal. This is a special gasket located along the inner diameter of the product. The rubber seal helps to reduce vibration, dampen noise and increase the tightness of the connection.

The price of clamps with gaskets will be higher than without them.

Options

Stainless steel clamps can be of various shapes (round or square), designs, with different widths and lengths of the tape. To select the optimal fastener, you need to know its standard dimensions.

Each type of connection has its own dimensional grid. For example, for a worm clamp, the minimum value of the inner diameter is 8 mm, the maximum is 76, for the screw clamp - 18 and 85 mm, and for the spring clamp - 13 and 80 mm, respectively. The largest dimensions are clamps with a spiral type of connection. The sizes of their minimum and maximum diameter range from 38 to 500 mm.
