The arrangement of a private house is a job for the imagination of the owners. When it comes to terraces, the question arises when it comes to decorating a spectacular exit. Sliding aluminum doors are perfect for such purposes.

Peculiarities

Doors are divided into interior and exterior doors; models for a veranda in a private house deserve special attention. Such products have their own characteristics. The veranda is a place that connects the natural landscape with the interior of the house. Traditionally, these doors were made of wood and glazed for a better view of nature. Naturally, in the winter time, such a structure was poorly insulated from the cold, and in the summer heat, the shutters were thrown open for better ventilation, but the gusts of the wind slammed the shutters, it happened, and the inserted glass broke.

Modern manufacturers have been able to avoid all these disadvantages.by creating doors from practical materials such as glass embedded in an aluminum or PVC profile frame.

These structures are distinguished by high reliability in operation, ease of installation, good insulation from dust, rain, wind, have convenient locks, as well as an aesthetic appearance and open up an excellent view.

These qualities make the use of glass doors in aluminum or PVC profiles indispensable for a private house. Aluminum profile, in addition to strength, has a lighter structure weight and longer service life than PVC profile. However, the choice of material for doors in a cottage depends on the purpose of use. If doors are installed in a room used only in the warm season, preference is given to a lightweight aluminum profile, but if these are terrace models, then the profile must be insulated and the appropriate design is selected.

Which door to choose for the exit to the terrace?

The door to the terrace should be transparent, the frame structure should not interfere with the view, the opening mechanism should be convenient and not take up much space when opening the doors, while isolating it from the external environment in case of bad weather. All these requirements are met by aluminum sliding doors. The designs of these products are elegant, they practically do not cross the plane of glass up to 2.5 meters in size, they allow to hold large enough door leaves weighing up to 400 kg due to the strength of the material. The sliding mechanism saves room space, holds the canvas firmly.

A terrace in a private house or cottage simultaneously has access to the courtyard and to the internal premises, as a rule, a family gathers here in hot weather or, sitting in a warm house, admiring the snow-covered garden through a glazed opening. Aluminum sliding doors meet these requirements in the best possible way: with the lightness of the structure itself, they reliably hold huge glasses weighing up to 400 kg. Aluminum sliding doors installed on the terrace will create an analogue of panoramic glazing, natural light can freely enter the room.

Next to such doors, you can place light-loving plants in tubs to decorate the interior, at the same time, these lightweight structures will reliably protect from bad weather and ensure the safety of households.

Such doors do not need constant maintenance, like wooden ones, they do not need to be covered with protective agents, they do not need to be painted regularly, and they do not need to be removed from the effects of temperature differences and atmospheric moisture. The service life of aluminum sliding structures is much more than 25 years. In addition to excellent performance, these doors look more interesting than conventional swing doors due to a departure from the traditional door sizes. The size of the canvas is selected based on the overall interior design. These doors can be made in size from floor to ceiling, and in width from one side wall to another, which looks very advantageous in the architectural composition and is convenient when creating a winter garden or greenhouse.

Such doors are equipped with a roller mechanism that moves along two guides, which firmly holds the door leaf, unlike conventional door hinges, which sag over time under the weight of the door, the lower edge of the door starts to touch the floor covering and the hinges need to be replaced.

The price of sliding doors depends on many components: type of glass unit - ordinary glass, vandal-proof, energy-saving, what locking mechanisms are required, how the door will be opened - manually or from the control panel.

If this is a country house, then it is not necessary to order an insulated profile, a lightweight one will be enough, which will also affect the price of the product.

Models

The designs of sliding doors are varied, it all depends on the model of the selected door. Let us consider in more detail the existing models of doors made of aluminum profiles.

One of the most popular models - sliding doors of the "coupe" type... They function due to the movement of the rollers along the guides - top and bottom. If necessary, the lower guide is buried in the floor, then when the door is opened, the separation of one room from another becomes imperceptible. Sometimes only the top rail is used, but for entrance doors this is not applicable and is not always functional. Indeed, with one guide, the strength of the structure decreases, and it is difficult to isolate the lower edge from blowing. Sliding doors of this model withstand the greatest load and allow the installation of canvases measuring 2.5x2.4 m, which is indispensable for panoramic glazing.

For sliding doors, you need a place where the door leaf will move: this is a blank part of the glazing or a part of the wall. It happens that there is no such space, then the front door can be performed in accordion models... Here, the canvases also move along the guides from above and below, but the canvas does not move away, but folds along the profile of the frame, the width of the flaps in this case should not exceed 0.4-0.9 meters, and the height - 2.4 meters.

Sliding parts of the door leaf can be combined with blind glazed parts and used to create greenhouse-type glazing.

Outdoor panoramic doors must meet safety requirements, therefore they are equipped with locking mechanisms and glass units made of impact-resistant glass. The entrance door may not have a rectangular, but a rounded shape, then the guides and the profile of the door leaf will be radially curved, and otherwise, the mechanism of use is similar to rectilinear structures.

Often installed on terraces French doorThis is a floor-to-ceiling window that can be opened as needed to provide fresh air. In such windows-doors, a tilt-sliding mechanism is installed. The sash has not only a retractable mechanism, but also a folding upper part of the canvas for ventilation. Such models are made of smaller glazing to maintain the reliability of the retaining folding mechanisms (width up to 2 meters, height up to 2.4 m). If the room has a large height, then blank glazing is mounted in the remaining part under the ceiling.

Finally, an important factor when choosing a door model is the conditions for its use.If this door is designed to protect against precipitation and wind in the summer, then it is enough to install a lightweight aluminum profile, but the temperature in the room with such doors will be almost the same as outside. If this is the door of the entrance zone in a residential building, then a warm profile is chosen, inside it there are cellular bridges of heat-insulating material. The profile can have felt pads, which will work as dust insulation and as additional insulation.

It is always best to choose models with a double roller mechanism and two guide rails. This design ensures the smoothness and straightness of the door leaf movement, protects it from warping and jamming.

Doors of European manufacturers are distinguished by high-quality performance and aesthetic design. Reynaers and Schuco.

Materials (edit)

Sliding doors are made of various materials to meet the different needs of consumers: performance, cost, exterior design.

Plastic profiles in sliding doors are quite reliable, but they can withstand a small weight of structures, they are used in suburban construction due to the availability of prices. PVC profiles have great rigidity, are good for winter use, retain their operational properties for a long time, however, high temperatures can weaken the material, temperature drops cause the formation of microcracks. Exposure to chemicals has a damaging effect on plastic.

Aluminum profiles are universal, having their own low weight, they can hold large double-glazed windows, do not lend themselves to temperatures, atmospheric moisture is not terrible for them, they do not lend themselves to deformation, their service life is practically unlimited.

The above-mentioned profiles are usually equipped with double-glazed windows with insulating gaskets, in a lightweight version it can be glass.

Wooden frames with glass are environmentally friendly, but they can deform under the influence of moisture, the places where the glass adjoins to the tree is not always firmly sealed, since wood is a living breathing material, which can cause cracks, these doors are laborious to maintain, but their appearance compensates these disadvantages.

In the southern regions or indoors, glass frameless structures are used. The roller mechanism is attached directly to the glass, otherwise the mechanism works in the same way as in frame structures - movement along the guides. Glass for such doors is made using a special technology, it must have a large margin of safety. Frameless sliding structures blur the boundaries with the external environment, but do not protect well from dust and cold.

Color solutions

All types of profiles can be presented in any color that meets the requirements of the home design. You can choose the color of the door frame to match the walls, or you can use a contrasting combination. For example: white and wenge. Manufacturers suggest using two different finishes on the inside and outside of the door. Inside it can be white, and outside it is beige or to match the wood. Color profiles are operated in the same mode as white ones. Paints practically do not lend themselves to external atmospheric factors and do not fade.

Now we offer a wide range of profile finishes for different types of wood, which is used in the main decoration of the cottage. Lamination of a wood-like profile is very technologically advanced and creates a surface that looks almost indistinguishable from natural wood, but it does not require such careful maintenance as wooden frames.

The profile can be finished with other textures - natural stone or brickwork, if required by the design of the entrance group.

Beautiful examples in the interior

Accordion-type glass structures in an aluminum frame, decorated with wood imitation, embody eco-style.100% unity with nature is achieved thanks to a large view of the surroundings and imitation of natural materials. The way to open these doors is very stylish and elegant.

The winter greenhouse is simply obliged to open and close with the help of aluminum structures with glass. Only thanks to these materials, it is possible to let in as much sunlight as possible, which is so lacking in winter.

The terrace or access to the pool from a high-tech or minimalist house is simply a must to equip sliding doors made of aluminum.
