The hob is especially popular for its ergonomic and stylish design. It is easy to operate and fits harmoniously into any interior design. But in order for the purchased equipment to fit the general style of the kitchen as beautifully as possible, you need to decide in advance on the dimensions.

It is also important to consider all other technical characteristics of the surface.

Main characteristics

When choosing a hob, first of all, it is necessary to take into account the dimensions of the kitchen itself. The thickness of the worktop must correspond to the dimensions of the slab. Correctly selected dimensions of hobs will allow not only to harmoniously fit the stove into the interior, but also ensure safety during operation. The distance from the edge of the stove to the sink should be approximately 60 centimeters. If it is larger, then during cooking you will have to spend time moving. Well, if less, there is a risk of getting burned, which is dangerous to health.

Modern kitchens use surfaces that are installed right next to the wall. It must be remembered that the distance between the stove and the wall should not be less than 30 centimeters, even if the tabletop is firmly against the wall. The installation of the stove is usually carried out after the installation of the sink. Another characteristic to look out for is the thickness of the countertop.

Height

The height of the product usually reaches 40 mm, sometimes it reaches half a centimeter. This parameter is directly related to the thickness of the product. In rare cases, the height of built-in appliances can be up to a centimeter, this is due to the characteristics of the product. When mounted from below, a shelf is installed, which plays the role of a jumper, but the panel itself is deepened half a meter down.

Width

As for the width, it all depends on the number of heating zones or burners. For example, a narrow surface usually does not exceed 40 cm in width, and has two heating zones or the same number of burners. The dimensions of the product with one burner are the same.

Wider equipment has dimensions up to 70 cm, and sometimes even more. Such models are found in large-sized kitchens, they have more than four burners. Most often, a 45 cm stove has three burners. These are standard metrics that will work well for any average kitchen.

Depth

This parameter is always related to the depth of the worktop itself, but here it is just as important to consider the number of burners. Most often, the depth is up to one and a half meters, sometimes up to 60 cm, if it is a three-burner stove.

If the burners are arranged in a straight line and in the same width, then the depth can be no more than 40 cm.

Number of burners

In order not to be mistaken with the choice, it is important to take into account the number of people who live in the house. For example, if the family is 5-6 people, then it is better to buy a hob with at least four burners. But if we are talking about the residence of a smaller number of people, then you can choose a technique with two burners, it usually has standard dimensions. In order to save money, people who live on their own can choose surfaces with one burner.

If you choose a hob by size, you must remember that they are divided into three types:

  • small-sized;
  • models with an average surface width;
  • equipment of large dimensions.

In the first case, we are talking about a technique that has dimensions within 30 centimeters. Moreover, a surface with two burners has such dimensions.If a gas stove is chosen, then it is better to purchase a model in which the presence of a continuous grate covering both burners is provided. For medium-sized electric cookers, the width ranges from 50 to 75 cm. The standard dimensions are 450 mm. It is in this version that surfaces are found that have three burners arranged in a triangle, one of which heats up faster than the others. There is also a four-burner stove, which has the same dimensions. Usually, a stove with four burners does not exceed 60 cm in width.

Large-sized equipment reaches 75-80 cm in width. There are, of course, larger models, for example, Smeg products, its length can be 90 cm or even 116. In the latter case, we are talking about a surface on which all six burners are lined up. But thanks to this, it has less depth.

The form

If you choose the right panel shape, you can get a number of benefits. Namely:

  • save space in the room by correctly placing all interior items;
  • install the stove at a safe distance from the sink;
  • choose a panel that will harmoniously fit into the overall interior.

The presence of various shapes of the hob allows you to meet the needs of any customer.

Semicircle

This plate is produced exclusively in oval shape. In appearance, it is very similar to a cloud or an elongated drop, only its lower part is almost always even.

Elongated drop

This technique is very similar to the previous one. Their only difference is the lower part. This is a versatile option that can be installed both in the corner and in the middle of the table top. This technique does not take up much space and can be used in any interior.

Classic corner

A classic built-in cabinet equipped with a hob is usually located at a corner. Thus, more free space is freed up, which allows convenient placement of kitchen appliances. In this case, the control panel is located directly on the wings of the structure. Despite the fact that such a device is not very large, six burners are freely placed on it, each of which has a separate power.

Inverted square

Such a panel is very easy to mount in a cabinet installed at an angle, which has dimensions of 90x90 cm. The diagonal of the panel is only 85 cm. But the only drawback of such equipment is that it is not mass-produced, it must be made to order.

Perfect circle

Another exclusive option is the perfect circle. In this case, the hob will consist of three cooking zones. They are controlled by means of rotary controls, which are located at the front. If we are talking about the gas version of the stove, then there is a grate for all three burners. Well, the electric one is controlled using touch buttons.

How to choose?

The choice of built-in appliances in the kitchen depends on a number of parameters. You need to consider:

  • dimensions;
  • shape;
  • number of burners;
  • the place where the surface will be installed.

Many modern manufacturers purchase custom-made models. This purchase option is relevant if we are talking about a non-standard kitchen layout or about the presence of special requirements for the operation of equipment.

Of course, standard designs are also found on the mass market, which have typical sizes and shapes. The modern standard allows you to integrate appliances into any countertop, and it will be in harmony with the overall interior.

If the furniture is made to order, you must first calculate the dimensions of the purchased equipment. Let's say the most common option is 50x50. Larger slabs have dimensions of 60x60. To correctly determine the dimensions of the purchase, you must first calculate the distance to the sink. It is also important to consider all the other characteristics of the kitchen.If you know the basic rules, then it is very easy to independently measure the main items of kitchen life and determine in advance what to buy.

But not only the dimensional data are important, additional parameters will have to be taken into account, for example, the heater, the features of the dishes. There are several types of structures that are powered by electricity. Let's consider them in more detail.

  • A construction that is carefully insulated. In this case, you will have to use dishes of a certain diameter.
  • Double extension option. On such a stove, you can cook in dishes of any diameter, usually the panel consists of two circles, which have symmetrical dimensions.
  • Panel with three different sizes. Cookware of a special size is installed on it.
  • If an oval or rectangular surface is chosen, then the dishes also need to be selected in non-standard sizes and shapes.
  • A modular panel can also be used. This is the so-called domino design. It is made in the form of four rectangles, each of which performs its own function. One is used as a deep fryer, the second is a brazier, the rest have the function of a double boiler, and even teppanyaki (a style of cooking in a large iron pan in close proximity to others).

When choosing a design, it is necessary to pay attention not only to the functionality of kitchen appliances, but also to its appearance. It should be in harmony with the overall interior of the room. Be sure to consider the color of the panel, because everyone has different tastes. For example, someone likes it when it matches the color of the countertop, while someone, on the contrary, loves contrasting shades.

In the classic version, it is customary to use white enamel panels. They go well with natural wood furniture and a white kitchen set. But if you want something modern, it is better to choose glass ceramics. This technique goes well with high-tech furniture. Among the new products, you can choose products made of tempered glass, which in appearance and functionality are very similar to models made of glass ceramics. Only now the cost of such equipment is much lower.

Almost all modern models have original shapes and excellent functional characteristics. They have compact dimensions, the body is made of durable steel that does not lend itself to corrosion. There are also budget models made of durable plastic that does not react to high temperatures.
