The power of the induction hob is the very moment that you should find out before buying an electrical appliance. Most of the full-length models of this technique put forward quite serious requirements for network connectivity. But in terms of their indicators - the speed of cooking, the level of energy saving - they surpass all other options.

A distinctive feature of induction heating is its high efficiency - up to 90%. When in contact with the panel, the bottom and bottom of the cookware are mainly heated, and the heat transfer is directed directly to the food.

At the same time, there are no irrational heat losses, the risks of overheating the very surface of the glass-ceramic base.

Power range

The power of the induction hob is calculated in kilowatts (kW). This indicator is relevant for any electrical appliances. Modern manufacturers produce induction equipment in the following power categories:

  • up to 3.5 kW, adapted for installation in typical houses and apartments;
  • up to 7 kW, designed for connection to a dedicated 380 volt network;
  • up to 10 kW - they are installed mainly in large country houses, they have the highest energy consumption.

When buying induction equipment, be sure to check the wired elements in your home. A weak cable can melt from heating; insufficiently reliable connections will lead to an increased fire hazard. If necessary, replace the wiring for the equipment with a suitable one, focusing on the power.

What determines energy consumption

Electricity consumption of induction hobs primarily depends on the number of burners and their total performance. The unequal size of the heating elements and their different configurations are needed in order to ensure the convenience of using kitchen equipment in various heating modes. Energy consumption of an induction hob implies both alternate and simultaneous use of its individual elements. The most economical solution is considered to be the use of original double burners - they determine the required size of the heating field and activate it for operation.

Heating elements of the smallest diameter have a power of no more than 1 kW and are used for simmering, that is, for slow cooking. Medium-sized burners consume from 1.5 to 2.5 kW, they are used to create side dishes, soups, meat. The largest and most powerful burners of 3 kW are needed to heat large pots to a temperature of 500 degrees Celsius.

What characteristics are important?

At the forefront when choosing electric stoves, you need to put the question of the required number of burners for a family. Do not chase a large number of burners. For an average family of up to five people, it is usually sufficient to have a stove with one double burner and two separate ones of different sizes and capacities. Individual heating of the circuit allows you to control the energy consumption. For a family of three, it will be enough to have a stove with only two burners of different power.

Before choosing a hob in terms of power, it is worth considering that options can increase the energy consumption of an electrical appliance. Built-in touch screen or remote temperature control, other functionality also consumes electrical current. The level of the brand also matters - the largest companies have their own ways to reduce their energy consumption. For example, using boosters or evenly distributing the power supply to all cooking zones.

The strength of the ceramics and the protection against electric shock also go a long way. In cheap Chinese "no-name" stoves, the service life of hobs is usually incomparable with the cost of purchasing them.

How much electricity is consumed per month

The calculation of energy consumption, which all owners of houses and apartments have to pay once a month, becomes much more complicated in the presence of an electric stove. It is almost impossible to calculate separately how much an induction hob will spend. But there are average norms that determine this indicator of 1.3 kW / h when all four burners are operating at a rated power of 3.5 kW. Daily use of cooking equipment in a total volume of at least 2 hours will require payment of 2.6 kW per day. About 78 kW will be spent per month.

But there is one more important point: these calculations can be called averaged. In fact, the calculation is carried out separately for each burner, since they are almost never made of the same size. Operating a burner with a rated power of 1 kW for 2 hours with full heat will consume 2 kW. But if regulation of the heating intensity is used, the final consumption will be less.

What influences the choice

You can choose the right built-in induction hob by considering not only power consumption, but also many other characteristics:

  • the number of heating points - there can be from one to four, it all depends on the size of the kitchen and the frequency of cooking;
  • the dimensions of the induction coils - they determine the diameter of the burners;
  • connection to the network - for an ordinary apartment, a low power device operating from a 220 volt household outlet will be enough, and for a house it is better to install a 380 volt line;
  • type of construction - dependent or independent, the first of which is mounted only complete with an oven;
  • the presence of an edging that prevents cracking or destruction of fragile glass.

Considering all these factors, it will not be difficult to choose the optimal kitchen equipment in terms of power. Induction hobs have rather high energy consumption requirements. Large burners consume at least 2 kW / h. Accordingly, for an apartment or a private house with a maximum network load limit of 5 kW, you need to select equipment that does not exceed these power limits.

How to achieve energy savings

With modern induction cookers, electricity consumption can indeed be significantly reduced. Since the real energy consumption is calculated in kWh, the solution to the issues of savings can affect the amount of invoices. In particular, purchasing a stove with an automatic shut-off function when the cookware is lifted from the hotplate not only reduces the risk of a fire, but also significantly reduces the overall energy consumption.

Another way to save electricity is related to the heating rate. - it is almost three times higher than that of a classic electric stove with heating elements. Accordingly, the duration of the equipment operation and electricity costs are also significantly reduced. But here, too, it is important to remember that the result always depends on compliance with all operating rules.

Adjusting the heating intensity is another important savings factor.Energy saving is achieved by adjusting the intensity - normally the range from 6 to 8 units is used, but when using the lid, similar results can be achieved even at position "3". Accordingly, electricity consumption can be reduced by almost half.

Even if you only have a 220-volt network in your home, you can pick up an induction cooker that will help you achieve a significant reduction in bill payment costs. At the initial stage, modern kitchen appliances may seem like a rather expensive purchase, they will require a change of dishes.

But in the long term, such equipment is an excellent solution for use in a house or apartment as an alternative to classic electric stoves.
