A bathroom is a room that differs from all other rooms in the house with a special climate, namely, high temperature and humidity levels. That is why, when making repairs and choosing building materials for finishing both the floor and walls, you need to take these features into account. Today there is a wide selection on the market of building and finishing materials. One of the innovations today is quartz-vinyl, as well as finishing materials from it. In this article we will tell you everything about this type of material and determine how it can be used in the interior of the bathroom.

Can I use it in the bathroom?

Renovating and improving a bathroom is not an easy task. The most difficult thing is to choose the right materials, the technical characteristics of which would meet the requirements. The best option is to lay quartz vinyl tiles.

She was just made for this. This material consists of five layers:

  • 1st layer - PVC;
  • 2nd - reinforcement;
  • 3rd - vinyl and quartz;
  • 4th — decorative pattern;
  • 5th layer - protective, polyurethane.

The material has a number of features and advantages. It is characterized by:

  • safety and environmental friendliness of all components;
  • long service life (with proper installation and maintenance, the tiles will last up to 30 years);
  • fire safety;
  • excellent sound insulation and thermal insulation properties;
  • 100% waterproof.

It is also worth noting that quartz-vinyl is resistant to mechanical and chemical influences, bacteria and mold. If the tiles, which can be used to cover walls and floors, are cleaned in a timely manner, they will not rot throughout their entire service life.

The only drawback, according to consumers, is the high cost of the material, but if we take into account all the advantages, we can conclude that it is quite justified.

Design

Today, quartz-vinyl tiles for walls and floors in the bathroom are presented in a wide and varied assortment. The tiles may differ:

  • size;
  • composition (some models may lack stabilizers and plasticizers);
  • design.

The main selection criterion is appearance. It is at him that a potential consumer looks before buying. Most often, the manufacturer makes tiles that imitate wood or stone. The color scheme can be very different, monochromatic or combine several shades. You need to choose the one that perfectly matches the interior of the bathroom.

As for manufacturers, the most popular today are companies such as FineFloor, Tarkett, Art Tile, Decoria, Deart Floor. The products of each of the above manufacturers have proven themselves in the best possible way.

How to put?

Today there are two ways of laying quartz-vinyl tiles, each of which depends on the type of material chosen. It is possible to install the material both on the floor and on the walls by the following methods:

  • castle;
  • on the adhesive composition.

The locking method of laying tiles is identical to the installation of classic laminate panels, when one board is connected to another with a snap. Installation using a lock connection is carried out directly on the screed. The seams must be treated with a special compound so that they do not let water through in the future.

If quartz vinyl is laid on chipboard, plywood or OSB, it is better to resort to the second installation method - on glue.

Such styling is more reliable and durable. When choosing an adhesive composition, it is imperative to take into account its physical and technical parameters: it must be moisture resistant and not harm the base. If you have problems with this, then you can take the one recommended by the tile manufacturer.

Before proceeding with the installation, you need to perform a number of preparatory work:

  • clean the base;
  • measure the moisture content of the screed in the room using a special device - a moisture meter;
  • carry out waterproofing work;
  • prime the surface, when choosing a soil composition, it is better to take one that is characterized by deep penetration;
  • apply a leveling compound, the main task of which is to level the surface.

Experts recommend keeping the material in the room where the installation will be carried out for about a day before laying. This is necessary in order for the tile to acclimatize. Also, during installation, you need to monitor the air temperature in the room: it should not exceed 15-20 ° C. The humidity indicator should be in the range from 40 to 60%.

Care rules

The key to a long service life of quartz-vinyl tiles and a beautiful appearance of the surface from it, both in the bathroom and in any other, is correct and timely care.

There are certain rules:

  • you can remove small dirt from the tile with a vacuum cleaner or a scrubber, provided that a steam machine is used, you need to monitor the temperature of the steam, it should not be high;
  • it is necessary to wipe the tiles daily;
  • it is categorically not recommended to use abrasive detergents during wet cleaning, only special detergents and cleaning agents are allowed;
  • if you need to remove the stain from quartz-vinyl tiles, use only special alcohol compounds, but not acetone.

Periodically, at least once a year, experts recommend professional cleaning. To do this, you can use the services of cleaning companies that use professional cleaning agents in cleaning, level the surface relief and apply protective compounds on it in the form of mastic.
