Criteria for choosing MDF screens for a bath

In order to choose the right bathroom accessories, you need to approach this choice responsibly. Today there are a huge number of different bathroom accessories. It is difficult to choose the most suitable option among such a large selection, but many practical owners opt for panels made of MDF.

Criteria for choosing MDF screens for a bath - what you need to know

To decorate a bathtub, it is necessary to use an MDF screen, and there are many reasons for this.

Such a screen is one or more panels, fixed on a special frame, which can be made of aluminum or wood. MDF screens have their own advantages, as they are made of moisture-resistant boards. The panel is installed under the bathroom, where moisture can accumulate, so manufacturers try to laminate it well.

A MDF screen is a suitable option for decorating a bathroom, because any pattern can be applied to the panel, which will be combined with the overall interior.

The use of MDF screens makes it possible to make the bathroom richer and more voluminous.

When choosing such a screen, you should pay attention to the following points:

  • the product is perfect for standard or rectangular baths;
  • such screens are made of environmentally friendly material, as they are obtained by pressing sawdust, and lamination is a prerequisite for moisture protection.

Additionally, you can install a screen under the bathtub with a mirror surface (if the bathroom is small). But before choosing just such an MDF panel, it should be borne in mind that it is fragile and impractical.

There are many advantages of MDF screens:

  • in a small bathroom, the panel will look expensive and can visually increase the area of the room;
  • caring for MDF panels is much easier than for products made from other materials;
  • it is possible to choose a screen size that fits the dimensions of the bathroom;
  • you can choose different types of panels, which will make them even more comfortable to use.

When choosing an MDF panel, you need to consider these points:

  • before purchasing a panel, you should carefully take measurements in the bathroom;
  • if the room has a small area, then it is recommended to stop your choice on solid models;
  • the choice can be stopped on models with doors, which will allow you to put household chemicals and other household items under the bath.

As a rule, MDF panels are already completely ready-made and you can install them in the bathroom yourself without outside help.

Varieties of MDF screens

MDF screens can be of different types, each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages, which are worth dwelling on in detail.

  • Solid, which are a one-piece panel that is attached to an aluminum or wooden frame. Such panels are considered the most common and are distinguished by their ease of use. Facing such a screen can be done using mosaics or tiles. The main advantage of the solid MDF screen is its durability, it can be easily washed and cleaned. There are, of course, some drawbacks. It will not work to store household chemicals under the bathroom, and if you need to get communications, then serious problems may arise.
  • The second type is swing. In this case, the MDF screen consists of several movable elements that are attached perpendicularly to the main frame made of aluminum or wood.Thanks to several uprights with hinges, front doors are attached to them, which open outward. Depending on the wishes of the owner himself, the doors can be from two to four. Such screens are considered to be the most durable and convenient to use. This is a great option for a small room.
  • The third type is a sliding screen or sliding structure. It is not much inferior in its functionality to swing panels. Thanks to this design, there is a chance to win more space under the bathroom, for example, to organize special shelves for storing household chemicals or various items that are needed in the household. Most often, it is the aluminum profile that is used to mount such panels. It will be able to last much longer than a tree.

The front part can consist of three parts. The central part, as a rule, is narrow, and the two side panels are much wider and move apart like a wardrobe.

The main advantage is that MDF screens are produced by such a well-known manufacturer as Alavann. Legs can be attached to the frame, but adjusting the panels will not be at all difficult. The coupe screen can be installed in just ten minutes.

  • Combined type it can include both a standard and a compartment, or it can combine two swing doors with one sliding door. This design can also be very ergonomic.

Any of the proposed options can fit under the bath - it all depends on the preferences and wishes of the owner.

Dimensions of MDF screens and their installation

For models of MDF screens, there is a special size ruler, so most often they have standard sizes. The length of the panel can be 150, 160, 170 cm, but sometimes other sizes are found, for example, you can find screens with a length of 140 and 180 cm.As for the height, according to the standards, it is either 54 cm or 62 cm.

Panels of 170 cm are most in demand, therefore the range of such screens is the largest. Panels of different lengths can be made to order (the minimum size can be up to 105 cm, and the maximum - 190 cm). Panels of this size are difficult to install, so you have to turn to specialists for help.

The ease of installation of panels is also considered important, therefore, choosing MDF screens, it is worth noting that they are the easiest to install.

Let's consider how you can install MDF panels yourself.

  • Having decided what exactly the MDF panel is required, it is necessary to make measurements of the bathroom and buy the material.
  • The finished MDF panels are already impregnated with an antiseptic and a laminated film is applied to them, which greatly simplifies the task.
  • It is necessary to build a frame and install it. For this, it is best to take aluminum posts and profiles.
  • The screen is attached to one common structure - the frame.
  • A special frame is mounted. It is necessary to attach the first profile to the wall (it will be enough to use ordinary dowels).
  • When assembling the frame, it is worth considering the ventilation hole so that you can get to the communications.
  • After that, all panels are fixed to the frame.
  • Inside the screen, you can install additional shelves for placing chemicals and other household items on them.
  • In addition, facing work can be carried out.

Much depends on which bathtub the panel is attached to. On an acrylic bathtub, it can be mounted on the sides. But with a cast-iron bathtub, this will not work, you can ruin the enamel.

You should also pay attention to the design of the screen: the more complicated it is, the more laborious the installation process will be. To install the sliding doors, you will first need to mount the profile from the bottom and from the top. The panels should be installed in such a way that one overlaps the other. In some cases, it will be necessary to give the screen additional rigidity: for this, the space between the upper frame and the rim of the bath itself is filled with foam.

Instead of aluminum, wood can be used for mounting the frame.

If everything is done correctly, then the finished MDF screen can be installed within half an hour. Such a design can be distinguished by its efficiency and reliability, because MDF panels are inexpensively available for any person.

Due to the different design of the structure, each owner will be able to choose the option that will be ideal for the interior of his bathroom.
