A beautiful and comfortable bathroom is every person's dream. More and more ordinary stationary toilets are disappearing into the background, and suspended toilets are increasingly becoming widespread, where all the piping and cistern are in a neat box - this is compact, beautiful and modern!

What it is?

The installation is a metal frame with fasteners. Through it, the connection to the hanging toilet or bidet of sewer pipes and water is carried out. The frame is attached to the main wall, closed with a decorative partition and decorated with decor.

The Swiss manufacturer Geberit is one of the leaders in the sanitary ware market in Europe. The company has its own principles, for which users love it: the production of products that ensure economical water consumption, new progressive solutions to urgent problems and the energy efficiency of installations.

The installations are most commonly used for wall-mounted toilets and bidets, but Geberit offers some really interesting solutions for in-wall washbasins, shower installations, urinals and bathtubs.

It is convenient to purchase a ready-made kit right away: an installation and a toilet bowl that fit together perfectly.

Differences from the toilet

They are as follows:

  • The first main parameter that distinguishes a wall-hung or floor-standing toilet with installation from a conventional toilet with a cistern is dimensions. Often, a stationary toilet cannot be placed as close to the wall as the installation is installed - saving even 10 cm of space for a bathroom can be a decisive factor in favor of a built-in system.
  • Installation cistern reliability. Large installation manufacturers give a 10-year warranty for the drain system. The fact that the entire water supply system of the installation will be closed in a box may cause concern among buyers (they are afraid of the consequences of a leak). In fact, the built-in system is equipped in a special way, and it does not even require the installation of special inspection hatches. All important parts of the installation are accessible through the hole for attaching the button to the wall.
  • Drain system. It has been proven that with less water consumption, the flush system of the installation is more efficient than that of a conventional toilet. This is due to the design features of the tank and the drain system.
  • Condensate. Owners of classic toilet bowls have probably faced the problem of condensation protruding on the cistern more than once. The tank of the installation is made in a special way: its back part is embedded in a special material - styrene, which prevents condensation from appearing.
  • Water supply connection. To connect to the water supply of a conventional toilet bowl, for convenience, flexible liners are often used. For installation, this method is unacceptable - for it they use a rigid plastic or metal-plastic liner, which significantly increases reliability. In addition, for convenience, the installation tank has several holes for connecting the water supply.
  • Permissible loads... There is a myth that a wall-mounted toilet cannot withstand heavy loads compared to a stationary one. So, on average, the working load for a wall-hung toilet is 200 kg, the maximum is 400 kg.

Of course, when buying an installation with a toilet, you should pay attention to this parameter, since inexpensive fakes can differ in a maximum load of up to 100 kg, and good specific models can withstand up to 800 kg.

Advantages and disadvantages

Like all other systems, toilets with installation have both positive and negative sides. Let's take a closer look at them.

Pros:

  • compact design - a wall-hung toilet bowl with installation is perfect for limited space in the bathroom;
  • the sewerage and water supply system is hidden in the wall, which is aesthetically pleasing and practical;
  • noise insulation - during draining, the water makes a much quieter noise than in classic models;
  • ease of cleaning under the structure - no need to bend the leg;
  • reliable drainage system.

Minuses:

  • more complex installation process - for proper installation, it is better to use professional plumbing services, which, accordingly, will entail additional installation costs;
  • the cost of structures is higher than for classic toilet bowls;
  • replacement of the installation - always means a full-fledged repair in the bathroom, since you will have to dismantle the entire box and structure;
  • the complexity of the repair - to fix the installation, you need a special tool or a professional call, which will cost a significant amount, so it is better not to save on the purchase and choose a trusted company with many years of experience in the manufacture of installations and a guarantee of 10 years or more.

It can be concluded that a wall-hung toilet bowl with installation is convenient, beautiful, hygienic, but at the same time more expensive.

Device

The structure consists of metal frames attached to the wall and floor (depending on the type of installation, it can be attached only to the floor or only to the wall), evenly distributing the load. The frame is equipped with threaded sockets for fastening. And also the installation package includes accessories for fasteners. Depending on the type of installation, it can be equipped with height-adjustable feet.

A drain tank is attached to the frame. It also contains a tap to shut off water in an emergency, fittings that control the water supply (connected to the drain button). The inlet valve is located on the side. At a distance of 1 m from the finished floor, there is a drain button, the toilet bowl (studs) are fastened at a height of 45 cm (adjustable in some versions), the outlet into the sewer is 25 cm from the floor, a pipe for supplying water from the drain tank is located just above.

In the event of a breakdown, you can always find original spare parts for repair work on sale.

Views

There are two main types of installations by type of design: block and frame.

Block units do not have legs, are attached to the main wall with anchor bolts, as a result of which the entire load falls on the anchors and the wall. They are cheap enough.

Frame installations have more subspecies.

  • For mounting on a solid wall... They have 4 fasteners: 2 - for the wall, 2 - for the floor.
  • For fixing to the floor. The ability to install anywhere in space. They have different sizes in height and width.
  • Corner installations. They have a corner cistern, which saves space. Ordinary rectangular installations are also suitable for corner placement, for which corner brackets can be used.

Concealed cisterns

Geberit's history in the installation market began in the 1960s. Then they were the first to release a flush-mounted cistern for a side-mounted toilet. Such designs are still quite widespread today, being an example of classic plumbing equipment. They have an adjustable volume of flushed water, which can be adjusted for convenience. A particularly representative model of the concealed cistern is the Sigma, which has received the quality mark for its water efficiency. Its design allows you to limit the amount of water consumed for flushing to 4.5 liters.

Geberit manufactures three collections of tanks (in other words, flush systems): Sigma, Omega, Delta. They are suitable for floor-standing and wall-hung toilets. Sigma and Omega support the innovative remote flush system.

Delta is used for private homes and public spaces. Depth - 12 cm. A small flush volume is not adjustable, the factory setting is from 3 to 4 liters, a large one can be adjusted to 3 parameters: 4.5 liters, 6 liters or 7.5 liters. The tank is completely sealed against condensation. Possibility of water supply from behind or from above, in the middle of the tank. Suitable for combination with single flush, dual flush buttons and flush-stop system.

Models from the Omega collection differ in heights: 82, 98 and 112 cm (due to different mounting heights). Their depth is the same and is 12 cm. It has the same flush volume settings as Delta: the possibility of front or top installation of the flush button (for heights of 82 and 98 cm), anti-condensation cover, the ability to supply water from the left side, bottom or rear of the tank. Highlighted by a cover for the service window - it protects against dust and dirt.

The installation and repair of the tank does not require the use of any tools. The model is suitable for dual flush.

Sigma is available in two depths: regular (12 cm) and ultra-thin (8 cm). In the second version, a mesh is provided for lining the plastering cistern. The compact design has an adjustable flush elbow, water supply from above and from the side is provided with an offset to the left. The 12 cm structure has a water supply from the back or top in the middle. Just like the Omega, it is equipped with a protective cover for the maintenance window, it is possible to shorten the cover to position the flush plates flush with the wall.

Does not require tools during installation, and, like all cisterns from this manufacturer, has a standard adjustment for large flush volumes. Single, dual and flush-stop systems are available.

Toilet installation systems

Geberit toilet installation systems are represented by one basic series - Duofix. The Duofix frame system is equipped with one of three types of cisterns, depending on the customer's requirements.

  • Duofix systems with different installation heights. Completing the installation with an Omega flush cistern, you get options with a height of 82 cm, 98 cm and a standard 112 cm.
  • When the frame is equipped with Sigma tanks standard models with a height of 112 cm are formed.As mentioned above, the Sigma range has a cistern that is only 8 cm thick, which allowed Geberit to create an ultra-thin installation, raising the height by only 2 cm (in this design it is 114 cm). In the same collection, there is a reinforced model - for mounting the installation on a concrete floor without supporting it on the wall. In conditions of limited space in the bathroom, a mounting element is offered in a narrow version: its width is 41.5 cm versus the standard 50 cm.In this model range, you can also find a series created specifically for people with disabilities: they imply the installation of handrails and supports for disabled people ...
  • The simplest and most economical version of the Geberit installation system comes with flush cistern Delta. In this series, you can also find a free-standing structure with an attachment to the floor.

For convenience, 3-in-1 kits are often on sale: they consist directly of an installation mounting element, a flush button and a set of fasteners; in some models, such a set is equipped with a sound-insulating gasket.

Installations for sinks

A wall-hung washbasin in some life situations is a necessity and a huge space saving. It is for this purpose that Geberit installation kits are created - to hide the sewage and water supply in the wall. They, like toilet bowls, are standard in height (112 cm), low (82 - 98 cm), high (130 cm), adjustable (from 112 to 130 cm) and traverses (in fact, just a small frame for wall mounting).

As for water supply, washbasin installations are available for exposed faucets, for vertical faucets, with water taps and in-wall siphons.

Installations for bidets and urinals

Duofix installations for bidets are quite versatile and differ only in the height of the mounting elements (82, 98 and 112 cm).

All types of urinal mounting frames are adjustable in height (from 112 to 130 cm), differ in the urinal flush system and the location of the buttons.

Installations for showers and baths

In addition to the above, Geberit installations for shower systems and bathtubs can be found on sale. They provide wall drainage and integration of a wall mixer.

type of instalation

There are several options for installing installations.

  • On the main wall... Installation of the block system is possible only with fastening to the main wall.
  • On a plasterboard wall. Any universal installation with 4 fasteners (2 - to the wall, 2 - to the floor) can be installed on the plasterboard wall. In this case, the main load falls on the floor. And you can also strengthen the wall made of gypsum plasterboard with a square steel plumbing profile.
  • On a brick wall... Brick walls are distinguished by their strength and durability - any installations are suitable for installation on such a wall. In addition, a concealed cistern can be built into it without fear.
  • Floor-mounted. This method is used when it is impossible to mount the structure to the wall. For this fastening method, a special reinforced self-supporting frame is used. And also such frames have large support areas for optimal distribution of the load on the floor.

Drain keys

With a wide selection of different Geberit designs, you can match the water release button to your bathroom decor. What set of functions can a seemingly simple key have?

  • Non-contact flush. Better for public places, because hygiene comes first. In order not to touch the flush plate in a public place, it is now enough to wave your hand in front of a black glass panel, which shows two luminous stripes, respectively, meaning full and low flush. Geberit has the most advanced contactless model, the Sigma 80.
  • One of the latest developments for installation structures from Geberit is the DuoFresh air purification system. The system built into the box sucks in air after pressing the flush button, drives it through the filters and releases the purified air back.
  • The Sigma 01, 10, 20, 50 models have a container for deodorizing units.
  • Possibility to install the button flush with the tiles.
  • Many colors and textures. The ability to choose a key for your unique bathroom design is very important for customers. That is why Geberit produces different color shades of buttons such as bronze, brass, steel, white and black keys, matt and glossy textures.
  • Installing a protection box will provide double safety.

Mounting

When purchasing an installation, make sure that it comes with a detailed diagram and instructions for installing other components (for example, bolts and toilet studs of the required length).

Installation of the installation consists of 3 main stages:

  • preparation;
  • fastening;
  • connection of sewerage and water supply systems.

The preparatory stage includes studying the instructions, preparing the tools and choosing a place for installing the structure. Depending on the choice of the location for the installation, you need to think over the piping of the water supply and sewerage pipes.

For fastening, a small number of tools are required: a tape measure, a level, a pencil or marker, a hammer drill with drills, wrenches (many Geberit structures are assembled without keys, but it is still better to stock up on them just in case).

If the frame structure is being installed, then the first stage of installation will be the assembly of the frame itself.

Securely fasten all structural elements according to the diagram. If you are installing a flush-mounted tank, then this item is omitted.

Next, the location of the fixing bolts is marked. The distance between the bolts will depend on the dimensions of the selected installation; in the narrow version, the distance will be less. When trying on, it is important to use the level and take into account the decorative finish of the room.

The next step is drilling holes for fixing the installation, inserting dowels. We fasten the frame with the fasteners included in the kit. When installing, do not forget the basic parameters: a sewer pipe at a height of 0.25 m from the finished floor, the height of the toilet bowl is on average 0.4-0.5 m optimal.

After all these steps, the drain tank is installed. When fixing the cistern, it is worth starting from the height of the flush button: usually, for convenience, it is placed at a height of 1 m. The last to be installed are the toilet seat studs.

Then the water supply pipe is connected to the cistern. For different models, the water supply can be carried out in various parts of the tank. For safety, it is better to use rigid pipes rather than flexible liners, as it is convenient to do when installing classic toilets. It is safer and more practical, given that access to this system will be closed by the box.

The toilet is connected to the system last, only after all the finishing work has been completed. After gluing the tiles, at least 1.5 weeks must pass for the construction glue to dry well enough.

The toilet bowl can be connected to the sewage system by means of a tie-in (the most convenient option, but in practice it is often impracticable), using a plastic adapter (a rather durable method) or a corrugated pipe (short service life).
