There is a TV set in every apartment. He, like any other type of equipment, can break down for various reasons. If it is under warranty, then you should immediately contact the service center, but you can try to fix the post-warranty product yourself.

Causes of malfunctions

The TV belongs to the devices that are used quite often. The more time this type of equipment functions, the more often the probability of a breakdown. Malfunctions and can occur not only due to improper operation, but also after a thunderstorm or lightning strike. According to experts, the following are the most common causes of TV breakdowns.

  • Defective power supply unit... The control unit and the unit board may fail due to improper installation or mechanical damage.
  • Burnt out power supply unit. Since there are frequent power surges in the power supply network, an unprotected unit may burn out.
  • Broken amplifier intermediate and low frequency.
  • Hors de combat radio channel selector.
  • Burnt out color module, sync selector.
  • Faulty chromaticity module.
  • Need replacing the frame or line scan unit.
  • Broken Matrix TV. This part of the technology can be damaged due to external influences, for example, the fall of the TV or the ingress of liquid on it.

Less significant causes of TV equipment malfunctions include the following:

  • antenna, receiver - in this case, the unit is considered serviceable, the problem is hidden in additional devices;
  • cooling system;
  • video processor.

Description of faults

A TV set is a complex device, which includes a large number of units and subsystems, which may fail over time. This type of technique is characterized by the following problems: The infrared sensor, remote control, infrared port, power button, voice search and others do not work.

Problematic switching on and off

If after switching on there is no image on the TV, the indicator light does not light up on it, which indicates that it is connected to the network, the power supply may be broken. Most likely, it burned out due to a strong voltage drop in the mains. In some cases, the unit shuts down spontaneously. In the case of installing protection against voltage surges on it, it is able to turn off the TV if necessary.

In case of normal stable voltage, the user should check the power supply and the motherboard.

Lack of response to the remote control

It is a common problem that the TV does not respond to remote control commands. Usually it is associated with a malfunction of the remote control, which fell to the floor or was doused with liquid. In this case check the device at the time of serviceability of all its power elements.

If the reason is not hidden in the remote control, then the remote control receiver may be broken or the processor junk.

Memory problems of television equipment

In some cases, when tuning channels, the TV simply does not remember them. The problem could be in the broken memory of the unit... A similar situation can be observed when adjusting the sound. After the procedure, the TV turns off, the adjusted parameters of sound effects disappear.

The TV owner is advised to check the memory chip or replace it if necessary.

TV buttons do not work

If no reaction is observed when the buttons on the front of the TV are pressed, then it is worth checking for a broken contact, which should connect the key and the microcontroller.

In case of complete serviceability of the contacts, you can start checking the processor.

Sound playback problem

Poor TV sound effects are usually associated with poor speaker performance. In this case it is worth checking their inclusion, connection, as well as their integrity. Sometimes problems can be based on poor performance of the low frequency amplifier or sound processor.

Also, do not ignore the possibility of a problem with radio channels.

Poor or no image quality

Some TV owners may observe that when the TV is on, there is sound, but no picture. The main causes of problems:

  • no picture with excellent sound quality - malfunction of the matrix, video amplifier;
  • no picture, sound sometimes appears - problematic sweep;
  • there is sound, the screen is glowing, but there is no picture - broken video processor, interference in the tuner;
  • half-expanded image - faulty matrix scan, which has arisen in the event of a voltage surge or poor functionality of the power supply;
  • the appearance of a narrow vertical stripe on the TV screen - transformer malfunctions, in the event of a horizontal strip, we can talk about a broken frame scan;
  • one color of the image, the disappearance of any of the colors - broken video amplifier, video processor.

Faulty matrix elements

In the television technology of modern production, the breakdown of the matrix entails only its replacement. This is the basis of the screen on which the image is displayed. The main reasons for its failure are the following:

  • dropped or damaged by a hard object;
  • penetration of liquid or condensate onto matrix contacts;
  • manufacturing defects;
  • deterioration due to long-term use.

A damaged matrix is a guarantee of the appearance of multi-colored stripes, black circles, image fading, image disappearance.

Sweep problems

The fact that the operation of the scan is disrupted on the TV, such signs may indicate:

  • reduction of the image, its vertical displacement;
  • misalignment;
  • the appearance of lines in the picture;
  • lack of frame scan.

Diagnostics

It is much more difficult to diagnose frame scan, power supply, motherboard, inverter, pixels than to repair them. For this reason, detecting the problem and finding out its cause must be carried out efficiently. If the TV does not function at all, then the first step is to check the board, having previously cleaned it of dust and dirt... The procedure should be carried out using a vacuum cleaner or a soft brush.

After removing the back cover of the TV and removing all kinds of dirt, it is worth carefully examining each of its components. Often, problematic structural elements look swollen, burnt out, with a leaking capacitor, a darkened resistor, a burnt out microcircuit or transistor case.

In some cases, an external examination of the internals of the TV does not make it clear what the cause of the problem is, then you can start checking the power supply. To do this, turn off the chip, which goes to the line scan of the board, and instead of the board, you need to solder the load on the contacts of a conventional 220-volt incandescent lamp. If the power supply fails to start, then you should start checking it.

Also don't forget on checking each of the contacts for the presence of dry electrolyte capacitors... For this purpose, each element is soldered, its polarity is changed and checked using a conventional ohmmeter.

If there is a leakage of the capacitor, it is recommended to replace it.

How to fix it?

Quite often, TV owners start to panic at the slightest TV malfunction and call the wizard. However, it is advisable to learn how to repair TV with your own hands. You can repair equipment without the help of a master in the following cases.

  • Mode check... If the TV does not work, then it is worth determining if it is in standby mode by determining the glow of the red light on the TV panel. Do not leave the unit in standby mode for a long time, since all its power circuits are energized.

In order for the equipment not to burn out, it should be turned off by pressing a special button.

  • The remote control does not work. The reason for the malfunction of the remote control may be a fall, mechanical damage or dead batteries. To eliminate the problem, you can try to disassemble the device, eliminate obvious problems, or replace the batteries.
  • TV does not turn on. The problem may be hidden in the cord, power button, or power supply. The button and wire should be ringed with a tester, and if they are faulty, then repair or replace. If the problem is hidden in the power supply, then it should be disassembled, checked for swelling and parts replaced if necessary. In the process of replacing the transistor and microcircuit, it is worth installing gaskets.
  • The screen does not light up... The reason for this trouble may lie in damaged lamps, the lack of power supply to the backlight. To solve the problem, it is worth opening the case, removing the boards, drivers, disassembling the screen and replacing the burned out light bulbs.
  • No sound, wheezing... In this situation, it is worth looking for a breakdown in the sound path. To eliminate the problem, it is worth checking each of the audio amplifier microcircuits. If these elements are normal, then capacitors are to blame. If the power level is too low, it is worth changing the parts that are out of order. You also need to check the microcircuit and, if necessary, evaporate it.

According to experts, it is worth calling the TV repair technician in the case when the unit did not turn on from the panel, the indicator from green color changes to red, with the green indicator the equipment does not work, TV turns on for a long time. Owners of television equipment should remember that careful handling of the TV, as well as its use strictly according to the instructions, can reduce the likelihood of breakdowns.
