Stool styles: what are they and how to choose?

Stools are found in any home. But they cannot be acquired spontaneously. Their choice is approached deliberately, combining with the rest of the interior. To do this, it is worth considering the styles of the stool, finding out what they are, in order to choose the right and complement the interior with suitable products.

Stools are mainly used in the kitchen and dining room, but they can also be present in the living room, if, for example, a dining area is provided there, and on the terrace, and in other rooms. Anyway, stools will be made in the same style as the whole room... Otherwise, it will not be possible to achieve a harmonious design of the room.

Here are some of the styles that are used a lot.

• Provence. The room usually has a lot of natural light, simple yet elegant furnishings. Shades are chosen that are close to natural. White, beige, milky, brown shades will be ideal, yellow, green, blue are also suitable. All this also applies to stools. They can be made of wood or rattan, and light aerial metal structures are also acceptable. The seats can be regular or soft. In the second case, upholstery made of linen, cotton, matting is allowed, delicate tones, floral prints are possible.

• Shabby chic. Natural materials are relevant, but at the same time artificially aged. Well, if it is really antique, it will give a certain charm to the room. If it was not possible to purchase such furniture, then you can reproduce the characteristic features yourself. To do this, cover an ordinary stool with a darker paint, dry it, then apply a lighter tone. Then the stool should be rubbed with sandpaper so that the bottom layer of paint begins to show through here and there. And the finishing touch will be the varnish coating. It is not difficult to make a table in the same way in addition to stools.

• Japanese. Stools, like other Japanese-style furniture, should be made entirely from natural materials. These will be laconic, necessarily low stools. They can be upholstered in a single color material that matches the general style of the room. It can be leather or matting.

• Nautical. It is clear that in this light airy style blue, blue, white, turquoise colors will prevail, they will be successfully complemented by yellow and beige. Therefore, nautical-style stools can be of the same shades. Suitable as wooden or metal pieces of furniture with upholstered seats, and colored plastic.

• Industrial. Simplicity and deliberate rudeness prevail here. Untreated wood, old metal would be ideal for industrial style stools. Naturally, they should overlap with other elements of the room - ceiling beams, exposed pipes, concrete or brick walls.

When choosing stools, first of all, you need to adhere to the chosen style or those that may overlap to some extent. If, for example, Provence and shabby chic can be realized in the same room, then a loft and Japanese cannot be imagined together... These nuances must be taken into account.

It should also be remembered that indoors, they must be combined with other interior items... If, for example, upholstery on stools is provided in Provence, then it is good if the curtains are of the same colors or a small sofa that will be located nearby.
