Work gloves are used in many industrial enterprises and in various household jobs to protect hands from harmful chemical components and mechanical damage. Modern manufacturers offer a diverse range of types and purposes of work gloves. One of the groups of such protective equipment is doused gloves.

Main characteristics

The fabric base of the doused gloves is made of knitted cotton fabric. If you work in gloves made of pure cotton, they protect your hands from blows, absorb wet sweat products, retain the warmth of your palms, but during use they quickly become unusable from mechanical abrasion.

To increase the strength of the products, natural base materials are coated with polymers. These are latex, nitrile, polyvinyl chloride (PVC).

To protect against minor mechanical influences, a point application of polymers on the palm of the gloves is sufficient, and doused gloves should be used to work with aggressive liquids, oils, oil products. In such protective equipment, a continuous layer of polymer is applied to the cotton base of the gloves (the product is doused). When working, the hands inside the gloves come into contact with natural material, and the outside are protected by a dense impermeable polymer coating.

Let's name the main functionality of doused gloves:

  • provide mechanical protection against cuts, punctures, ruptures during construction and repair work, at mechanical assembly and metalworking enterprises;
  • protect from the harmful effects of industrial solutions of acids and alkalis of permissible concentrations and some not particularly aggressive chemical reagents;
  • irreplaceable in chemical-technological production and enterprises of oil and gas complexes;
  • used in meat processing workshops;
  • have antistatic properties;
  • have a long service life.

An essential indicator is the low cost of such means of protection, which is important in the conditions of modern realities.

What are they?

Doused gloves are available with both single and double douches. There are models with a full coating of the surface of the gloves with polymers, and there are options for pouring only the palm of the product. For work in low temperatures, gloves are made on an insulated cotton base with a high knitting density. The technical and operational characteristics and the degree of protective properties of specific products depend on the quality of the fabric base and the type of doused coating.

Latex

Latex gloves are lightweight, soft and elastic, do not hinder finger movements, which allows you to easily hold small parts and tools while working and perform work with high precision. The latex composition is safe for the skin of the hands, does not cause irritation and allergic reactions. The protective properties of latex products are lower than nitrile ones, but a double douche completely provides protection against acids and alkalis with a concentration of up to 20%. Resistant to crude oil products, alcohols, salts, but contact with inorganic solvents should be avoided. They are used in the chemical, electroplating, paint and varnish industries, in agricultural work, in the service sector and in medicine.

Nitrile

Nitrile products are quite tough, but wear-resistant, oil-resistant, waterproof. Provides a reliable dry and wet (oiled) grip of tools and smooth products with a sliding surface, have anti-static properties.

High mechanical strength allows them to be used in oil development, gas fields, complex construction projects, when working with abrasive materials.

Resistant to organic solvents, alcohols, gas condensate, high temperatures (up to +130? C).

PVC

Polyvinyl chloride gloves are comfortable for hands, durable, have a high degree of protection against chemicals of permissible concentrations, oils, oil, organic solvents. You should be aware that PVC is not resistant to acetone. The PVC coating is frost-resistant and has an antistatic effect. Durable cotton yarn and PVC coating ensure high wear resistance and long service life.

How to choose?

When choosing doused gloves, one must first of all pay attention to the composition of the materials of manufacture. Polymer douche coat should be made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), nitrile, latex. The coating material on gloves is selected in direct proportion to the planned use of products in accordance with their technical and operational characteristics: what degree of protection is required, from what influences (mechanical, chemical), under what temperature conditions.

    The fabric base must be 100% cotton. The mixture composition, even if it contains a small percentage of synthetics, is not suitable for the base of doused gloves. The palms in such gloves will constantly sweat and overheat, which will certainly lead to a decrease in labor efficiency, and even to the appearance of allergic symptoms. Correctly selected doused gloves will ensure high productivity and safe work of employees in accordance with the requirements of labor protection services at enterprises.
