Nowadays, many people are installing modern split systems in their homes and apartments. For proper operation of such equipment, it is necessary to regularly clean it. From this article you can find out which detergents should be used for this.

When should you clean?

Complete disinfection and cleaning of such a device should be carried out twice a year: in the spring before frequent use and in the fall. There are several main signs that the device is heavily soiled.

For example, split systems, when contaminated, begin to create unpleasant odors around them. Also, during their operation, you can hear a characteristic buzz. Water may start dripping from the inner compartment.

All preparations for cleaning and disinfecting air conditioners can be divided into several groups:

  • means for cleaning and disinfecting the indoor module and protecting the heat exchanger;
  • cleaners for the external block of the system and protection of the heat exchanger;
  • household chemicals for widespread use (used for processing internal elements, individual parts of the indoor and outdoor unit).

All these varieties are used to disinfect products that may develop mold, fungus, and pathogenic bacteria. Also, such preparations provide good anti-corrosion protection of the structure and prevent the deposition of mineral salts.

Today there is a large selection of household cleaning products for split systems.

  • "Suprotek". This product is intended for cleaning split systems. It is able to quickly remove all odors and carry out a complete disinfection of equipment. Also, this substance can significantly freshen the air, since it contains a large amount of eucalyptus essential oils, which fill the air with a pleasant aroma. Most often "Suprotek" is used for the indoor unit.
  • Condiclean. This ventilation and air conditioning cleaner is often used for deep antibacterial treatment of split systems. It is produced with chlorhexidine. This substance is a strong antiseptic. With this tool, you can clean the equipment at home.

  • Domo. The foaming agent is used for disinfection and cleaning of condenser and evaporative heat exchangers. It allows you to quickly get rid of all unpleasant odors and impurities.

How to clean it yourself?

First of all, you should carefully lift the lid of the device, and then find the mesh filter parts under it. They must be separately soaked in running water with the addition of a special detergent. It is recommended to dry the filter mechanisms in the sun.

At the same time, it is necessary to thoroughly rinse the blades of the indoor unit of the split system. First, apply soapy clean water to them and turn on the device after 5-7 minutes. To prevent debris and dust from falling on the floor and ceiling at this time, it is better to cover the equipment a little.

There are special plugs on the lower section of the equipment. They should be carefully removed and the screws should be exposed. They also need to be unpinned. Then you need to find all the latches that hold the cover. They come unfastened and stowed away.

Using a vacuum cleaner, you need to thoroughly clean all the dust from the internal structure of the air conditioner. After that, carefully remove the latches from the condensate container. A special drain tube is fitted to the back of the container, which cannot be disconnected.

The vessel is completely cleaned of accumulated dirt and dust. The impeller is located deeper, which transfers the air flows from the room to the evaporator. This part also needs to be vacuumed.
