Wood products are actively used by designers in interiors. On the ceiling, on the wall and hanging - the product is universal. Most often, such decorative elements are used for harmonious zoning of small rooms.

Peculiarities

This decorative element is loved by many designers and people for whom designers shape interiors. For example, the rack structure will give lightness to the room, such a partition will help to neatly preserve the area of the room. It is also important to design partitions in a room where one zone will be left without a window, because such a structure freely allows the sun's rays to pass through. Beams, slats and columns are perfect for decor. Especially well wooden slats in the interior transform the loft. This material looks great anywhere, retains its original appearance for many years.

In a city apartment, it is best to use high-quality wood materials that have been prepared and dried in advance. In this case, the slats do not deform from sudden changes in humidity.

It is important that they do not begin to crack from the urban atmosphere, which cannot be said about beams and slats made on their own from building market beams.

The latter, over time, crack and deform. It is natural that making wooden slats with your own hands is much cheaper, but the quality of the products suffers greatly, which deteriorates the appearance of the entire room.

Reiki is most often hollow on the inside, which significantly reduces their weight. This is especially important when designing a ceiling, which is why they are used in most cases. There are also options for ready-made modules, which are represented by lattices from a wooden bar. Even an inexperienced person will be able to mount the ceiling with the help of such modules, although it is better to contact specialists in this field.

The wood from which the slats are made for interior decoration is thermally processed. In this case, moisture is removed from the wood, making the material more resistant to changes in the level of humidity in the room. This allows the product to be used even in a bathroom where the humidity is constantly changing. The thermal method is ideal only for slats, because after high temperature processing, the tree becomes fragile and is not suitable for construction.

The smell of the product differs from other materials, as it is especially pleasant and has a positive effect on the atmosphere of the room.

Another significant feature is the color of the product. The uncoated product has a pleasant light shade, but it can be changed for a specific interior.

After processing the wood, the color darkens and becomes more saturated, it can be made lighter with the help of special varnishes that are sold in hardware stores.

Decorating slats are completely different depending on the type of wood. The material can be various types of wood, the properties of the laths and their appearance also depend on their type. There are several types of decorative wood slats.

  • Slats made of pine will be an excellent option for a small apartment. They are inexpensive and quite durable, they are perfectly preserved for a long time. But not everything is so smooth, there is one drawback - they do not feel very well in humid places and are often covered with mold.
  • Beech slats, unlike the previous version, create a rich decoration of the room. This is due to the high density of the wood structure and its beauty. But such material very quickly absorbs moisture and, as a result, can swell, losing its original appearance. To avoid this, the beech must be treated with a special varnish.
  • Oak wood products have incorporated many positive properties. It is great for any room, copes well with fluctuations in humidity and temperature, and is also pleasing to the eye. Most often, such slats are used in hallways and in kitchens, where its durability is especially important.
  • Exotic woods such as paduk, boxwood and other valuable species are not only difficult to find, but also expensive. If you do not mind the funds for the decoration of the premises, then you should definitely pay attention to these materials. They are distinguished by their color, thanks to which they look beautiful in many rooms.

If these materials do not suit anything, you can look at spruce, larch and ash slats. Birch slats will fit well into a light room, and alder and linden products will fit into a dark room.

Dimensions (edit)

Lamellas (the so-called planed wooden slats) have the best quality, which is achieved by sawing dry wood. After careful sanding, a final coat or color is applied to the wood to achieve the desired color.

There are several standard sizes, but on order you can get any rail that is suitable for the implementation of the intended ideas. To create a spectacular canvas from wood, most often they use a rail with a section of 20x40 mm, which does not create excess weight. The more popular dimensions include slats measuring 20x50 mm.

Applications in different rooms

There are many options for using wood slats, for example, they are used for:

  • decoration of ceilings;
  • focusing on the walls;
  • dividing the space in the room;
  • staircase fences.

They look great in many rooms. In the living room, the walls are trimmed with slats and placed behind the sofa, in the bedroom they are used for the headboard, and in the kitchen they separate the dining area.

Such small planks ideally hide the unevenness of the ceiling in the apartment.

Buffel strips are used quite often, they hide wiring and other communication wires. The originality of such decoration will change the geometry of the room, and the boards placed across will expand the room.

The through space of the premises is zoned with the help of partitions made of wood, which let in light and harmoniously divide the zones in a one-room apartment or studio. Decorative slats separate the kitchen from the dining room, they can delimit the study in the living room. Many interior solutions have shown that buffels are perfect for decorating apartments. They are used for interiors in various premises. You can install such a product with glue or place it on a frame.

Living room

Here, the slats usually zone the room and are attached to the walls. Various shelves, flowers and much more are fixed to the wall lined with slats, behind the sofa. You can install a TV in front of the sofa, and hide the wires between the structural elements.

Kitchen

In the kitchen, such products are used in the dining area. A wall of slats separates the eating area and attracts attention. Designs with white backlighting, slightly reaching the ceiling, will look most advantageous. When finishing the ceiling, buffels will hide irregularities and wires.

Bedroom

Professional designers prefer to decorate bedrooms with planks at the head of the bed. This allows you to cover the entire wall and improve the appearance of the room. Often the slats are installed asymmetrically, that is, only on two walls.

Balcony

A balcony is one of the most inconvenient places for a designer, because in a small room all the elements must be placed rationally, beautifully and elegantly. The easiest way is to decorate the walls of a covered balcony with lamellas, to cover the entire space in this way, or to make individual accents. Flowers are placed on the buffels, which creates the feeling of a garden.

Bathroom

The wood used for the bathroom must be treated with special moisture-proof compounds. The slats separate the shower area and toilet, and are also used to decorate the ceiling and sink in a particular style.

Beautiful examples

Buffels are distinguished by their low cost, functionality and expressive appearance. They look great when designing rooms. One has only to choose an option for yourself to taste.
