Dyson vacuum cleaners, like any equipment, tend to break down, although they are considered one of the best due to their quietness, power and ease of use. Is it possible to diagnose a breakdown and subsequent repairs on your own, or is it better to immediately contact a master?

Major breakdowns and malfunctions

Here are the main situations of vacuum cleaner breakdowns:

  • the unit suddenly does not charge or has stopped turning on;
  • the motor overheats;
  • the device turns off and works intermittently during use;
  • the suction power drops sharply;
  • water collection does not work;
  • cracks appeared on the body of the dust collector;
  • unpleasant burning smell when using;
  • automatic cord rewinder stopped working;
  • the vacuum cleaner started to spark.

In what cases can you fix everything yourself?

As a rule, it is quite difficult to spoil the structure, since this company produces vacuum cleaners from very durable materials that are resistant to damage. Therefore, some minor malfunctions can be eliminated by yourself without fear of damaging the vacuum cleaner. For example, if the dust suction power decreases, then it is enough to try to clean the dust collector, nozzles and thoroughly rinse the microfilter.

Overheating of the engine can also occur due to a too clogged dust collector or dirt getting into the motor part. Odors are removed by washing the microfilter and telescopic tube. There are simple guidelines that will help you control the level of dirtiness of the vacuum cleaner:

  • the dust container must be regularly cleaned and changed;
  • the microfilter is replaced every 3 months;
  • use a vacuum cleaner only for its intended purpose (for example, do not collect liquid if the device is intended only for cleaning dry dust).

How to disassemble the device?

A fan is hidden under filters of varying degrees of purification, the blade of which is covered with a lid and is located between a pair of metal planes. This creates closed channels. The motor can be found under a plastic shroud (usually white) with a cut through air flow path.

Before starting the repair, the vacuum cleaner, of course, must be unplugged from the outlet, and then proceed to removing the case. The filters blocking access to the engine are removed, the plastic housing part is unscrewed and removed. The motor is taken out of the casing, then the fan is twisted (very carefully, the nut has a left-hand thread), then you can find the cover, under which the electrical part is located.

There are vacuum cleaners with two motors. The second is usually located in the area of the brush and can affect the degree of suction of dust or liquids. The assembly of the vacuum cleaner is carried out in the same way, but in the reverse order.

Simple instructions

What if it doesn't work when turned on? First, they check the serviceability of the outlet itself by connecting other equipment to it. Then they inspect the vacuum cleaner plug for damage (if it is not cast, it is possible to disassemble and search for internal breakdowns), then check the cord to see if there is a break or cracks on it.

What to do with poor air intake? First you need to try to increase the power using the regulator, if this does not help, then clean the dust collector, check how clean all the visible filters are. Perhaps the problem lies in the fact that the hose is not completely screwed to the vacuum cleaner.

What to do if the vacuum cleaner starts to turn off during cleaning? It all depends on the overheating of the motor. In such cases, it is recommended to monitor the temperature in the room (it should be as low as possible) and give the vacuum cleaner a rest, taking breaks between cleaning.

Why is there a lot of noise? The noise is usually caused by bearings that have deteriorated over time. Such malfunctions can only be eliminated in service centers by changing the bearings in the housing.

Why isn't the lace wound up automatically? The rewinding drum element is out of order and worn out from time or frequent use. Here you cannot do without disassembling the vacuum cleaner and consulting a specialist.

Why does Dyson spark? Most likely, according to the firm, a special graphite turbo brush starts to fail. It is possible that a short circuit has occurred inside the case. More precisely, only the repairman can indicate the problem. It is forbidden to use such a device until it is repaired, as it may pose a serious danger to life.

When do you need to use the services of a master?

All malfunctions that affect the motor need to be repaired only with the help of a specialist, otherwise you can permanently disable the vacuum cleaner or simply not achieve the desired result. Of course, if you have the skills and special education, you can do without a master, but it's better to play it safe.

Manufacturers recommend that you immediately carry the device to a service center, since the motor requires careful handling. The current addresses and phone numbers of the respective offices can be found on the Internet. There they will help you choose spare parts, replace damaged parts, carefully work with the engine or wire (which, if you repair it yourself, it is quite possible to damage or break), and give recommendations on how to care for the vacuum cleaner. Sometimes a chat or phone consultation is enough; it is possible to call a repairman at home. However, the call to the master is carried out only if the device weighs more than 5 kilograms and is inconvenient for transportation.

If the device fails during the warranty period, then all the complete set are replaced in blocks and free of charge within the time stated in the company's regulations. After the end of the warranty, you will have to pay money, and the time for the repair is agreed with the customers. Diagnostics will be organized in 1 day.
