How to connect an LED spotlight?

In the modern world, technologies are developing at an accelerated pace, so no one can be surprised by a wireless charger or light, the power of which can illuminate half a block. Now, probably, you will no longer meet such a person who does not have at least the slightest idea of ​​what an LED is. It is a kind of light bulb that converts electrical flow into light. It is predominantly fireproof and highly efficient, unlike its counterparts.

The LED floodlight consists of several elements: LED lamps, a control unit, a sealed housing and a bracket. And also there must be a power supply device - for example, a rechargeable battery or a board that is used in standard models, and a controller - it will ensure the operation of equipment using circuit breakers.

All sorts of work with devices that directly depend on electricity are potentially dangerous. And although the installation of an LED floodlight is as simple as possible, virtually everyone can handle it, you need to connect it with great care so as not to harm your own health, since this is an electrical device. For your safety, you should follow some recommendations.

First of all, before starting work, you need to pay attention to your hands. They must be dry. It is strictly forbidden to perform any actions with the equipment when too much dampness is noticed nearby. And also it is impossible to use fabric gloves as protection of the limbs, since in case of a possible electric shock, they will not help, but in order to be the subject of fire, they are quite suitable.

Make sure that the circuit where the connection will be made is disconnected from the power source. This is necessary, again, in order to protect yourself from electric shock.

With the help of an indicator screwdriver, it is necessary to constantly check the voltage in the network and observe that the deviations from 220 volts are no more than 10%. Otherwise, work must be stopped.

If, after connecting, there are some problems with the device, it is not recommended to disassemble and repair it yourself. First of all, it is not a fact that this will lead to a positive result, besides, it is possible to harm both your own health and the subject. Manufacturers prohibit eliminating various defects themselves, in which case maintenance and replacement of equipment with a serviceable one under warranty is impossible.

Earlier in the text, it was mentioned that the installation of the LED floodlight is very simple. Therefore, you need a few tools to connect. First of all, these are wires, they need to be bought in a hardware store in advance, and you should choose from the same material as the searchlight so that there are no problems. Consideration must be given to insulation, for example, special terminal clamps can be used. And, of course, tools such as a soldering iron, a screwdriver, and side cutters are required.

The installation of such spotlights will vary slightly depending on the circuit elements. For example, if you need to add additional motion or light sensors. Although the standard scheme of work is similar.

Immediately before connecting, you must choose the right place where to place the device. This is an important aspect, since it is necessary to take into account the capabilities of the technology and the wishes of the buyer, because they may not always coincide. For example, if a person wants to illuminate the backyard of the house with a spotlight as much as possible, while selecting an area for placement that will be covered by trees or other structures, in this case, it will not work to install the device correctly. It should be borne in mind that the light source needs free space to perform its functions, therefore, you should first select a place so that there are no obstacles to lighting.

To connect an LED spotlight, first you need to connect the cable to the terminals on the box, slightly opening it with a screwdriver before that. The motion sensors are adjustable in 3 directions. One of them will perceive light sensitivity, the second - general, and the third is responsible for setting the time periods of work.

After that, you need to connect the device to the network. Here you should also follow certain rules in order to achieve a positive result. First, the fasteners are removed. Then the case is disassembled, and a cable is laid inside the gland, connected to the terminal block, and the cover can be closed.

It is also possible to buy a floodlight with three wires already built in. In this case, connecting the device is even easier. It is necessary to connect these wires to the wiring of the plug using electrical tape or special pads.

After all these steps, it is enough to fix the device on the bracket and install it in the chosen place. Then connect the equipment to the switch in the 220 Volt network.

Not all LED luminaires require a ground connection. For the most part, this applies to class I floodlights (where protection against electric current is carried out using 2 systems: basic insulation and ways of connecting conductive elements that are accessible to touch), such devices are much safer than others, since there is double protection against possible electric shock.

In the event that the device is connected to electricity using a cable, then usually the wire already has a grounding core or contact, which is simply enough to connect to the conductors of the supply cable. Sometimes spotlights on the body have extra pins to connect to ground.

It happens that a person buying a device does not know anything about grounding and, accordingly, does not connect this function. In such a situation, the device will work normally, but if an emergency occurs, it may cause a higher hazard.

There are LED luminaires in which, in order to save money, they use two-wire cables that have no ground at all, or three-wire ones, where the protective conductor is connected in a group with the rest. Most often, this situation occurs in old houses. If there is no grounding, it is necessary to use diode floodlights, which do not need it, that is, only with basic insulation.

In order for the spotlight to last as long as possible, you should choose a strong mount for it. The easiest way is to use a steel clamp. With this option, the diode luminaire can be fixed to any surface, for example, on a pole.
