Many of the inhabitants argue with excitement about which ceiling should be purchased, which one is better - glossy or matte. Advantages are undoubtedly present in both. But many designers today offer to opt for stretch satin ceilings.

Peculiarities

Satin is one of the classic types of weaving of threads that create a smooth surface and a special shine of the fabric. Some ceiling coverings made from the thinnest PVC film have the effect of such a fabric.

The structures of such ceilings are durable and, when flooded, the stretch fabric can withstand a huge amount of water, after it is removed it takes its original shape. Useful in installation. Installation and dismantling is simple: one procedure takes no more than 5 hours.

The cost of satin ceilings is lower than glossy or matte ones, and is available to any buyer.

Due to the special interweaving of threads and micro-relief, the canvas acquires the so-called "chameleon" effect, that is, it changes shades depending on the lighting of the room. A single color coating is often photographed with an image.

In addition to the positive performance characteristics inherent in all stretch ceilings, satin has its own advantages:

  • the weave structure does not allow the fabric to deform;
  • the material does not fade when exposed to sunlight;
  • the design is practically soundproof - this is especially true for residents of panel houses;
  • great durability of the canvas - when flooded, it is able to hold 100 liters of water per 1 sq. m, that is, its fortress is enough for a small children's pool;
  • the elements of the system are safe and environmentally friendly - they do not harm human health, due to hypoallergenicity and the presence of non-flammable components, such a coating can be used even in medical institutions;
  • does not absorb odors during operation;
  • satin is the most durable stretch coating, its average service life is up to 15 years.

A special coating protects the surface of the stretch ceiling from all kinds of dust and dirt. If the need arises, satin can be simply wiped off with a dry cloth or treated with a specialized spray.

In some cases, ammonia-based detergents can be used.

There are also disadvantages of satin ceilings, but they do not exceed the disadvantages of other ceiling coverings:

  • The canvas does not tolerate sudden changes in temperature, it is absolutely not suitable for rooms where there is no heating - in this case, cracks appear on it. But at high temperatures, such a coating can sag.
  • With a large area - more than 20 sq. m. - sagging of the connecting seams is possible. You can avoid this problem with zoning or a complex multi-level design.
  • Satin ceiling requires careful maintenance, this applies to sharp objects that can damage the surface.
  • The white ceiling resembles the usual high-quality whitewash.
  • The presence of a specific smell in the initial period - then it disappears.
  • If the ceiling is more than 20 m, then you have to put up with the seams. True, an experienced craftsman will be able to make them "invisible".

Views

The appearance of the satin coating directly depends on the room in which you pull it on: in an apartment, in a private house or in an office building. Lighting changes the perception of a surface.The canvases may differ in their original width - they are made from 1.2 to 3 m and even more.

Of course, you yourself will have to make a choice which is better - satin, gloss with a spectacular mirror surface or matte canvas.

Glossy ceiling glare and has a high reflectivity, which means that many large objects will be reflected in it, as in a mirror, although not with such accuracy and brightness. Some consumers may not like this, because the room should always be in perfect order. There are also advantages. Gloss visually increases the volume of the room.

Matt ceilingon the contrary, it does not reflect light at all, which means that it will look great in a lit room.

If the light is artificial and hurts the eyes, then a matte finish can dim the excess light.

In appearance satin surface balances between glossy and matte varieties. It is not as glare as gloss: the reflectivity is very low, but also not as cold as matte.

Visually, satin ceilings resemble silk fabric, which fits perfectly into any interior. White satin looks noble, colored - like the expensive fabric with which medieval royals decorated their palaces. The extraordinary pearlescent shine of such a ceiling covering, coupled with the play of light, creates a magical impression.

Many do not notice the fundamental difference between matte and satin canvases, but in vain. Satin finishes do not have the graininess inherent in matte surfaces, which is a definite plus.

Design and colors

It is, of course, only for you to choose which color is preferable for your room. As you know, the range of satin coatings has about 120 shades. However, it's a good idea to keep in mind the advice of famous designers.

The color of the canvas must be chosen depending on the lighting of the room.

Thanks to the different colors of the satin construction, the room can be divided into zones in the case of installing multi-level ceilings and lighting of different brightness in certain parts of the room.

By using different color schemes, you can create a rather joyful atmosphere in the room. First of all, it is stylish and always uplifting.

The blue ceiling in the bedroom will act soothingly, set you up for a relaxing state. Don't like bright colors? Use an ivory canvas.

You can try white. Such a ceiling is a symbol of cleanliness and goes well with any interior. In the room, it will be possible to arrange furniture made of any material, depending on the chosen style, as well as use wallpaper of different color shades. White also goes well with designs of any brightness and tone.

Bright and cheerful colors with different patterns will look perfect in the nursery. For example, pale pink - for a girl, light green or turquoise - for boys. Shades of blue evoke a feeling of lightness and carelessness. By the way, it is the blue color that is not recommended for use in the kitchen: according to experts, it reduces appetite.

It is better to “dress” the living room in warm colors. Orange, peach and even yellow will look great here - this is a symbol of wealth, cheerfulness and fertility. Such a ceiling visually enlarges the space.

Neutral, pastel colors will create an atmosphere of calm and nobility.

The light green color of the ceiling in the kitchen is a great option. To match him, you can pick up furniture in the same cheerful colors and you will become the owner of an extraordinary, stylish kitchen where you can spend evenings with your loved ones. The green tone will help you focus and relax under stress.

Are you a bright, dynamic person who is not afraid to experiment? Choosing a red ceiling. However, remember that this color is not suitable for small spaces.A ceiling in coral tones will help you to cheer up, stimulate brain activity. But in a cozy kitchen in red tones you always want to eat, as this color whets your appetite.

Given the texture of the satin finish, there is no doubt that any color you choose will constantly open up in a new light, because it all depends on the lighting.

For example, if you choose not a plain canvas, but with a sticker or an artistic one, as an addition, you can pick up Swarovski crystals or with a silver effect.

Such a ceiling - always refined and stylish, will create an atmosphere of luxury in the room.

How to choose for different rooms?

When choosing a ceiling covering for a house, it is necessary to carefully inspect the plane of the canvas. If it has obvious flaws, then a satin finish is the ideal solution in this case.

Volumes and shapes

You can not be afraid to experiment with the volume of the ceiling - the satin canvas looks great with a two-tier structure. Such multi-level systems can transform an ordinary room into a stylish and surprising one. On top of that, it is these structures that will correct all the differences in the height of your walls. And if you skillfully carry out the illumination under them, then the impression will become mesmerizing.

If you prefer an arched model, then such a ceiling will create smooth transitions to the walls. With thoughtful design, the ceiling can be shaped like a dome. The so-called "ridges" - the wavy shape of the ceiling, will perfectly fit into the large hall. If your room décor includes columns, use a tapered shape.

Room selection

  • In the bedroom mother-of-pearl ceilings will create a romantic mood. Pastel colors are a sign of comfort and tranquility. Combined with rich, dark wallpaper, your bedroom will look like a luxurious sitting area, completely isolated from the surrounding noise.
  • Satin ceiling coverings are often used in the living room, studios, spacious halls. In such rooms, you can bring any ideas to life by choosing the appropriate furniture and accessories.
  • Illuminated ceilings in bold pink tones will give the room a bright, colorful flavor, striking those present with an abundance of shades and saturation of light.
  • Choosing between materials for the ceiling in the kitchen, experts recommend staying on a glossy canvas, not satin. However, many people still prefer satin, as it is quite easy to care for it.
  • Special attention - corridor or hallway... Usually these are small rooms with little lighting and no windows. The lack of light visually makes them smaller, so you need to think not only about the ceiling, but also about possible additional lighting points. To make your hallway lighter and taller, experts recommend using the effect of a starry sky or adding a metallic sheen.

Reviews

Before starting repair work, many of us are looking for reviews about a particular material on the Internet. Satin-coated ceilings did not escape the fate of the assessment. Many owners of a noble ceiling covering are pleasantly surprised that the material has surpassed all their expectations.

First of all, it is noted that the canvas looks like silk, makes the room cozy and respectable.

Smooth canvases perfectly level the surface, all imperfections on the ceiling become almost invisible.

Also a pleasant discovery for many was the unusual reflection of the light of satin ceilings - they are not as "mirror-like" as their glossy counterparts, due to the structure, the light is very unusually refracted and unique color shades are created - from delicate pearlescent to rich tones. It all depends on the main color.

Many buyers were worried that white ceilings would become commonplace, not bringing the effect of novelty to the interior of the room.However, as a result, they got a smooth ceiling that looks great with any kind of room decoration: you can not be afraid to make a mistake with the choice of curtains and wallpaper. The perfectly white ceiling creates a harmonious atmosphere.

And the most important thing, according to fans of satin, is easy maintenance and waterproofing of ceilings. That is, in the case of cleaning, it is enough just to wipe the dust off the cover with a dry cloth.

Beautiful examples in the interior

It is becoming more and more difficult to surprise with the kind of ceiling covering today: the variety of models does not leave even the most biased client without a choice. Therefore, when defining the interior and style of your room, you must use the advice of "seasoned" experts.

To make your home unlike anything you have seen, decide on the style.

Modern and popular high-tech is a light satin finish with a “metallic” sheen. And, of course, the original lighting.

Prefer classic style? Pastel colors, white satin with a delicate shimmer will add special notes to the design. Shades of beige, coffee, ivory will also be an ideal option. The color of ripe flax is very popular.

Admirers of Art Nouveau will have to choose from two colors - black, which gives clarity to the lines and completeness of the design, and crystal white without any inserts and decorative moments.

The original colors and unusual inserts are the characteristics of the fusion style. Your ceiling structure can be made "wood-like" or with a "stone" pattern. Such an unusual solution will completely transform the room, and if you still use photo printing of an unusual shape, then the interior can reach perfection.

In this style, multi-level ceilings, arches with smooth lines are welcome. If necessary, supplement your interior with lighting fixtures or unusual colors with lighting.

Ethnic style is becoming more and more popular. This also applies to ceilings. You can create an atmosphere of a hot desert with endless sand dunes, wild savannah, Indian mystery and a riot of colors with the help of an unusual ceiling covering.

Minimalism does not require any special fantasies, but the color scheme of the ceiling covering must be professionally thought out. There is no place for pretentiousness, gold and glitter, everything should be restrained and dignified.

Whatever color and shape of the ceiling you choose, the satin ceiling will definitely emphasize the sophistication of your taste.
