Multilevel ceiling coverings are becoming more and more popular today. You can choose both two-level and three-level options. At the same time, it is necessary to take into account the general style of the interior of the room.

Peculiarities

Multilevel stretch ceilings are structures that allow the canvases to be positioned at different heights. Such a ceiling covering can consist of curved shapes or have protrusions.

The ceiling can be extended into arches, vaults, steps or zigzags. With the help of such products, with a good designer, you can create the illusion of depth or visually increase the space.

One of the main advantages of such ceilings is a huge variety of design solutions. The striking appearance makes these ceilings an excellent choice for any space. Such ceilings allow you to "play" with lighting: spotlights, LED strips, panels, floating lines - this is just a small part of what can be done on this ceiling covering.

Moving on to the technical features, I would like to note that such ceilings perfectly hide irregularities and surface differences. Also canvases can "hide" power supply, ventilation, fire alarm and fire extinguishing systems. These canvases are non-toxic and require minimal maintenance. It is only necessary to wipe them occasionally. If we compare these ceilings with plasterboard, then they clearly outperform them, since they are more durable, water-resistant, and also much easier to install and use.

An important factor is the possibility of dividing the room into functional zones., thanks to the use of different colors of paintings. The design of these ceilings allows you to create complex combinations of pendant and built-in lamps, to set a certain light for the room. Also, with different types of lighting, for example, point or lamp, the interior will look different.

The technology for attaching stretch ceilings is that a frame is created from baguettes, into which the canvas itself is already set. Baguettes can be aluminum or plastic.

Among the profiles for fastening are:

  1. Universal, which is designed for the installation of all kinds of systems.
  2. Wall, in which the attachment is carried out completely to the wall.
  3. Ceiling, which is used when mounted directly to the ceiling.

There are three ways to fix the canvas: harpoon (the most expensive and high-quality option), wedge (second in quality after harpoon), and glazing (the most unreliable of the methods). The advantages of such a ceiling include a perfectly flat surface and good insulating properties. Such a ceiling does not allow sounds, smells, and moisture to pass through. Moreover, such a ceiling is fireproof, which is an important plus.

Ceilings can be single-tiered, two-tiered, three-tiered, and so on. As far as imagination is enough for you or your designer. There is one basic recommendation: it is advisable to design more than two tiers only for a room with high ceilings, for example, a country house. Ceilings can be straight or have many curved lines, smooth transitions or sharp protrusions.

Often they use a combination of plasterboard and stretch ceilings or stepped, multi-level coatings with complex geometric shapes.

There are also ceilings with 3D patterns, which are best used at the highest level, otherwise the canvas may glare, which will worsen the overall impression as a result.

If we consider two-level ceilings, then 3 options are used here:

  • stretch fabric and plasterboard frame;
  • plastic and drywall;
  • only drywall or only plastic.

Tiered ceiling coverings are an excellent choice for any kind of space, be it a bedroom, kitchen, hall or cafe, club, any other commercial enterprise. Such ceilings are suitable everywhere, because they are very flexible in terms of design and will be able to please even the most fastidious client. The number of varieties of such ceilings is huge. Depending on the material used, the type of surface, print, they can be glossy, matte, satin, metallic, velor, translucent, mirror, with sequins and photo printing. With regard to the choice of color, then the whole range of colors is at your service.

Tiered ceilings are the best choice in terms of design and quality. There are simple rectangular or rounded ceilings, which are most often used in apartments with low ceilings so as not to overload the room. Otherwise, the complex ceiling will "press" on the interior of the room and violate all harmony. Ceiling coverings in the form of waves or arches are also popular, they are used when the ceiling is quite high, and the place allows you to create such a complex structure.

  • Two-tier design - one of the simplest options, from the name it is clear that the ceiling consists of two frames.
  • Arch - this version of the ceiling design is already more original, rather complex structures are used here, the essence of which is to create a smooth transition from the ceiling to the wall.
  • Wave - quite an interesting version of the ceiling. During installation, workers lay the canvas as if in folds, which creates the effect of a sea wave. To enhance it, you need a correctly selected color scheme, as well as, if desired, point lighting.
  • Cone - such ceilings are installed if it is necessary to decorate a column or any prominent part of the room.
  • There are round ceilings, which will suit almost any style of interior, as well as oval, spiral and in the form of a variety of shapes.

Styles

It's time to talk about styles. There are different directions: antique, classical, ethnic, colonial, modern and mixed. A multi-level ceiling is suitable for all these styles, since there are a lot of options for decorating a dream ceiling: all kinds of curved lines, sharp or smooth transitions, a variety of lamps inside the ceiling covering or as an addition to it. All colors are available to create the perfect tiered ceiling.

As mentioned earlier, the existence of matte, glossy, mirror and other coatings greatly facilitates the work of the designer, and also helps the client to realize his seemingly unimaginable dream. Often, technologies lag behind design, but this is definitely not about stretch ceilings, because you can create any kind of relief from them. The most important thing is that the material and color of the ceiling are in harmony with the rest of the interior. After all, aesthetics is far from the last criterion of comfort and prosperous life in an apartment or house.

With ceilings less than 2.5 meters high, it is not recommended to use several levels, otherwise the coating will literally touch the head. Also, you do not need to chase complex types and structures, having a laconic, simple interior, because such a ceiling will overload the room, creating discomfort. It is best to use light colors to add lightness to the room and make it look bigger.

These ceiling coverings are best suited to modern trends: art deco, country, alpine style (chalet), minimalism, modernism, pop art, eco-style, hi-tech, postmodernism, loft. Correctly selected coating will play a significant role in creating style.

Such a ceiling is also not bad for a mixed style - eclecticism (from the Greek word "chosen"). This style was born in those places where different nationalities and peoples often gathered. Eclecticism is a style that is not subject to any laws, it can include two opposite directions that will perfectly complement each other, and the ceiling can serve as a "bridge" from the transition from one style to another.

Now let's talk a little about finishing materials. In order to create a visual enlargement of the room, a glossy material will do. If you need the smoothest possible surface, then your choice is a satin finish with a fine-grained texture. To properly decorate a room made in a classic style, you need to use matte ceilings, they will not distract the guest from bright interior items.

The most versatile is the fabric, due to its special structure, it maintains a comfortable climate in the room. Also, to create ceilings, materials with a mother-of-pearl surface are used, imitating wood, metal, suede and marble.

Zoning

Multilevel ceilings are used not only for purely aesthetic purposes. With their help, you can achieve quite tangible visual changes in the size of the room. For example, if you lower the ceiling in the hallway, and install lighting in the kitchen, it will seem that the kitchen space is much lighter and more spacious than it really is. This technique is often used by designers, builders and architects: to increase one space, they reduce another.

Many people are interested in how to divide a room without cluttering it with unnecessary walls or partitions. Two- or three-level ceiling coverings solve this problem very easily with the help of smooth movements from one style to another, as well as the play of colors. Of course, this is not the direct purpose of a multi-level ceiling, it is created primarily as a decoration, it can be incredible curved shapes or have a simple and modest design. On the even parts of the ceiling, a drawing, ornament or even a photo print can be located, the main thing is that all this is combined and looks harmonious.

The ceiling itself will not be able to fully divide the room into zones., it is also necessary that furniture, floor, walls contribute to this. Partitions, small screens, podiums and other structures can enhance the zoning effect.

If you want to place a dining table in the hall, then this area can be highlighted with the help of an oval ceiling figure above the table, as well as enhanced lighting of this area. It is recommended that you use a different color combination for each of the areas you want to highlight. For this, it would be best to choose at least three or four different shades. If the ceiling is low, then this greatly reduces the possible design options, but even in this situation, with a well-chosen color scheme, you can achieve an increase in the space of the room.

If you want to concentrate attention in the center of the room, then a level oval, circle or square is ideal for such tasks, in which you can install a chandelier, which will remove unnecessary attention from the corners of the room. In addition to the fact that the room can be visually expanded, it can also be narrowed in order to make it more comfortable and reduce the pressure of the ceiling and walls.

Beautiful examples in the interior

The classic combination is the use of brown and beige ceiling coverings. It can be applied to many interior styles. Such a multi-level ceiling will suit even small rooms, but the walls should be light.

Tiered ceiling can be complemented with stylish lighting. It looks very nice and impressive when the light is reflected in the glossy floor covering.

The ceiling covering most often has neutral colors, and furniture becomes a bright accent in the room.
