Our today's material is devoted to the analysis of the following topic: is it allowed to wash porcelain in the dishwasher, and, if so, how to do it correctly.

What kind of porcelain can be machine washed?

It is well known that porcelain dishes are the fruit of the work of experienced, professional craftsmen. Therefore, deciding whether it can be machine cleaned must be taken with all seriousness.

First you need to find out if a specific type of material is designed for such a procedure. Bone, as well as Chinese traditional services, are fired at a high temperature. Therefore, the strength as a whole is ensured. But this property should not be abused either.

Only models made no more than 15 years ago are robust enough to be machine washed.

It is also worth remembering that manufacturers usually mark their products with prohibitive or permissive signs. Regardless, gold-bordered items are best hand washed. The likelihood of destruction of an elegant finish always exists, and it is almost impossible to restore it; it is also undesirable to wash products over 20 years old and all items that are dear, like memory.

Porcelain antiques without options must be washed by hand. Back in the middle of the twentieth century, it never occurred to anyone to find out the stability of the pattern, the degree of porosity and other parameters, and there were no dishwashers then. The modern Czech service can be washed mechanically, but not more than at 50 degrees. But the owners of Nikko goods, even with a gold border, are lucky - they are able to transfer contact with boiling water and detergents. Also good are Royal Bone and Fine China and Narumi.

General rules for washing dishes in a dishwasher

Fragile porcelain must not be washed with standard detergents. Citric acid, bleaches are prohibited. Also, the presence of any abrasive particles and inclusions is unacceptable. The dishes should be washed as soon as possible. If it is impossible to do this right away, you should at least rinse it.

A silicone mat is very important when washing porcelain. Sometimes only he is able to protect sensitive utensils from destruction. Experts consider gel to be an ideal detergent.

Overloading the dishwasher is unacceptable - both in terms of weight and volume.

If possible, the porcelain should be mechanically washed less frequently.

There are also such recommendations:

  • put down large, small up;

  • exclude interference with the blades;

  • do not put dishes on their side;

  • put very dirty items only at a lower load;

  • cracked and glued things are generally better to clean independently, without the help of technology.

Program selection and loading

Almost any dishwasher now has a delicate mode. Usually it is enough for this task. The most advanced products supplied by leading companies also have specialized modes for working with fragile dishes. The necessary information can be found in the technical data sheet. It is also important to properly prepare for the procedure.

In advance, food debris is removed from the dishes. This is done with a rubber or silicone spatula. Sharp objects and brushes must not be used, as they will inevitably leave a large number of scratches.

The arrangement of containers in boxes should exclude their contact. Silicone holders help to distinguish them.

Important recommendations:

  • avoid washing porcelain together with metal and wood utensils;

  • set the minimum processing time;

  • exclude strong heating of water;

  • in the absence of delicate programs, you will have to stop the program manually before starting the drying;

  • after unloading the porcelain, it is immediately rubbed dry with a kitchen towel or napkin.
