Electric stoves have long and firmly occupied their niche in the range of kitchen appliances. Sometimes their installation is necessary, since most of the new buildings are not connected to the gas main. And sometimes the choice of stove is dictated by design requirements or the desire to optimize the kitchen space.

Features of choice

Choosing an electric stove, the consumer primarily focuses on its size. This takes into account a number of factors: the size and configuration of the room, the preferences and needs of the owners, ease of use, the design of the kitchen and the location of the furniture. All electric stoves are divided into 2 main categories: cabinet and built-in. Built-in models allow you to organically fit the stove into any interior, place the hob and oven separately. The cost of such plates is quite high.

Body plates are more affordable in price. This is the best option if you plan to replace an old stove. These models are easy to move when replacing kitchen furniture or renovating, they can be wide or narrow. Such electric stoves have standard sizes that are designed in accordance with the dimensions of the furniture, they are adhered to by all manufacturers.

Standard sizes

The most unified are traditional four-burner stoves with an oven. Their dimensions are 60x60x85 cm, where 60x60 are the parameters of width and depth, and 85 are heights. But in small apartments, the kitchen is very small, allowing only the minimum amount of equipment to be placed. A narrow slab with dimensions of 50x50x85 cm is perfect for such a room.

Parameters 50x50 will allow the hostess to move freely in a confined space.

Height

The standard height of the cabinet plate is 85 cm. This is not a whim of the manufacturer, it is designed not only taking into account the height of the furniture, but also how convenient it will be for the hostess to work. When choosing a stove, you should not save on such an option as adjustable legs, although now almost all models are equipped with them. This will allow you to change the height from 85 to 80 centimeters, which is very useful when you need to adjust the stove to fit kitchen furniture, countertops or a person's height.

The floors are also very often uneven, and the plate should not swing under any circumstances. A difference of even 2-3 mm makes the owners feel uncomfortable and put something under the device.

It is very easy to avoid such problems by adjusting each leg to the required height.

Width

This parameter is the most variable, which makes it possible to organize a comfortable workspace even in a small room. It also happens that a 60 cm wide slab does not correspond to the design idea. Modern manufacturers have developed a variety of models for such cases. You can find a 55 cm wide stove with full four burners. There are also three-burner triangular plates with a width of 45, 50 cm.

The smaller width (40 and even 36 cm) allows you to place only 2 burners, but it is already very difficult to place a large saucepan or frying pan on them. It is impossible to further reduce this parameter for full-fledged home appliances with an oven, and single-burner electric stoves are already a "summer cottage" option without an oven. For large kitchens, there are electric stoves up to 90 cm wide, on which 5 or even 6 burners are placed.

Depth

The depth of the electric cooker depends on the number of available burners and is 60, 55, less often 50 cm. It is hardly possible to find cabinet cookers of a shallower depth, since this parameter corresponds to the standard dimensions of kitchen furniture.

If an even more compact device is required, then the built-in electric stove will help out.

Dimensions of built-in electric stoves

The built-in stove is the most convenient and modern option for a kitchen of any size and design. The ability to purchase the hob separately from the oven allows you to either completely abandon the latter, saving space for storing kitchen utensils, or place it in a convenient place by choosing a model of a suitable size. Such a stove fits into any interior, allows rational use of space, and is convenient for cleaning. The dimensions of the hob do not affect its functionality in any way and only depend on specific requirements.

Manufacturers offer a variety of options for built-in slabs. The wider the panel, the more interesting the design solutions. It can be round, semicircular, oval, models in the form of a trapezoid, five-pointed or even six-pointed, resembling a honeycomb are possible.

Stoves are very attractive and convenient, the burners of which are arranged according to the "domino" principle. The most common, of course, are the standard square or rectangular four-burner models. If the width of the kitchen cabinet is 60 cm, and the thickness of the countertop is not less than 28 and not more than 38 mm, then it will not be difficult to choose the appropriate technique.

When purchasing a hob, you need to pay attention to its thickness (it has no height). In popular models, it can vary from 60 to 80 mm, parameters from 40 mm to 100 mm are less common. The minimum panel width is 25-30 cm, the maximum is up to 90 cm.

The number of burners has little effect on the depth of the panels, this parameter depends on the model. As a rule, it is 60 cm.

Selection recommendations

It is not very easy to navigate in the offered variety of electric stoves, especially since this device is purchased for quite a long time. Plates differ not only in size, but also in functions, principles of operation. The following step-by-step instructions will simplify the task.

  • First of all, it is necessary to determine and carefully measure the place where the electrical appliance will be installed. This will determine the size and type of the slab (cabinet or built-in). These parameters are of particular importance for a small kitchen, here the choice will be significantly limited by the configuration and dimensions of the stove.
  • It is worth considering the color scheme in accordance with the design, the color of the kitchen furniture and the existing equipment. Most of the cabinet models offered, manufactured to accepted standards, are limited to the traditional white or brown colors.
  • It is necessary to determine the type of hob. It can be enameled (options are possible - stainless steel or a special aluminum alloy) or glass-ceramic. Each of them has its pros and cons and affects the price of the product.
  • It is important to remember that the size and shape of the cooking zones must match the base of the cookware used. In addition, the dishes themselves should have an even, thick bottom, not consisting of fusible materials and not contaminated by anything.

Models with an enamelled surface are equipped with round cast-iron burners, they are more familiar in design, easier in everyday care, more durable and cheaper. A significant drawback of cast iron burners is slow heating, they also cool down for a long time. The glass-ceramic surface is smooth, reminiscent of tinted glass. It is important to remember that it is quite fragile: point and strong blows, heavy weight can easily damage it.

It is quite "capricious" in everyday use: it does not tolerate scratches, dirt. A drop of hot sugar not immediately removed will cause irreparable harm to the surface: a “shell” will form, which cannot be removed. The damaged surface must be replaced.

The hotplates on the stove are marked with heating zones with special markings. They can be of different types: conventional, called rapid, halogen, induction. Ordinary burners are heated with an incandescent spiral, so the heating-cooling processes are slow. Halogen (heated by a halogen lamp), on the contrary, after switching on will instantly warm up and cool down quickly.

Induction hobs are operated using an electromagnetic field. Their power is easier to regulate, while only the bottom of the dishes heats up, the surface of the stove remains cold. But such burners require the use of steel or cast iron cookware, which is capable of magnetization; other cookware must be equipped with special magnetic stickers.

You can evaluate the set of functions by looking at the instructions. Many slabs have a whole range of options that will never come in handy, but can significantly affect the price. This is the most necessary information, without knowing which it is very difficult to choose a suitable electric stove.

In addition, you need to familiarize yourself with the brands of electric stoves, choosing a trusted and reliable manufacturer, because this technique is not purchased for one day.
