The Canadian Harmony variety - the name translates as "Canadian harmonious" - is considered a frost-resistant crop with a high yield and very tasty fruits. Peaches are consumed fresh, used for making compotes, jams, dried and frozen.

Bred in Canada at the Vineland agricultural station in 1968.

The tree is medium-sized, the height depends on the variety on which it is grafted: on a medium-sized rootstock - no higher than 3.5-4 m, and on a vigorous rootstock - up to 4.5 -5 m. The trunk is straight, grows vertically, the bark is yellow-brown, the crown is dense , the leaves are elongated, long, pointed with a slightly toothed edge, dark green, smooth, shiny.

The flowers are pink and white and form on one-year-old shoots. It begins to bloom in May. Duration of flowering is from 6 to 12 days. The maximum productivity is 8-12 years, then the yield begins to decline.

They are huge in size, weighing 150-250 g, individual up to 300 g. They have a rounded-oval shape, orange with a dark red blush, juicy, with a diameter of 9 cm.The pulp is orange-yellow, dense, fleshy, pink near the stone, with a bright fruit aroma. The bone is detachable, dry. The skin is slightly pubescent. They are well transported (up to 200 km), stored for about a week, differ in their presentation.

Sweet taste with sourness and subtle bitterness, harmonious. Tasting score - 4.8 points.

The variety is medium late in terms of ripening, it is removed in the last days of August. In the sun, peaches tan and become covered with a bright blush, in the shade they remain yellow. Not prone to shedding.

High-yielding, the quality of care affects the number and size of fruits. Begins to bear fruit 2 years after planting. About 9 kg can be removed from a young tree.

In Russia, peach trees are grown in the North Caucasus region, Crimea, Krasnodar Territory and Stavropol Territory, Rostov Region. This variety is suitable for cultivation in Central Russia, it is possible to grow in colder climates. There is experience of planting in the Moscow region, the Orenburg region and even in Siberia.

Self-fertile, flowers are pollinated in any weather, pollination does not occur in severe frosts.

They choose sunny areas for the tree, it is better on an elevation, does not like lowlands and flooded places. It is recommended to plant in a place protected from the wind, on the west or south side.

Seedlings with open roots are placed in water for 12 hours to saturate with moisture, then the roots are lubricated with Maksimarin gel to protect against pests. Plants are planted with an interval of 3.5x3.5 m.For planting, holes are dug 80x80 cm.

During the period of growth and fruiting, intensive watering is required; with a lack of water, flowers and ovaries crumble. To reduce the loss of ovaries, it is recommended to spray with the preparation "Skor". Water should be plentiful, but infrequent, even in drought conditions. In the last decade of October, water-charging irrigation is carried out, the soil layer is saturated with moisture to full moisture capacity. They dig up the earth between the rows and loosen it to a depth of 20 cm, near the trunk - no deeper than 14.

They are fed in early spring with urea, during the period of leaf appearance - with a solution of urea, during the period of fruiting - with potash fertilizers, you can feed it with the Agromaster complex.

In autumn, the bark is whitewashed with lime and clay and sprayed with a solution of lime. The peach is bent down, covered with spunbond in several layers for the winter. In the spring, they open as the snow melts, form a crown, cut and process.

The best crown shape is cupped. For 3-4 years, the central trunk is removed when the tree is already formed. Trees at full fruiting age should be pruned regularly so that they renew more quickly. Needs sanitary pruning in spring.

When a large number of ovaries are formed, 50% of them are removed. Such rationing allows you to get larger fruits. Remove those in the shade. After a huge harvest, the tree may not have time to prepare for winter and will be very cold.

The culture has high winter hardiness, withstands temperatures down to -30 degrees, but shelter is required. The root area is mulched, protective barriers are erected around the trunk, the plant is covered with agrofibre. After severe frosts, trees may not bear fruit and may be affected by fungal diseases. Often, it is not the trees themselves that freeze out, but the flower buds. Even in severe freezing conditions, Canadian Harmony is able to recover and produce crops. Withstands late spring frosts well.

The variety is resistant to powdery mildew and curliness. To protect against diseases, preventive spraying is carried out: in early spring with Brunka, after 2 weeks with Topsinom-M, after another 2 weeks with Median Extra, in the fall - with copper sulfate. To strengthen immunity, it is recommended to ration the amount of harvest every year.

Of the insects, aphids are the most dangerous; for prevention, spraying with an ash solution is used, calendula or marigolds are planted near trees. If there are few aphids on the leaves, then they are washed with soapy water; in case of severe damage, the shoots are cut off and burned.Then the treatment is carried out by means of "Aktara", "Iskra", "Fitoferm".

The culture prefers sandy loam, loamy, chernozem soils, in which it is recommended to add peat and vermicompost of at least 50%. To increase yields and winter hardiness, you can graft a seedling on a frost-resistant stock, suitable for the climate and soil of a particular region.
