In the course of construction work, such as the installation of partitions or internal walls of buildings, bricks were previously used, which were laid out in one row. Today the situation has changed. Thanks to scientific and technological progress, a large number of materials with excellent performance and properties have appeared on the market. This is the hollow tongue-and-groove plate, which will be discussed in the article.

Peculiarities

The tongue-and-groove plate is a rectangular block-parallelepiped with ridges and grooves at the joining edges. This is one of the modern building materials that is in great demand today. It belongs to monolithic products.

For the manufacture of such plates, gypsum is used, in which there are no toxic components and substances. Production takes place in accordance with building regulations such as TU 5742-003-78667917-2005.

According to this document, the hollow version of the tongue-and-groove plate is intended for installation in rooms that are characterized by a dry or normal humidity coefficient.

GWP has the following technical characteristics:

  • noise isolation coefficient - 35-41 dB;
  • density - 1350 kg / m³;
  • water absorption coefficient - from 5% to 32%;
  • resistance coefficient - 0.025.

The stove has a number of advantages, among which it is worth noting:

  • high level of vapor barrier and gas permeability;
  • ease of installation;
  • environmental friendliness - this building material, which is used as partitions in the room, is considered the most harmless and safe;
  • fire resistance;
  • long service life;
  • light weight;
  • resistance to corrosion and decay processes;
  • excellent strength characteristics.

The most important qualities are also wide area of application and the fact that the product does not need to be plastered after installation - just apply a layer of finishing.

As for the shortcomings, there is only one - high cost.

But, given all the advantages, it is safe to say that such costs are fully justified.

What are they?

The range of hollow tongue-and-groove slabs is not so great. Products do not differ in colors or technical parameters; they have standard dimensions, which are provided for by regulatory documents.

The material is made in one size - 66.7x50 cm. The width of the product can be different - 8 cm, 10 cm, 12 cm. This figure depends on where and in what field of activity the product is used.

Most often, for example, during the installation of partitions, a moisture-resistant hollow tongue-and-groove plate with a size of 667x500x80 mm is used.

Comparisons with solid slabs

In addition to hollow slabs, another type of tongue-and-groove structure is presented on the construction market - these are solid slabs. Many inexperienced consumers are wondering what is the difference between these building materials, and which tongue-and-groove is better, which one to give preference to.

Hollow and solid tongue-and-groove slabs differ in several parameters.

  • By weight... A hollow slab is much lighter. This is due to the design features, namely: with the presence of voids inside the product.
  • The load factor on the base.
  • The permissible load that the structure can withstand... In this case, of course, solid slabs are in the lead.

There are still more similarities between these types of building material:

  • sound insulation level;
  • strength;
  • shape and size.

And also the slabs are identical in the method of fastening along the butt edge.

Each type of slab has grooves and ridges, which allows you to mount and connect parts together without much effort and auxiliary equipment.

Application methods

        The physical and technical characteristics and parameters that are inherent in this building material contributed to the fact that the plate is widely used:

        • during the installation of interior walls;
        • for the installation of office partitions.

        This is not at all surprising, because the structure is assembled quite quickly, and unlike, for example, brick or metal partitions, it does not take up much space, saves space.
