No matter how many interesting things in everyday life exist, there are never many of them. And if some users are satisfied with the familiar classics, others are in constant search of creativity and novelty, decorating every room of the home with something unusual. Take for example a blanket: it can be not only warm, soft or made in bright colors. Today, the feature of the form is important: the focus of modern design is the “Bonbon” blanket.

What is it and what is it for?

Blanket "Bonbon" - originally a decorative element of the style, the origin of which is based on the patchwork patchwork technique, which has long existed among different peoples of the world. This was due at one time to a lack of tissue, so each flap was used. Today the product has several names: "Bombon", "Biscuit", "blanket from poufs", "marshmallow".

Today, Bonbon style blankets are made from a new, presentable type of textiles, and the choice of fabric is carried out thoroughly, with a selection of colors. The technique is a kind of decorative and applied art and, in comparison with the usual flat patchwork, differs in texture and volume achieved through printing.

Blanket "Bonbon" is a fabric made of textiles, which has two different sides: a flat purl and a voluminous front one, consisting of fragments-squares of the same size. The edge of the canvas can be laconic, made in the form of a wide edging, decorated with ruffle, frill or braid with pompoms. In general, the product resembles miniature poufs installed in the correct order, fixed on a flat base.

Functionality

An unusual blanket is not just a decor: it is an independent accent of a room, indicating a special atmosphere and a design idea. It can be the basis of a style or a connecting link that connects individual interior items through color.

Such a product is multifunctional:

  • used for its intended purpose as a blanket, covering the user's body during sleep;
  • easily replaces any blanket, turning into a bedspread and giving the sleeping place a neat, well-groomed look;
  • depending on the size, it can become a temporary cover of a sofa, armchair or chair;
  • if necessary, it transforms into a blanket-cocoon, covering the user in an armchair or on a sofa in a cold room;
  • becomes the first toddler's rug who has just learned to sit (softens the fall).

Features and Benefits

Pouf blankets are unique. They are not mass-produced, so none of these products has a duplicate. Even if the size is the same, textiles and filling densities are always different. Basically, such products are created according to previously prepared sketches with a pattern, in which fragments of different patterns are marked.

Thanks to this approach, you can come up with any pattern: from simple diagonal stripes, zigzags or a "checkerboard" to an ornament or a volumetric geometric figure, different silhouettes or abstractions.

Dignity

Unusual blankets have many advantages. They:

  • practically do not differ in thermal properties from an ordinary blanket, giving a feeling of comfort and warming the user's body without overheating;
  • due to the light filler used as stuffing, they do not have a lot of weight, therefore, they are comfortable and easy to use;
  • are made from textiles of natural origin that do not irritate even sensitive skin, therefore they are suitable for allergy sufferers;
  • are made for users of different ages, including newborns, toddlers of the preschool and school period, adolescents and adults (including the elderly);
  • equipped with a natural lining on the seamy side, which gives the product warmth, creates maximum comfort and eliminates fidgeting during sleep;
  • can be an independent design element or are made as a set, supplemented with covers or ready-made pillows of a similar style, similar sides for a crib, seat covers for armchairs or a sofa, textured toys made of an identical material;
  • have a hypoallergenic filler with excellent air exchange and hygroscopicity, resistant to the formation of an environment for microorganisms;
  • due to the dense structure of textiles, they do not let in and do not accumulate dust, which prevents the formation of dust mites - a source of itching and redness of the skin;
  • they are mobile and, if necessary, can be easily folded, folded for storage in the linen drawer of furniture, without taking up much space;
  • are one of the most popular needlework techniques that even an inexperienced craftswoman can cope with, using the techniques of professionals who know how to easily and quickly make such things;
  • always desirable as a gift for yourself or loved ones;
  • in most cases, they withstand washing in a washing machine on a delicate cycle at 30 degrees.

In general, Bonbon blankets are worth the money spent, stand out favorably against the background of classic counterparts or blankets, bedspreads. They are stylish and expensive.

disadvantages

Blankets with an unusual "ottoman" texture cannot be used as a mattress topper, varying the softness of the mattress surface. If outwardly this seems possible, it should be borne in mind: an uneven surface violates the correct position of the back. This is especially true for babies whose spine does not yet have the correct curves.

Other nuances include the limited form: made of square elements, the blanket can only be rectangular or square. In addition, the size of the fragments also has limitations: if the squares are large, the blanket loses its attractiveness, the texture changes, the drawing becomes incomprehensible, broken into separate fragments.

In addition, the blankets need to be dried correctly after washing. They cannot be hung, it is important to dry on a horizontal plane, drying with heating devices or an iron is excluded. Most often, these accessories are used as bedspreads.

It takes time to make them, which requires patience, perseverance and accuracy when making the product. As for the gender, girls like these blankets more. Boys are more inclined to traditional options, especially if the texture of the product is pronounced. The same can be said about men: such a product is appropriate in the interior of the spouses' room, but it is not at all clear in the bachelor's house.

Views

Blankets with ottomans are divided into two lines: for children and adults. Depending on this, they differ in color and color theme.

For baby blanket use cartoon prints. Basically, such products are made in the form of sets with a different texture of each product.

Adult product more strict: more often the drawing of squares has a floral and floral theme. Such a product is supplemented with a regular pillow cover made of pouf textiles. This allows you to avoid overloading texture and at the same time maintain the main emphasis.

How difficult is it to do: what is wrong with the instruction?

No matter how many descriptions there are on the Internet, they are often so confusing that if you follow such instructions, it is difficult to achieve a good result. Sometimes it seems that the production resembles a canvas stitch with the addition of padding. In fact, making a Bonbon blanket is much easier.This does not require tedious base tracing, alignment of edges, exhausting fit. If you follow the instructions of professional craftswomen, everything is quite clear and simple.

The bottom line is this: the bombones themselves are initially prepared, which consist of two squares of different sizes (the large ones are combined with the smaller ones made of gauze, laying folds in the centers of each face: that is why the squares look round).

Then they are grinded on all sides, connected in rows, and then in a single piece, not forgetting to sew on the edge with braid with pompoms. After that, grind off with a base, insulated with padding polyester in the form of a curly stitch. Then they make small cuts from the inside out, fill the bombons with stuffing, “close” the holes with hand stitches, turn the blanket over the face, close the eversion allowance with a secret stitch.

If you don't want to turn the product inside out, you can just put the bonbon layer and the insulated base inside out, grind them down and make the edging.

Dimensions (edit)

The dimensions of the ottoman blanket are varied. You can bind to the parameters of the bed, measure the dimensions of a classic blanket, bedspread, rug. Some models are made taking into account the height and build of the user, so the product is often non-standard.

Conventionally, the dimensions of such blankets are divided into three groups:

  • For newborns and children nursery, preschool age and primary school students - approximately 70x100, 80x100, 100x100, 110x100, 110x140, 120x140 cm;
  • Teenage, somewhat more spacious, with parameters close to single-bed blankets: 80x180, 80x190, 90x180, 120x180 cm;
  • Products for adults with large dimensions: 140x180, 140x190, 150x200, 160x200, 180x200 cm and more (made for single and double beds).

Materials and colors

The ingredients are the important part. You should not experiment with stuffing, replacing the filler with cotton wool or yarn leftovers - such a replacement will make the weight heavier and spoil the appearance after washing.

The main "ingredients" of the Bonbon blanket are:

  • natural fabric of two, three, four contrasting tones with or without a pattern (chintz, satin);
  • base material (dense calico);
  • gauze;
  • insulation (synthetic winterizer);
  • filler (holofiber, synthetic winterizer, synthetic fluff);
  • reinforced threads to match textiles;
  • safety pins;
  • scissors;
  • ruler;
  • cardboard pouf template;
  • edge decor (satin or rep ribbon, braid);
  • diagram of the future product.

Color solutions for a boy or a girl are different. Basically, shades are selected taking into account the preferences of the author or customer. Girls love all tones of Barbie, so this blanket can be pink with gray, turquoise, lilac. The drawings are more than symbolic: dolls, ice cream, candies, bears, pussies and other beautiful and cute items.

For boys, they make options for a marine theme, green, yellow, decorating the surface of the product with a variety of prints: stripes, cages, polka dots, abstraction. The palette of tones for adults is more restrained. These are monochromatic, strict shades of pastel colors, sometimes bright contrasts of two saturated colors.

Beautiful interiors with a bomb blanket

Since the textured "biscuit" style blanket is unique in itself and immediately attracts attention, it is preferable to make some reference to the existing interior items.

Style can be expressed through the print of bombones, their shades, special elements (for example, bears, suns speak of children's themes and the small age of the user). Styles for older children are made with a lower brightness of the print, but the emphasis is on color: for example, it can be repeated in the tone of curtains, wallpaper, table lamp shade, flower pot, picture pattern.

You should not be zealous with one color, filling the entire area of the room with it: an overabundance of color negatively affects the idea of \ u200b \ u200bdesign, creating an oppressive atmosphere.

When choosing the color of the blanks, it is worth considering: it is preferable to use light shades of pastel colors, since they are able to bring light, warmth into the room, visually increasing the space of the room.

To make the blanket look beautiful in the interior, we must not forget about the size of the squares. Small ones are versatile and fit perfectly into the overall picture, large ones create the illusion of decorative pillows laid in rows.

This blanket looks beautiful in different styles. The most typical design option is country (if the model consists of bright colors). To fit a product into a classic or modern style, you will need to make it monochromatic without additional decor.

The Arabic version is also possible: gold trim, a slight repetition of the color combination of the room, two colors maximum - and the blanket from "A Thousand and One Nights is Done"!

If you want to show luxury, you should choose expensive textiles with companions (one unloading one-color, connecting the other two with a pattern). Any little things matter: the print should be premium, lacy, but not colorful.
