The kitchen is the place where the whole family gathers and prepares food. It is imperative that this area has a positive and creative look thanks to the right interior design. Therefore, when we have to make repairs in an apartment, the choice of wallpaper becomes the main task and it must be approached in the most careful way.

In the modern world, the decoration of residential premises with brick-like tiles has become fashionable. I must say that this is an expensive pleasure. Not everyone has the opportunity to shell out a considerable sum for work and material. But to glue wallpaper under a brick in the kitchen - anyone can afford it.

Types of brick wallpaper

The easiest and relatively inexpensive way to decorate your kitchen is to replace the wallpaper. They must be washable. There are many types, so as not to get confused, we will consider each of them separately.

Acrylic wallpapers are produced using foamed acrylic. The layer is approximately 2 mm thick. This coating is safe, environmentally friendly and breathable. Therefore, it is quite suitable for your home. The advantages of this class of wallpaper: they are washable, inexpensive and have different patterns and shades. Disadvantages: wear out quickly and cannot tolerate high humidity.

Non-woven wallpaper has a special layer. The lower one is smooth, and the upper one has a patterned, textured surface. They do not require painting, as they have an independent color. Advantages: easy to glue, because they do not stretch, have sufficient width and are easy to dismantle after wear. Disadvantages: easily damaged and dirty, cannot hide flaws on the wall.

Vinyl wallpaper is the most reliable covering. The composition includes polyvinyl chloride. They are divided into two types. Flat vinyl wallpaper: hot-stamped, similar to silk-screen printing. Expanded vinyl that is made by converting to a pattern. Both types have increased resistance to mechanical damage, thick vinyl wallpaper has a glossy surface. The disadvantage is that they are heavy, so it is very difficult to glue them onto the walls.

All these options have a sufficient number of colors, and can make your interior rich and original.

Recommendations for use

Unlike real tiles, wallpaper does not eat up space, and also guarantees a high-quality coating and does not require a lot of installation time. Plus, there are savings here. It is enough to buy glue and choose wallpaper to your taste for a small amount.

The only thing to consider is that paper rolls are not suitable for a kitchen space. There is a lot of moisture in this place and it will contribute to their rapid wear. And the washable and vapor-resistant material will come in handy.

A fairly solid finishing base will not visually differ much from real tiles. But at the same time, you do not need to worry about the production of unnecessary work that will allow you to fit real tiles to different angles and protrusions in your room. In addition, before deciding on the decoration of the kitchen with tiles, you will need to calculate the load on the walls and foundation. If you have gypsum plasterboards installed instead of hard plaster, then consider that the tiles will weigh the walls down. The coating, in this case, will be fragile and may fall off over time.

With trellises, all tasks are simplified due to the fact that irregularities are easily pasted over with a soft and pliable material.

The main thing is that if you love everything of high quality, then choose wallpaper options that can withstand mechanical stress, excessive humidity and other negative factors.

Design options

Try to think over the interior design of the kitchen. For dark corners, light shades are suitable. A tile or brick pattern will look best in the dining area. The table and chairs go well enough with this pattern.

Combination options are also acceptable for finishing. For example, if you glue the characteristic wallpaper where you have a kitchen set and a sink, then in the area where the window is located, you can apply smooth plaster and paint it with washable paint, which will match well with the color of the wall covering. In a large kitchen area, you can decorate a significant part of it with high-quality washable brick-like wallpaper, and decorate the sink and stove area with monochromatic mosaics.

The option looks very good when two walls that form an angle are trimmed with brick trellises. In this place, a large dining table and chairs are installed, and the other part of the kitchen is decorated with plain material. Only here it is necessary to take into account the combination of colors and shades. They should not differ significantly, otherwise it will turn out very colorful and intrusive.

If you do not like too bright and varied colors, then in this case, choose a washable trellis under the light pastel tiles. In this option, glue all walls with one material that has a monochrome shade. For example, white or light blue. The ceiling will also need to have a light tone. But the kitchen set must be chosen in such a color that it stands out expressively against this background. For example, red or green. This contrast looks incredibly creative and unconventional.
