Traditionally, wallpaper remains popular in wall decoration during renovation. Today, a huge selection of colors and materials is offered, and in order to choose the right ones, you need to familiarize yourself with their characteristics. Relatively recently, non-woven wallpaper has gained popularity, which will be discussed below.

Non-woven fabric is a non-woven fabric based on cellulose fibers. It is made from modified and unmodified paper fibers. It also contains polyester and special adhesives. Manufacturing takes place using the hot stamping method.

The following properties of this material are noted:

• strength. Unlike plain paper, non-woven fabric is not easily erased and torn;
• fire resistance;
• moisture resistance. Dries quickly and does not shrink;
• breathability;
• preservation of the form. The material, if crumpled, easily restores its previous appearance;
• interaction with paint.

The following advantages of non-woven wallpaper can be noted:

• Long service life. If you do not plan to frequently change the covering on the walls, then non-woven is a good choice. Due to its solid base, the material is durable.
• Environmental friendliness. There are hypoallergenic varieties that do not cause any harm to health. This applies to fully non-woven wallpaper.
• Washable. They are moisture resistant so they can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Dries quickly. But this cannot be abused.
• Ease of installation. Since these wallpapers are quite dense, they can be glued to any surface, even with inaccuracies. These flaws will be hidden due to the structure of the wallpaper. They are easy to glue as the glue only needs to be applied to the wall.

• Their roll width is larger than that of paper wallpaper. This saves time when gluing and also reduces the number of joints between strips.
• In contact with glue, non-woven wallpaper does not shrink and does not change shape when it dries, as is often the case with paper counterparts. Thus, the seams do not diverge, and no empty space is formed at the joints.
• After gluing, these wallpapers allow air to pass through well, due to which moisture does not accumulate under them and fungus does not form.
• Resistant to fire. In the event of a fire, the wallpaper will resist fire for a long time, and in case of fire, harmful substances will not be released into the environment.
• You can choose a wallpaper for painting. This will give free rein to the design imagination of the owners.

Disadvantages:

• high price;
• non-woven vinyl wallpaper with embossed pattern can accumulate dirt and dust. They are not suitable for allergy sufferers.

Among the technical characteristics of non-woven wallpaper, their weight is noted. They are heavier than paper ones, therefore, for their installation you need a special, thicker glue.

There are three main types of non-woven wallpaper:

• Non-woven. Consist of several layers of non-woven fabric. They do not need to be smeared with glue during installation, since they are already impregnated with a binder, which gives them the properties listed above.
• Non-woven base. The main layer is non-woven, and the top (decorative) layer can be paper, vinyl or textile.

The paper-coated non-woven base has a low cost.Such canvases are single-layer, two- or three-layer. A filler is introduced between the layers, then the material is pressed, and an interesting protruding pattern is obtained.

This is an environmentally friendly wallpaper that is breathable. But they are not suitable for rooms with high humidity, they are subject to external damage. Vinyl wallpaper on non-woven fabric is very popular today. Vinyl spraying gives the canvas a decorative look. The options for textures and colors are not limited.

Textile fabrics are a non-woven layer on top of which textiles (velor, silk, jute, linen, cotton) are applied. Such wallpapers look spectacular, elegant. When using them, additional heat and sound insulation of the walls can be noted. Textile wallpapers require careful maintenance. They absorb odors and accumulate dust.

• For painting. They have light colors and are intended for coloring. Better to use water-based paint.

The width of standard wallpaper is usually about 0.53 m. Non-woven wallpaper, as a rule, is one meter, that is, the width of the roll is 1.06 m.

The most common length is 10.05 meters. In the manufacture of vinyl wallpaper 53 cm for painting, the designation of 15 meters is used. Meter wallpaper on non-woven for painting is available in lengths of 25 meters.

Several types of non-woven wallpaper can be distinguished based on what kind of surface they have. Below are their descriptions and features, knowing which you can make the right choice. Views:

• Smooth. Wallpaper with a perfectly smooth surface becomes the next, more precisely, the final stage in the preparation of walls for decorative coated (this can be wallpaper, decorative plaster, paint). If this is a staining, the color on such wallpaper will come out very saturated, the paint will be applied without streaks and irregularities. The thickness depends on the defects of the walls. The more of them, the thicker the layer of the canvas should be.

• Foamed. These are medium thickness canvases. They have a soft embossed surface, which is decorated with bright decorative elements. It can be just roughness or glitter.

• Embossed. Textured embossed wallpaper is designed to give a room a three-dimensional look, so to speak. It can be just a convex pattern or a smooth canvas that gives a 3D effect. They hide well the imperfections of the walls (cracks, irregularities).

• For painting. A very convenient option for owners with a good imagination and designer vein - paintable wallpaper. They can be glued to any surface. After installation, you need to wait until it is completely dry (about 48 hours) and only then start painting.

Textured options have a decorative surface. Already painted wallpaper can be repainted in the future. This is a good opportunity to revitalize the interior at no extra cost.For painting, water-based or dispersion paint is used.

All surfaces in the room must be in harmony. The colors of the walls, floor and ceiling, of course, should not be the same and merge into one spot, but they need to be selected intelligently so that bad taste does not come out:

• Solid White Wallpaper suitable for staining. By choosing them, you will provide yourself with the opportunity to select any color for the walls, depending on your mood, since you can paint them several times throughout the entire service life. The colors can be combined on one wall, or all four can be painted in different shades. You can also apply drawings.

White does not have to be painted over. It is perfect for a minimalist or French style. It can also contrast with other surfaces and furniture. But with white you need to be extremely careful not to pollute or spoil the wallpaper. It is advisable not to glue them in the hallway.

• Green coloris known to soothe. Suitable for the living room or nursery.
• Warm shades of yellow will fit well in the nursery, kitchen or hallway.
• Dark tones will give the room seriousness, solidity. This is good for classic style, minimalism, loft. These wallpapers can be used in a spacious living room, in a bedroom or in a wide hallway. It is advisable that the furniture contrasts with the dark wallpaper.

The choice of wallpaper pattern is probably one of the favorite moments of renovation. The drawing, of course, will depend on the room itself, its style, filling it with elements:

• Wallpaper "under the stone" - a fashionable trend. They are suitable both for residential premises and for public places, in particular, they will help to arrange a spectacular design of a cafe or bar.
• In an apartment or house brick-like wallpaper it will be good to stick it in the hallway. If placed correctly, brick wallpaper will fit well into the kitchen work area. You can also decorate the dining room. In other rooms, brick wallpaper is appropriate in the loft style.

• When choosing striped wallpaper the walls should be well prepared, since they must be perfectly even, otherwise the distorted lines will give out all the roughness of the walls. To create a warm and cozy atmosphere, stripes of pastel colors (cream, beige, pale yellow, light gray, golden) are suitable. The natural colors of the wood will give the room a natural look.

If you need to focus on the wallpaper or distract it from some room imperfections, it is better to use bright colors. With the help of horizontal stripes, you can visually lower ceilings and expand the area, and vertical lines will raise the walls and slightly narrow the room. It's good if some pieces of furniture or accessories have something in common with striped wallpaper. You can choose curtains, a sofa or upholstery on chairs to match the stripes. It is important that with striped wallpaper there are plain curtains.

• For wallpaper on a non-woven basis, the coating may be different, in particular, paper. This is an economy option. But it is worth remembering that the paper layer will not be as resistant to damage.
• The elite class includes textile wallpaper with a fabric cloth over a non-woven layer. Especially if it is velor or silk. They are perfect for the bedroom.
• In the living room, you can glue designer wallpaper with vinyl spraying. The hall, like any other room, can be divided into zones using wallpaper of different colors. • Bright colors and unusual patterns are suitable for a nursery. It is also better to use dense wallpaper there.
• Restrained shades are more suitable for the bedroom. But if you want to focus on something bright, screaming, you can use one wall under it, for example, behind the bed. The final choice of wallpaper color and pattern will, of course, depend on the style of the room. Beautiful canvases can be matched to any design. Catchy original colors and patterns, deep restrained shades, modest drawings - the assortment allows you to choose a material that will help you decorate the interior with taste:

• Classics natural colors, shades of wood are suitable. You can use an unobtrusive small drawing, stripes. A good solution would be to place the ornament on one or two walls, and paste over the rest with plain wallpaper.

• Provence style light colors are used. Most often, the walls are painted, so you can choose wallpaper for painting.Do not forget that they should be deeply embossed. If for the French style you choose restoration wallpapers without further painting, make sure that they are multi-layered.

• Eastern style bright and warm colors are suitable: red, orange, golden. The drawing is usually a national ornament.
