The problem of removing flying insects is relevant in spring and summer. Flies are especially annoying, many species of which live and reproduce in the immediate vicinity of people's homes. The inconveniences they cause are incomparable with the scale of the real threat to health, and sometimes even to human life. You can fight flies using folk methods, reinforcing them with an arsenal of chemicals for exterminating flies.

Fighting flies in the open air has certain nuances. Although in nature, you can use almost all means that are effective indoors, given some features.

Chemicals

To get rid of flies on the street, special insect killers will quickly and dramatically help. These are usually expensive but effective drugs that surpass most of the known folk remedies in terms of results. In parallel, they will ensure that other insects such as mosquitoes, midges and the like are absent from the site.

Chemicals and special devices will help to significantly reduce the population of flies at the site.

  • Fly Byte. Granules for killing adult flies. Does not work against larvae. Flybait can be scattered on the site or the area can be watered with poisonous water. It is better to spray the outer walls of all buildings within the yard with a liquid solution. The composition is attractive to insects due to the special volatile substances in its composition.
  • "Karakurt"... Powdery product in a granular texture for outdoor and indoor use. It is poured in places of infestation of flies (around cesspools and compost pits, courtyard bathrooms, containers with waste). Can be used diluted (to a thick mass) to lubricate window frames and doorways.
  • Eco Sniper GE4. A long-range device for eliminating the population of flies in the area. The convenience of the device for outdoor use lies in the solar panels from which it works. The buzzing insects are attracted by the UV light from the lamps, but when they get close to the device and touch the grate, the insects die due to the electric shock.

In addition, it is easy to quickly expel flies by means of pyrotechnic fumigators in the form of spirals and evaporators. And special repellents in the form of aerosols or emulsions will be able to prevent close contact with flies. These insecticides can easily kill insects in the open air. To clear the airspace in the area from flies, you need to place spirals around its entire perimeter.

The main task of fumigators is to scare off flies with poisonous vapors. This is considered the best solution for the cardinal extermination of insects.

An effective remedy has the most important advantage - it does not harm people, animals and flora on the site. Also demonstrates the best large-scale coverage.

Traps

Another effective means for expelling the winged carriers of the infection is the organization of various traps. You can get professional battery-powered devices or ready-made disposable traps.

  • FC001... It emits substances that are as close as possible to the odor emanating from the human body. This attracts flies, and they fall into a trap - a special container. You can finally destroy the winged prisoners by placing the container in a container with hot water.
  • Argus... Disposable traps for outdoor or indoor use. Some kind of liquid bait is poured inside, such as juice, compote, beer or wine. After filling the trap with insects, it must be disposed of.
  • You can easily make such a trap at home. For this purpose, you will need empty plastic bottles, tin or glass cans, paper bags, and similar improvised means. Sweet bait is poured into the container, after which everything is covered with a film in which holes are made. The fly climbs inside the can, but cannot get back out.
  • If you want to dine in the gazebo on the street, and you can't drive the flies away from the table, they can save the situation special adhesive tapes hung nearby... Sticky paper traps can be made from strips of heavy paper soaked in honey or saturated sugar syrup.
  • You can fight flies using electrical and light traps. To be used outdoors, they must be powerful and large, otherwise it will not be possible to achieve a special effect.

If you are planning long gatherings in the open air, near the location of people you need to organize a treat for the pests. Any fruity, sweet or even slightly fermented bait will work to create a distraction trap. This is a great alternative to store-bought Velcro. If the basis is not jam, but overripe fruits, they need to be peeled and prepared in small pieces. Fold the slices into a container, tighten with cling film on top, and then use a toothpick to make large enough holes in it. This is necessary so that insects can get into the trap, attracted by the smell of fruit, but they could not get out.

The filled trap can be placed in soapy water. Ready-made traps are placed in places where flies accumulate. The disadvantages of such homemade flycatchers include a small range and a low degree of extermination of insects.

Another option for saving from flies on the street would be vinegar wiping of furniture, which is planned to be placed on the street, including a common table. The vinegar smell will scare away uninvited flying "guests".

To prevent the infestation of flies on the site, prevention is an effective measure.

  1. Timely care for pets and birds... Especially if the farm has cattle.
  2. Maintaining clean territory of the site.
  3. Keep waste containers closed, periodically mow the lawn.
  4. Keep old grass out of bed and fallen leaves on the site.
  5. Do not delay cleaning the cesspools, fill them with a septic tank.
  6. Maintain the purity of the water in the ponds on the site... Stagnant and stagnant water attracts various insects.
  7. Store crop stocks correctly. Perishable vegetables and fruits give off a putrid smell, which flies flock to, like a feast.

Insect repellent plants

Harsh plant smells will help ward off flies. Insects are afraid of pungent-smelling plants. They need to be planted near the veranda or gazebo, under the kitchen window, in order to protect insects from them. These can be bushes of tansy, elderberry, tomatoes, hazel or bird cherry. Aromatic herbs are best planted as close to home as possible.

  • Basil... Natural flavoring will be doubly useful in that it can be consumed in food. In addition, it is not tolerated not only by flies, but also by mosquitoes. The plant can also be applied dry, laying out the bunches in the room. Basil bunches are also suitable for summer grounds.
  • Lavender... Its scent can also repel mosquitoes and moths. Plant pots work equally well in the house and on the terrace.
  • Mint... Not only the fresh smell of growing mint can be used against pests, but also essential oil. The bonus of growing mint is that it can be added to tea.
  • Geranium... A very popular houseplant that can eliminate flies and other insects from the territory. Geranium grows successfully outdoors.
  • Sagebrush... The grass planted in the beds repels all flying pests. If you additionally plant marigolds nearby, the effect will not be long in coming.

Traditional methods

Sometimes ordinary vinegar helps to get rid of annoying insects. The window frames, all wooden and plastic surfaces on the street and at the entrance to the premises are rubbed with vinegar solution. It is also suitable for the treatment of outdoor latrines and areas where food waste accumulates. Also, for disinfection, they often use chlorine or turpentine.

But you should be careful with this method, given its persistent and pungent odor and the harm of fumes to the human respiratory system.

At home, it is easy to make safer and more effective formulations and flavors to help keep insects away.

  • Lemon with cloves. Large lemon wedges are placed in a saucer. Dried clove buds are placed near them. This flavoring agent is suitable for outdoor recreation and for dining under a canopy in the fresh air.
  • Black pepper with milk and sugar syrup... Add a pinch of ground black pepper to a small amount of saturated sugar syrup and dilute the resulting mixture with 1 glass of milk. The honey-milk solution with pepper is poured into saucers and placed in places where insects most often appear (milk can be replaced with water).
  • Sugar-honey solution... Three teaspoons of honey are diluted in 200 ml of water with sugar. Parchment or ordinary paper is impregnated with this composition and the sheets are laid out near garbage cans and compost pits, or a container with a solution is placed on the veranda.
  • Essential oils with aromas of lemongrass, eucalyptus, mint and cloves are often used as repellents. They can be applied to the skin undiluted or combined with other insect repellents. A balm with essential oils prepared on a decoction of hazel with the addition of vinegar in equal proportions will also help to drive away flies from a person.
  • Flies cannot stand the smell of alcohol... On the street, you can spray an alcoholic drink and forget about the existence of insects for a while. A plastic beer bottle with leftover drink or empty, but with a heady smell, must be divided into two parts. The upper part is turned over and inserted into the lower part with the neck down. Attracted by the intoxicating smell, the flies make their way inside and die in the trap.

You can fight flies in different ways, but it is important not to forget - these insects live and reproduce in areas of accumulation of food and household waste, so you need to take care of the cleanliness of the site.
